- Here I have taken a Mahoney Laser Power Probe and made some measurements on the actual output power of a 50W chinese ebay laser cutter.
The scene of the dial moving was a re-shoot and only goes up to 35W because I released the button a bit short. In careful measurements I do get 36W as my peak output power.

good work, thanks for posting
Great info. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I tested my 50W Chinese tube with 2 different power supplies and got the same results as you; 36Watts. Just thought you would like to know. :)
0:58 Can't you just make a program that would cut a line at 1mm/s for 38mm, at the percentage in question?
Hi,
I have the same laser as yours. I'm looking for VENDOR settings, do you have a copy ? Thanks in advance.
It was interesting to see what the REAL power output was. What would you like to do with more power?
Cut thicker and cut faster. Some operations really benefit from faster speeds to reduce burning.
what is the price of the wattage probe?
Where can you buy one? Link?
So, if I buy 50W machine is literally a 35W...
It literally is a 45W tube, a few of the chinese tube sellers are beginning to label them honestly.
After about a year the tube will get weak to about 35W. If you buy a 'new' machine they may ship you one with an old tube in it.
I'm waiting for my power meter to arrive So I can test my fifty watt tube.. Guessing it comes from china
