- Israel began toned down Independence Day celebrations at sundown on Monday, with hopes for an end to the seven-month-old Gaza war dim, anti-government protests growing and internal divisions festering.
As the country marks its 76th year, firework displays were cancelled and the traditional torch-lighting ceremony at the Jerusalem national cemetery will be taped for TV audiences instead of livestreamed.
Talk's Mike Graham is joined by Jonathan Arkush from the Board Of Deputies Of British Jews, who says the most perplexing thing about pro-Palestinian marches is the "link up between the Left and Islamist extremism".

"Hate and compassion". Most Arabs just hate Jews, this hate has been there for decades, even centuries (it's even in their Quran). The stronger Israel gets, the stronger the hate as it'll be harder to get rid of them. That's what drives one group of protestors or hate marchers as you rightly pointed out. The other group are driven by "compassion" for the suffering and plight of the seemingly "oppressed " Palestinians. This compassion is quickly turned into hate for the one who is seen as inflicting the suffering, in this case, the Jews/Israelis. Hamas knows this. Why do you think there's loads of videos of children suffering/dying on social media? Why do you think Palestinian influencers (and anyone with a phone camera) have made it their mission to capture these sad footages and post them on social media. The more compassion they get get from the West, the most Jew-haters they create.
