      Robert Wallace If they're idiots, I'm sure you won't have a hard time finding something they said here that's wrong. So give us an example of one and then give us a good reason to believe that it's wrong. If you can't do this, it'll be clear who the real idiot is.

      +Robert Wallace Not even one example? ;) If you're going to call someone a "fabulous idiot" you should at least be able to list some reasons why. I might add that name calling is never helpful. It's just dismissive and rude.

      +Robert Wallace I didn't ask for all of them. I just asked for one (accompanied with a good reason to believe it's wrong).

    Seven months after this interview, TSCC came out with the LGBT+ child revelation. These 2 are a huge deal it was brought out of the shadows and to the forefront. Thank you John and Dr. Dehlin.

    This video helped me understand the difference between John Larsen and John Dehlin. Larsen experienced the pain underlined by his divorce. Dehlin had a much softer experience keeping his family intact. In fact, I heard him say at the Kansas Oasis Center that his exit was a blessing and a great experience. So I feel his softer spin on things, almost trying to smooth things out. I associate much closer to Larsen's attitude and position. No excuse. No redeeming value in Mormonism. And, yes, I got hurt badly by it as a nevermo. I never sought it out, and the way it meddled with my life is not just not appreciated, but is reprehensible.

      Robert Wallace Nope, never even been to SLC. Not even LDS. Just an amateur anthropologist who happens to be a little over two years into a fascinating, in-depth study of the religion and culture from perspectives both within and outside of the church.

      @hippiedachshunds1632 Před 9 lety +1

      Robert Wallace Yes, I am looking inside the religion. I've visited the local church several times, had in-depth discussions with my friends and relatives who are LDS. I have watched all of General Conference each October and April for the last two years, including the women's sessions. I've read the book of Mormon and prayed Moroni's prayer. I've read McKonkie. I've listened to hours and hours of FAIR apologetics. I've read Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. I've also read extensively in The Journal of Discourses - especially the sermons of Brigham Young. I have met with missionaries a number of times. I've been all over lds.org and talked with missionaries online there several times. I'd say that's looking at it from the inside, wouldn't you?

      Robert Wallace By the way, Robert Wallace, I would welcome a dialogue with you on this topic, as long as you don't resort to name calling again. I don't feel comments like, "Jackasses...all of you!" are very helpful.

    • @dg1821
      @dg1821 Před 9 lety +1

      Robert Wallace - hey Robert, if you are going to profess to be a believer and follower of Christ, don't you think you should put forth a bit more effort to be at least a little Christ like? Maybe not be so judgmental and childish? Just a thought. I'm not Mormon however, so it's possible since I don't have the more true and complete "translation" on these things, I could be wrong.

    • @dg1821
      @dg1821 Před 9 lety +2

      Doesn't really matter what you believe, Robert Wallace, it's all about how you act, or more specific, how you treat others.
      You can profess to be the most believing Mormon (or any religion) that ever walked the earth - but if you act like an ass or treat others as if they are ass's, well then there really is no point now is there?
      Do you feel that what you "believe" is more important than how you "act"?

    This is funny. I got interested in Mormonism after listening to David Michael's "My Book of Mormon Podcast". I was interested in what the apologetics for this religion could be, listed to a few other podcasts and found Mormon Stories. I then started listening to Mormon Expression, didn't really pay attention to who the two hosts were and in my mind Larsen and Dehlin were the same guy. I heard Dehlin's excommunication story and after I started listening to Mormon Expression I was like wow, this guy got radical pretty quickly. Anyway, great interview. I'm looking forward into listening to more of Larsen's work, so many of the most interesting Atheists are those that came out of religion.

    Mormon Church History is so messed up. Comparing it to a Mushroom Trip is an excellent comparison. Ya gotta love the Mormon Church's manipulation of emotional, burning in the chest, responses in place of a valid or compelling argument.

    I've listened to the arguments and I still know Joseph was a prophet of God as well a the prophet today is.If you don't want to follow the Prophets or don't believe in them then just move on.If you do Then repent The Times of The Gentiles is almost over.God loves us all But it is what it is.This is the time to see what we all will do and what we desire . Chose ye this day who you will serve.I don't know about you But I will serve the Lord.I hope you will too.and all who are ENEMIES of the Church who say things Hatefully we all know who you are.Just worship or don't the way you want and let us worship how we want.We will all know who's right in the End. Like the song JUST "LET IT GO" and move on.

      Austin Twiwble - Your comment simply fascinates me. The Mormon church underlines all it's presentations with "pray about it, and discover for yourself if it is or is not true". So after decades of doing so, a small but growing percentage, have come to the conclusion that it is in fact, not "true". Having lived an entire life, and begun to raise the lives of others (children), living according to what you now believe to be a deceptive lie - yes of course people are going to be annoyed, frustrated, and feel like a victim of fraud - on a lifetime scale!
      Even the most forgiving and compassionate person that would indeed "let it go", would still have a completely legitimate desire to "warn" others, or to make attempts to educate and put forth "the truth", so that folks can learn the "whole story", rather than the fragmented falsehoods.
      But this is what I find most fascinating about your comment, and others like it - you took the time to listen and/or read all of this, you also took the time to respond. So my question to you is: Why don't YOU just let it go? So what if folks want to share what they have learned and believe to be true? Is that not the very foundational principle of LDS missionaries around the globe, who are this very second doing their best to convince others that what THEY (the missionaries) believe to be true, is what others should believe?
      Your comment is simply the text book example of irony and hypocrisy.

      experience but I can not.I hope you find your faith one day but if not its your life that's the reason were here to see if we truly want to follow God or not.
