Thanks Matt. You gave me a couple of tips that I used on my computer. I didn't realize that my stuff on the desk top might be slowing down my computer so I used your idea of putting the stuff in folders and I love the decluttering idea and I appreciate the tutorial.
Being a Computer science graduate, I was unaware of the fact that disabling few startup applications will ruin the computer. It results in booting up issues. I had a very bad time disabling my startup apps. This video is pretty much useful . Thumps up
This guy is great.... All of these tools are perfect for Computer speed. Idk if its you voice or how you explain but it was perfect, I didnt get confused at all Thank you
Hey Matt, I have a question I thought defrag wiped your computer because when my mum used to do it on our home pc she used to ask me if i wanted to move anything to an external HD? She was a computer technician thanks for the video
I'm using SSD and I have 12gt memory. This is my "old" gaming laptop and it has started slowing down. Running some applications takes way too much time and if I have several applications open it gets really slow. I'm running Win 7 and the installation is not too old.
If you are an advanced user, you could also skip downloading extra programs like spybot (saving both hard drive space and RAM space), and in the "run" bos type "msconfig" then click on the startup tab. this will give you a list of startup items with check boxes to enable or disable them.
All components are important. It all depends on the task as to which component is the weakest. Its all about balancing the system to your needs. Plus modern motherboard chipsets have sufficient bandwidth on all channels (etc) to cope with any 'standard' setup. Only for multi-GPU or heavily overclocked PC should you need a specialist or expensive motherboard. That said, its always worth getting the most up-to-day chipset, Intel's Z77 or X79 are where its at now.
Thanks alot, im going to buy a gaming pc instead of the new gaming consoles i have one that i think would be good. Can i tell you the details and you tell me a little about it?
@MarianaSteal1975 it depends on your machine. these days it's common to have 4GB/ram but even if you're on an older machine, sure it'll take a little while to run (especially the first time) but it doesn't take THAT long. Just out of curiosity, how old is your computer?
mm.. to give life to Windows machines, just add SSD and more RAM. It will speed things up a lot. Also, when using Windows, i use FolderChanger to increase my productivity overall, just to speed up my workflow as well. You will find it if you google for "folderchanger"
eula's are all over my computer.. what are those, do they effect my computer speed? I play World of Warcraft and such and tend to lag some. I have windows vista also.
hi i just wanted to reset my computer, like the whole thing but in windows 8 is easier because you just go to the setting and then reset it but windows 7 is not easy because i tried but it didn not work out with me so that is why im asking how to reset windows 7 the whole computer
My laptop was running slow so I took it apart and washed it all the parts. I couldn't really remember where everything went but I kinda remembered most of it. Now it wont turn on. Do you guys know what it could be? I'm not super techy
That was actually really helpful, only problem I wish you would've said that the defragement would takes hours before I followed you step by step and already clicked it lol
HI I keep getting on my right side of the screen that I do not have original windows click here to fix ( buy new one ) I bought my PC new 2 years ago & have windows disc but lost the reg nomb took it off put in somewhere forgot where lol old age anyway can I fix this and remove it? ...also my pc is now on safe mode & keeps shutting down on me for some reason about once a week & lags on start up .done all clean ,defrag, etc still lags Thank you Trisha
well i have a 4gb ram pc with windows 7(an old one), and it didn't lag at first but it now has started lagging too much. And as an old pc my father's files are there which are very important, so I can't reboot it. I have downloaded just one game called Minecraft which mostly relies on GPU. At first I could play with medium settings. But now i get it to super low settings and it still lags. I thought storage might be the problem but after I deleted some folders which I downloaded when I was a kid(games, application etc), nothing happened. And TODAY, I can't even run 2 programs at once I can't even open a new tab. You might say that 'buy a new pc' But what really happened to my pc? Please tell me If you can. Thanks...
Actually something is really so cool that ....This vid was uploaded on 2009 and that is quite a long time ago and it's still working...Still active Thx btw :D
I have a laptop that was running slow and I got rid of a lot of PUPs in it and then did a complete restore, but it's still slow, it runs faster than before but still very slow and I'm not sure what the cause of it
All this means is that a portion of your RAM is set aside for the onboard graphics processor. this occurs when the graphics are integrated to the mainboard. I think it may also be the case for intel i3/5/7 CPU's with integrated graphics. This is perfectly normal.
You can always safely empty the temp folder, as this is only a storage for unnecessary files that are created when moving data or loading files. Basically, it's like emptying the cache :)
To speed up the computer manually takes more time than using the software to do so. Recently I used a computer clean up utility to speed up the PC i.e. Ninja TuneUp utility which had removed all the junk files from the system successfully.
@MarianaSteal1975 I use C-Cleaner, Registry Mechanic (the full version), and Smart Defrag. Smart Defrag doesn't bog down system resources but I have an AMD Phenom II X6 and an SSD, either way, it's better than the windows defrag tool that's built in. Registry Mechanic (the one I have) maintains the registry and runs at least once a day, and if you uninstall a program, move it, rename it, it's always a good idea to run it maunally... it never hurts.
stefanManiak262011 :) Since Windows 7 the OS it's defragmenting your disc automatically, you do not have to do it yourself any more, also you have to be check that your SSD boot drive it's not checked for defragmentation, only the mechanical drives can be defragmented.
As long as your not playing any BIG games or running 15 programs at once you should be fine. Games (and other programs such as maya) will require about 4 gigs to play without much lag (I went a little overboard and bought 10gigs.)
I also have about 400 Gb of memory..... so is that good on memory? I would have more but I've had this computer for like a year now so yeah I've downloaded quiet a few things.....
Hey. now i have a gateway nv55so5u laptop. it has 6.00 ram and 1.50 GHz.out of the 6.00 ram 5.48 is usable. but this computer is slow. what is the cause of it?
If you feel the need to make it faster, try removing some non-essential programs from the startup queue; That is, programs that automatically start when you log on. Otherwise you could invest in an SSD or new processor, or an entirely new computer.
Thank you VERY Much! I have an Acer Aspire 4730Z Laptop, and it runs slow as heck on software and games like Minecraft and such. I hope this will help me on my ways for my gaming career, and hopefully I will get a PC in the future! XD
I had A Lot of desktop shortcuts, grouped them into folders named: Shortcut Image, shortcut game, shortcut exe, shortcut, music, shortcut video, shortcut url...
Best analogy for how a computer works imo after 5 years in I.T. tiring to explain things to people, You have your workers (CPU), work space like a desk or table for things your are actively doing (ram) and storage/filling cabinets (hard disk drive/solid state drive). If you dont have enough ram, its like trying to work on a project and you have to constantly put parts of your project back in storage and out of storage because you dont have the space on your desk witch hinders productivity alot
i have robocraft but when i play it says not responding i checked my internet the internet was fine i now that the computer is the one that is slow i conot play robocraft 2gig ram so slow
i have a problem i have a sony valo and it has a a problem it freezes randomly and when it freezes it takes at least 40-50 secs to respond i dont know what to do i have tried to defrag, virous scan, registry clean every thing and it still freezes i did the folder thing and it still freezes any help message me plz
You forgot to mention a virus clean up. Heat can also slow your computer. Desktops can use more fans and laptops can use bases that come with fans or just placing them on a flat surface instead of your lap or a bed. You can also install a SSD. Its always good to know a tech. Most of the time a friend that knows more about computers than you does not count as a tech. If all fails. Wipe and reload.
Hey all of you great computer experts! I am confused about a lot of the comments. Can someone tell me in simple words how I can fix my PC from: being very slow, not responding to web pages, etc., the page I am on just disappears, " recover webpage" is a constant thing. I use Slim Cleaner almost daily to get rid of stuff. Is there any advise that you can give me? Thank you very much!
+Linda Tuttle Hey, sorry for not seeing this any earlier, but here's a few tips: Download MAlwareBytes Anti-Malware, and run it. Download AdwareCleaner And run it. Make sure you're using Google Chrome, then download "AdBlock" Download Microsoft Security Essentials And Run it. These are just some of the things i do, and it always helps, hope it helps you to!
Ram is important the more the better. But the simplest and cheapest way is stop downloading apps and software that either you don't know what it is or or you don't need it, some software even if you don't use it some will be running in the background which slows your computer by at least 30%
Excellent name for your company! I don't know why you get so much criticism on this page - you have given a great presentation. My internet is usually what is slow. I try resetting (chrome), and even refreshing my Windows 10, and the internet is still slow. I have ATT U-verse (the slowest or cheapest speed because nothing else is available where I live for some reason). When I start videos (on any ad or certain web pages) It does take quite a while to load up - and then might only play for a few seconds at a time - I also find this happens when trying to watch TV shows on cbs.com or nbc.com. Do you have any idea what might be going on? I checked my start up and optimized my computer, and I have a lot of RAM (8GB) on a Dell desktop computer. Thanks for your attention! Rob.

Being a Computer science graduate, I was unaware of the fact that disabling few startup applications will ruin the computer. It results in booting up issues. I had a very bad time disabling my startup apps. This video is pretty much useful . Thumps up

It's his hot face, isn't it Michelle.
He looks like Ron Livingston.

I really appreciated this-- thank you!
I have my disk defragmenter on a schedule, will that slow my computer down?

@Bud42Gent After terabyte its tetrabyte if im not mistaken,
and my mistake. ive already been corrected like 3 times,
so thanks for repeating it a 4th!
@MarianaSteal1975 What are you running in your "windows box"? Why call it a box? Are you talking about the tower, etc?

thank you so very much for helping us that know so little about computers.
best advice yet..thanks geeky
Thank you so much, UNDERTALE wasn't loading for me and this fixed it.
Omg your computer works
I used to have that! I upgraded to 2GB! lol. Do you have a Pentium 4 Processor?
this is the best software i have ever come across it works on all desktop pcs and old laptops as well

Viktor Stoimenov :) On windows XP, and even Vista maybe, you had to manually empty the temporary files folder, since 7 and the next one, the OS does it automatically ...
back when 1gb was plenty of ram for the latest os omfg
Awesome It actully works thanks man :)
