He was a 6'0 shooting guard for most of his career where he was effective.
Lets name all the guys he had to face at that position. Then let's look at all the games he cooked against a bigger defender.
The guy had a 41 inch handle and he didn't need to be 6'5
He'd just drop guys, drive to the rim or pull up shoot mid. If guys were bombing threes then like they do today? He'd probably have that shot to add to his arsenal.
He was a trend setter and changed the culture of the game. His resume speaks for itself.
Iverson his first year with Melo they both put up 26/3/7 Melo had 26/7/3
Combined for 49% shooting and they didn't make a all NBA 1/2/3rd
A.I. was meant to be forgotten NBA did not like him. Fans loved him!

Yep. That negates most anything that comes afterwards in the argument.
The NBA has always recruited the best available talent of the time each year that they could legally, financially, or through bribery behind the scenes. They didn’t just decide to get crappy players for a length of time for shits and giggles or to build up star players.
Some eras had styles of play or rule sets that aren’t as entertaining to future fans out of context, but any of the greats would rise up to be great (different maybe but still great) in other eras too.

@mortongrove5862 I think from about 2001 and onward the players really started getting alot better than the years before and defense included. That's right about the time Gil joined and AI was leading consistently leading the league in scoring, Kobe also significantly leveled up his game around that time too. Jennings gotta be thinking about before Gil and AI's era. AI was literally making prime MJ and the stacked Bulls w/ suposedly All-time great defenders look stupid as rookie. Dropped 32pts, 37pts, and 44pts against them as a brand-new rookie in the NBA. How does a small rookie guard drop that many points on a team that has 3 Hall Of Famers that were arguably the best defenders at each of their respective positions. That's like a rookie 6ft or 5'11" guard coming in, in today's NBA and dropping 32pts, 37pts and then 44pts on the current Boston Celtics rn, given how good their defenders are lol. That's completely unrealistic fr😅

I get the remark about respecting your predecessors, but to be honest, the old generation of any game should be noticeably worse than the newer ones. The old heads build a stronger foundation through their struggles than what they were given when they started the game. Plus, nutrition and weight room training has become much more a science since those older days, so better nutrition and understanding of sport specific exercises, coupled with more general knowledge of the game being more widespread should result in a greater baseline level of competence.

AI played with prime Melo too... Didn't even get close to winning any championships. Ppl don't seem to understand that basketball is a 5 on 5 game and just bcos one can be considerably a better individual player, doesn't mean that their play will suit him or his teammates to build a championships-winning basketball. Curry is probably up there at the very top as the easiest superstar to co-exist with if you wanna aspire for championships after championships. Basically pair him with another stars or two, and your team is almost a lock to get to the finals or winning championships.
His trait that he doesn't need the ball at all to impacting the game in his team's favor is so valuable. And I think ppl don't quite grasp such principles yet. Guys like Luka, Harden, AI, Melo who can only affect the game by holding the ball and tend to get lazy and passive when they're off-ball, for me that ain't gonna cut it if their aspiration is to win championships and not just personal stats.

Curry and AI are so different.
    - 2000s defenses had to worry about AI breaking ankles to get to the rim or an open spot inside the perimeter. Kobe and others described him as "relentless", "he would never stop coming at you".
    - 2010s defenses had to guard Curry starting at the logo and they had to deny him the ball or pray it didn't go in. Curry's constant off-ball movement and GS's screens would create lapses in the defense that created scoring opportunities for Klay and others.

to say Iverson did it alone is idiotic.Mutumbo was DPOY and a great rebounder along with protecting and holding down the paint. During that era the paint was prime real estate as the game was played inside out. Aaron Mckee was 6moty off the bench that year. If you were alive or watched during that time you should remember the East was really weak during that time. The road to the finals was easy being in the East all the heavyweight and legit teams played out west; Lakers, Spurs, Kings ect.. the Western conference finals winner would basically go on to win and smash the East. 76ers had great defenders and thing they lacked was additional scoring outside Iverson. So much of the scoring responsibility were on Iverson shoulder but let's not act like he had no help at all.
