Building on a previous question: I'm new to violins, both playing and maintaining one. Why is sanding of a bridge frowned upon? Mastering carving with a chisel and a plane takes training and skill. It would seem that sanding could remove wood safely - but, I suspect there are distinct reasons for this - I would just like to know what they are. Thanks.
Remember that this video is for an emergency repair (15:31) until you can get your instrument to a professional repair person. Hence the title "Emergency Repair"
If you place a piece of card stock under the fine tuners, they won’t scratch the top while you are fitting the bridge.
