Good content.
good job!! ima have to watch it now!
Thanks! And of course, I’m interested to read your take on some of the points-agree or disagree after you do. 😎
I thought the same thing about the little girl..the first 30 minutes of the movie I found best moviemaking ever..the mother role is also very good and you can feel that she would do anything to protect her child..and great action sequence (motorcycle chase)..If you have seen the trailer wich I have ofcourse you know...oh this will not end well for our 2 charactars here..and still it was such an intense well done sequence...let's say all before revealing the main bad guy, only spoken of at the beginning...
Great review. We share a lot of sentiments. There will be some overlap :)
I am awaiting for that one. 😉
All those details could not be addressed without a 10 hour movie. Good take though.
Thank you! Now, if Miller had chosen to limit or take out the Jack character and focused on that father/daughter dynamic, and streamlined the revenge arc on Dementus, I get a sense it could have been accomplished. At the end of the day though, I do hope a FR sequel will be made.
Ok, you got us to go see The Fall Guy. Thank you. But not going for this Wide Eyed Girl Boss one. Your breakdown was plenty. Thank you.
I can understand that. 😁 There’s a theory going around that audiences are scared off from seeing it because it has a female lead. I say blame Marvel for that.
Hope the video was entertaining and came across coherent and clearly for you.
Thank you for correctly referring to pieces from the score as "cues". I can't stand it when people call a cue from a film score a "song" and I feel like a puppy dies somewhere in the world whenever someone refers to it that way. Solid review man. Felt pretty much the same, as you know.
I may have said “pieces” still though but, yeah, calling score “songs” would feel weird. I would say track probably.
And I was nicely surprised to see how much we agreed on the movie. 🤝
It is strongly implied that Furiosa and Pretorian Jack did ultimately form a Romantic bond.
If you're thinking of them putting their heads together, that was a gesture of trust that she also had with her mother. So other than that, what scene can you reference that exhibits romance?
My thoughts on Furiosa:
1. It's a good/great movie. Worthy of paying to see at theaters and own when it comes out. I rate it 8/10. The fact that it is not doing well is silly to me because I've seen a lot worse action films that made way more $.
2. Shortcomings at the box office: The main problem with it in my opinion, is that it is a prequel. To have a successful prequel you need an already engaged large audience. Mad Max is a niche category of action that does not have a humongous fanbase. Furthermore It has been like 9 years since Fury Road came out so it has lost a lot of its prominence. Imo Miller should have made sequels to Fury Road much sooner after Fury Road, and after he garnered a much larger fanbase, *then* do the prequels. It would probably have exploded into a very successful modern era saga.
3. Anya Taylor Joy did a pretty good job, but Charlize is too iconic for me in this role. Charlize did such a badass job she easily deserved a trilogy, even if it was playing a supporting role secondary to Max. I also think they could have maybe used Charlize in Furiosa. We didn't need a perfect reduction in age by 25 years. If they had her looking slightly younger than in Fury Road, it could have worked. Some cg tweaks and makeup I think could have accomplished this slight reduction in age from how she looked in Fury Road, despite even being 9 years older. Furthermore, she is only in the film for the last half (or less) of the film, so there would be less editing to do making this easier. This also would have generated a better outcome at the box office almost guaranteed as people loved her in that role. Charlize has also aged fairly well so it may not have been that difficult.
Anya as well sort of looks like an alien or something. I think partially because she wore a bald cap and didn't shave her head which made her head look bigger. Would have looked better if she had it shaved imo.
4. More on it being a prequel: I didn't need a prequel. The mystery of Furiosa's past was fine with me. I think about 99% of the fanbase would have preferred a sequel to Fury Road over a prequel. Sequels that have more explosive high octane scenes, but also more fleshed out story and world building. So I really don't know what's motivating George Miller in this case. It seems almost like he's just doing whatever he wants, doesn't care about $, and isn't really in alignment with the fanbase. Just because you've had that script this whole time doesn't make it a good idea or what the fanbase wants to see.
5. Praetorian Jack: A surprising welcome addition. Wasn't sure of him when he first appeared but he did great. The actor did great.
6. The sound design: The sound of the engines alone deserves mention. By itself it makes it worth the ticket price to hear it in theaters. It 1 upped the Fast and the Furious in this regard in my opinion, which shouldn't be possible because this is possibly the one redeeming element of The Fast and the Furious movies.
7. The music: was not really memorable for me.
8. World building: They expanded on this much more which was awesome. It invariably takes away from a bit of the action but I don't mind some of that.
9. Chris Hemsworth as Dementus: Gets his own mention. He did great. And all the rest of the actors did well. It was a believable world.
In total agreement when it comes to Theron. She was missed when I was watching Furiosa. Her physicality is so much of what made that role memorable. Hopefully Miller puts it in gear and is able to make the sequel we all want.
By the way, I watched your ‘Fury Road’ supercut and enjoy it. Also, your uplifting montage for your grandfather. Good on you for honoring him. 🤝
@@KyleCorwith Yeah I came out of the theater missing Charlize. She encapsulated badassery with some femininity, sexuality and mystery all rolled into one. It's a rather lethal combo, in a good way. She's got the looks for sure, for that role. I didn't get much notable vibes from Anya despite her doing alright. Maybe I need to see the film again for proper judgment on that.
And it's cool you checked out my videos. I tried to make Charlize just a little bit more badass in that video. I think I did it justice. Glad you enjoyed them.
Furiosa could reveal that she was female once she had the protection of Pretorian Jack.
Good video!
Hmmm.....
Jack comes from the first Mad Max movie. 🤫
11:44 He did the same thing in The Road Warrior.
17:17 A fractured arm bone with weight applied while twisting will eventually sever the remaining connective tissues.
Dementus really only showed a frazzled point when dealing his justice at that point, something snapped from his relatively orderly posturing.
How does Jack come from the first mad max movie?!? Do tell!
My first time watching you, Kyle, and that was a fantastic breakdown. You nailed it in every way when I also loved this film. I liked this movie in a different way than Fury because it gave me more zany characters and we spent more time with story. The action was great though not exactly like Fury, but it did give me story I didnt know I'd enjoy that Fury didnt have. And it also harkened back to the older Mad Max movies in terms of approach to story. Overall I loved it in a different way than Fury, and I agree with all your points. I think this film makes Fury even better. Great breakdown!
Much appreciated! I agree that it does feel more like a throwback to his past work.
Do consider subscribing and checking out more videos because there is proper effort put into them.
The bullet farmer actor died a couple of years ago, that’s not him
So it was a CGI face replacement?
@@KyleCorwith yeah, I didn’t notice but that’s the case… 3 actors died between Fury Road and Furiosa, that’s why Colossus isn’t in the film
@@victorvonvoid1938 Knew about the other two but not BF actor. I did noticed that the character's face was artificial to a degree but not to that extent of bringing a dead actor back. Job well done!
I actually don't mind the CGI dogs. There's too much animal cruelty on movie sets.
Then it would have been better for Miller to nix the inclusion of the dogs in the scene because THAT CG yanked me out of the scene.
@12:00 wrong. mad max dragged furiosa back to the citadel.
At most, it’s inferred. But then, what? He just dropped her in front of the cave with cavern dwellers who put maggots on body parts? Maybe. But why? What did he get out of that? Why her? It’s just too ambiguous, unnecessarily.
loquaciousness = things ghay dudes aay
Might want to work on your spelling, dude.
