"The Chosen" is a new series about the disciples of Jesus that has exploded around the globe. As of the time of this recording, the series has been viewed over 180 million times!
And while each episode may appear to simply tell the stories held in the Bible, there is an incredible amount of historical and theological detail that might slip by the untrained eye.
In this video, I'm going to break down four scenes from the fifth episode of season 2, highlighting some details that will not only change the way you view the episode, they might also cause you to see and interpret scripture in an entirely new light.

You may not ever read this, but my electric pencil sharpener died and students were asking about it because they needed to sharpen their pencils for art. I am no expert and tried tapping it and probing it, then decided I'd pray for it to work and that the class needed a miracle. Soon as I prayed out loud it came to life and even the whole class was in shock. All I said was "it wasn't me everyone....what did we learn today?" A student said "believe." AMEN.
Jesus knew John would be beheaded and He loved His cousin. His humanity was very real and He knew what John would go through.
I love Jesus with all my heart
The time is very close.... stay strong everyone and help one another as we serve God.

We forget to pray for the little things. For me it is thinking God had more important things to be involved in. I do better thanking Him for little things like parking spaces, green lights when I am in a hurry or safely get us to our destination to name a few.
I love comment, "I'm always ready to do my Father's will." Amen 🙏
One of the things so valuable about The Chosen is the better understanding of the culture, the religious practices, of what was or was not available at the time. We forget that being able to read was a skill only a few had, and books did not exist so people had to remember what the rabbi read at synagogue.

I have felt that the evil one is responsible for many mental and emotional problems. Many do not believe he exists, so sneaky, he gets away with a lot.
Hi Barbara, thanks for your comment. I believe the same. Have you read any books by Leanne Payne? A wonderful woman of faith and prayer, also a qualified Psychologist. Her books are so insightful and helpful. Some of them are: The Healing Presence, The Broken Image, Healing the Christian Soul. They are all worth reading, and give such glory to God.

I suffered my whole life from these thing's, certainly there was no medical cure for me.
At the point of giving up, Jesus found me, and healed me in such a beautiful, incredible way, it's like night and day. How good! And I now realise I was spiritually sick. Not anymore, Yay!

Wow you’ve given me something to really think about. I haven’t been feeling well physically for years and I had come to the realization that my health problems are due to my own mistakes so I thought that I should stop asking God for help. I told myself ‘how dare you ask Jesus to help you get back to healthy when you know you are the one who messed up!’ Now that I’ve listened to you talk about “when did we stop praying over a headache” I’ve had a complete turn around in my thinking!! Thank you for saying the things you did bc I believe it was meant for me to hear! WOW😮 God really works in mysterious ways!

Thank you for bringing light into those areas that are difficult for the "western" mind to comprehend.
Just because people stopped believing in demons doesn't mean they stopped existing. I was abused for decades by them and because I was taught they weren't real I didn't deal with them. The moment I learned it was demons was the moment I commanded them to leave in Jesus, Yeshua's name, and instantly they left. His power is monumental and evil is nothing compared to God.

Yes, there it always was, in the Scriptures. But, you’re right, Jesus’s humanity is conveyed well in this series.

Hi Brandon this was a good segment and I really liked the section about Zechariah. Respectfully, in response to the demons, I think the mark may have been missed. The Bible clearly indicates that Jesus healed the sick and He cast out demons. A specific distinction was made in scripture. Both elements are real components of Jesus' ministry. What blows me away is the demons themselves can have names (Legion) Mark Chapter 5. I have recently read through a good portion of the gospels and it struck me how many times "Jesus cast out demons" appears in the text which my eyes had never been attentive to. Additionally, the authors of the Bible's gospels witnessed Jesus distinguish the differences and interactions of both issues and had proper authority to document it in detail. Jesus had also given authority to his disciples to cast out demons, so I think it should be regarded for face value. I personally think demons these days play low key and are no less active than in those days. People are generally more tolerant or "ignorant" and they naturally blend with the populations and this suits the works of Satan just fine. Keep up the good work! You absolutely right... Not until this year did I realize God was casting out demons on a daily basis. Somehow my ignorance completely dismissed this. Until this year... I had awful experience with demons. They are extremely active nowadays. I had to go back to scripture after my experience because nobody believes until it's they. Now that I read. Blown away by how often Jesus cast out demons. Now that I have this awareness I see things with a different set of eyes. THANK THE LORD JESUS.... God Bless you and yours. And Always keep GOD first.

Wow. When did we stop praying to God about headaches? Thought it was just me. People are ready to grab medications.
We Pray every day, several times per day, Pray is a two way conversation with our Father Son Jesus our master and the holy spirit. We Pray about our service and our needs for help and strength from Jesus
My granddaughter has Rett's Syndrome. This is an awful condition. Her mother, father, and older brothers, along with so many family and friends, have prayed faithfully and diligently that she be released from this awful affliction. Even, that a cure will be found to reverse this whole nightmare she lives through. And yet, the Lord (by His loving will) has not yet healed her. Her brothers, and even her Mom at times, have struggled, knowing that God IS capable of healing her, but does not. It is so hard, while enduring the latest trip to the ICU for one thing after another. Praying does not always get us the "yes" answer we want now. And to watch a child suffer is excruciating. I know, though, that she will sing and dance in Heaven. She is so brave and cheerful...well, when she is not in intense pain. Prayer is WONDERFUL, as is Praise. But, remember, there are NONE who heard and believed in Jesus, while He walked this earth, who are still alive today. But, I know, that God has His reasons for everything...even in the pain.
That is truly one of the hardest things to go through and maintain your faith. I’ve had fibromyalgia fir 16 years and have had many prayers said for me as well as by me, and I sometimes get frustrated that God won’t heal me, but then someone will say something to me about my faith being such an inspiration to them despite the unanswered prayers and continuing pain. That is God’s reason for not healing my pain right now! In a way, that is my ministry and I’ve learned to be ok with that. It is hard though, so please let them know that there is a reason for God not answering their prayers in the way they want them answered!
So beautifully stated, Brandon, that of surrendering all areas of our lives to Him, from great to small. He cares about the details. He alone knows the intricacies of all parts of us: body, soul, spirit and mind. Thank you, Lord, that you continue to reach into our lives with healing.

Brandon, I love your style of explaining things. You are easy to listen to and easy to follow. I gasped when you said, " When did we stop praying for headaches?" Oh. My. Goodness. I do not mean to sound like I'm bragging but I "feel" like I have a "pretty good" prayer life. But I've stopped praying for the little things that can be helped by some other remedy. I do feel like "the tylenol" ultimately did come from God, but....I absolutely loved this reminder to pray even for the smallest things. I know He is a God of the details, but I loved how you explained this! I love the knowledge you bring and share with us. I will be praying for you! Thank you for these beautiful gifts you give to us.

I truly love these videos. these videos showed me the biggest overlooked thing in reading scripter is being knowledgable in history. it can be hard to understand when you don't know the history or that some words mean different things from which it was written. I feel like this is important and what God wanted cause now people who want him will seek him. there's an effort in place in understanding the scripture and God. the answers are not 100% handed to you, you have to look for it. and it's this that I thank you for your channel and everyone else's channel that helps us to understand scripture better and what we are missing.
It's mentioned by Jonathan, who plays Jesus, when he has Matthew helping prepare the sermon on the Mount. He speaks of his people SEARCHING and 'looking into these things'. I love that part because it reminds me that all the translations INTO English even in years past could have inadvertently cost us something, (as well as what you've mentioned), but ALSO knowing that now, or rather since the mid 80s, at least 2 Atheists sit ON THE BOARD of Biblical World Translations of the Scriptures!! (That's not the official Boards title, but you see my point I hope!!) Talk about the devil being in the DETAILS!! AHHHH! ONLY, ONLY the grace that YHWH protects HIS HOLY WORD and the spirit/receptive hearts Of his children, who openly seek him IN HIS BOOK does my horror at Satan's tricks diminish
@@sherylreed3558 I watch Gene Kim and he believes that the king James version is the only true translation of God's word. I haven't read any of the other translations but what he points out It seems to be true. All these other translations change one word that changes the whole context but it's so small you wouldn't even realize

I never realized that the Herod scandal thing was incest. I didn't think it got that deep.
I didn’t either until I started reading Genesis. There were a lot of incest back in that era and multiple polygamy practices to grow the population. I was shocked but that’s what was happening BC Old Testament era.
