Oh my gosh! More of this! I was in a few presidencies and this my experience entirely. I have / had so much love for the sisters and stayed in the church for so long because I was trying to change things in my own space. Ultimately the truth claims being false were the reason I lost any desire to participate. But I feel so much for the sisters still there who have no idea what the church actually is. Lots of love to these sisters for coming on here and to the whole Mormon Stories team. ❤

I have listened to you and i do understand*** really and i see your heart condition here. This is the way Religion has survived all these years andu see it also in the Morman faith Doctrins and Principles and it hurts your heart@@ i can feel your pain. What you have done as a b BISHOP WAS GOOD AND U PUT YOUR HEART INTO IT AND REFLECTED JESUS CHRIST. I have studyed the Religion and laws and honestly the Book of Morman is GODS EXPRESSION HERE ON ESRTH AND IT IS BASED BY HOLY SPIRIT. BUT WHAT U HAVE A OBJECTION TO IS WHAT MAN IS DOING AND OVERSTEPPING JESUS AND GOD ENFORCING MANS IDEAS AND THAUGHTS. BUT THIS IS BASICALLY GODS TRUE RELIGION. IF U LOOK TO MAN FOR SUPPORT U WILL BE DISAPPOINTED IN ALL RELIGIONS AND GOD SAYS@@ U WOULD COUNCEL ME. NO WE CANT TELL GOD BUT GOD DOES SEE AND THIS IS A WEEDING OUT OF THOSE WHO DONT FEEL GOD CAN TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH MEN. LOOK HOW BAD IT WAS FOR MOSES AND MANY PEOPLE THAT HAD JUST BEEN SAVED DIED. WHAT A SHAME THEY CHOOSE THIS ACTION. MOSES SAID THAT ONE MUST EXERCISE FAITH @@ AND WE DO TODAY BECAUSE OF THE TERRABLE CORRUPTION. WE MUST STAY FAITHFUL TELL THE END OF OUR LIFE OR THIS SYSTEM. IT HARD BUT WE MUST BE FAITHFUL AND TODAY THE CHURCH IS GODS TRUE CHURCH AND WE CANT LEAVE IT BUT STAY FAITHFUL TO GOD. LET THE CHURCH DEAL WITH YOUR PROBLEMS BUT STAY THERE AND BE FAITHFUL TO GOD. DONT LET MAN OR SATIN RUN U AWAY AND IF U STAND ALONE DONT WAVER. HELP THE CHURCH SEE AND UNDERSTAND AND BE FAITHFUL. WE ARE IN THE END OF TIME DONT GIVE UP AND HELP OTHERS OVERCOME AND BE STANDING AT THE IN. I AM NOT A MORMAN BECAUSE OF ANY MAN BUT I AM STAYING IN MY PEW TELL JESUS COMES AND TAKE ME HOME. MAN CAN DO WHATEVER RHEY WONT I DONT CARE I NOT IN THE CHURCH FOR THEM BUT FOR God the Father And i love him and Jesus Christ

I felt this as a Young Women’s President. I was completely overwhelmed. I resigned from the calling and was chastised for leaving the calling. I was put into a RS presidency as Secretary and could NOT handle the blatant gossiping about members by the RS presidency. I had had a baby and was suffering severe postpartum depression. The RS Pres. pushed me so much , made me feel guilty for not able available, I finally resigned from that calling. It took me a year to recover and no one noticed or cared. I was isolated and forgotten; no home visits. I left the Mormon church and felt a tremendous amount of relief and freedom from all the psychological abuse and neglect. It’s been 20 years now and every once in a while I still feel a triggered emotion by the treatment I suffered in the Mormon church. They are mean, manipulative and heartless people.

Sounds about right for the LDS church. Putting people in roles when they do not have the time or skills to adequately perform said role with zero training and zero help with other tasks and obligations, such as caring for children/families while their parent fulfills the duties of said role. My daughter was going to activity days with friends for a while, and the leaders couldn't even remember her name. As annoying as that was, I felt bad for the one woman who was heavily pregnant with other small children at home. Doing activity days required her to find a sitter or make arrangements with her husband. The other leader was a grandmother who had part-time custody of her grandchildren due to the parents having to work long hours. These women needed help, not another thing piled on their plates, and neither of them had any kind of trauma-informed training despite one of the girls in the group having severe autism and another coming from an abusive background. The girl with autism had really supportive and helpful parents who would often stay for the whole activity, but that doesn't necessarily negate the fact that the activity days leaders themselves did not have the training or resources needed to effectively manage the difficult dynamics of the different girls in the group. My child was abandoned by her biological father, so the family tree activity was.... less than ideal. But how can they approach it differently when church doctrines themselves promote nuclear families while condemning all others, and the church just throws these jobs at members with no training and no support? It's absolutely criminal the way the church exploits their members while simultaneously promoting the kinds of practices that create and perpetuate trauma and exclusion.

I am still Mormon but have written my resignation letter. I am struggling please pray for me. I have spoken out against some ward behaviors, and am now going through the extreme psychological abuse of a formal shunning. Not sure what the shunning is supposed to accomplish, but if they are shunning me in hopes of me returning as a submissive woman, it has failed. Anyway can use prayers and any advice you can provide, bc I haven't sent the resignation letter yet. Im scared to leave I think. I really don't even understand what is happening right now. Would you consider spending a little time with a traditional counselor or therapist (maybe just a couple appointments) just to have someone safe to talk to? Members of the LDS church always take great pride in the fact that they don't have paid clergy and their leaders don't get professional training in a seminary or Bible college. And even though I think the training clergy might receive in those institutions is far from perfect at least they go into their ministries with the expectation that they are going to be counseling people. And since it is their profession they can devote the necessary resources to it. That fact that the LDS church takes random people and throws them in the deep end like this AND expects them to do what is essentially a full time job in their spare time with little to no training is ridiculous. I heard a sibling and his friends talking about a stake bishops' training they went to last week and they made it sound like it was a hot mess.

The men who gave the assignments without giving you any training are at fault. Be proud of your talent and don’t be ashamed that you were not qualified.
