Inspired by some awesome and authentic wheels from Creative One 64, I take on the second generation Toyota Supra A60 by Matchbox. The casting was made for just three short years between 1983 and 1985 with only one variation of tampo design. It is a real shame as it is a very nice casting that could have benefitted from some development. It only remained in the US mainline for two years which is even more bizarre.
My casting had been painted over its original white in a lot of black paint or marker by a former owner. The windscreen was covered anywhere it was exposed, as was the exterior of the body. Inspired by this act of transformation, I opted to customise mine with a black paint job teamed with the custom wheels. What resulted was a great looking OEM version of the real thing with some subtle detailing.
The A60 Supra was in production between 1981 and 1986. Like its A40 predecessor, it was in essence an elongated Celica housing a six instead of a four cylinder engine. However, the second generation incorporated the most 80s of features; popup headlights. It was replaced in 1987 by the A70 Supra which was given a bigger engine. Later, the famed A80 Supra replaced that in 1993 before its eventual discontinuation in 2002. Of course, the Supra name returned in 2019 attached to the co-developed with BMW Z4-based GR Supra.

This is such a great looking resto/custom! I like the new wheels and tire and I think the black is a nice touch. The former owner would be proud of your work. Thanks for sharing this.
Fine job Jason. Wheel swap really transforms an rather otherwise non discriped casting, especially in black.
Keep er lit ya boy ye
Just found your channel and watching away! Well done on this Supra! I have totes of old cars that I'm gonna start trying some restorations on. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Neat resto of an old classic car. Great research too. A fun little video, a job well done!
Perfect job 🇧🇷
God this one came out beautifully. Those rims complete the look.
Great transformation Jason, the first car I owned was an 85 Celica GT-S 5 speed manual, though mine was Gold and black, this restomod took me back to my teens lol, as the two were very similar in body design. Thanks for sharing!!
You were spot on with the wheels🔥🔥
Another good job. The wheels are a real touch.
Just beautiful Jason. 🥐🤗☕👌
Wheels are great. Would have preferred another color as I’m not a great fan of black cars, but that’s just a taste. Terrific work as always. 😊👍👍
Another great video is always there Jason keep up the good work have a good one and God bless
As always, spectacular!!
Really clean.
Great job 👍🏻
Very nice!
The Supra came out great, the wheels really finished it off and the black suits it well 😊
looks great, nice and clean. :) another option could have been to paint it like the AE86 Supra from the InitialD anime, but I think that is already overdone. besides black signal colours could have looked fine, with a black hood to go, for example.
but yeah, black is beautiful. :)
Party time ⚡️ All the time
Wow, that's a massive improvement Jason 👏
The detailing and new wheels really add to what could be a bland model considering that it's all black. The only thing that would improve it more would be if it originally had clear glass to make the interior stand out more.
I agree and I would have added some if I could find something suitably amber tinted. The original castings didn’t have any fitted rather oddly
Like the way you did it
I drove a Celica in the 80’s I always wanted the Supra though.
I used the top spoiler from the boot lid off one of these to turn a Playart Volvo 343 into a 360GLT 😂
Magnificent restoration Jason.
That is one of your best yet a really great transformation. Would it be worth trying to 'glaze' the rear liftback section?
It was more the amber tinting that was the issue to match the rest of the windscreen. That thought hadn’t passed me by though!
Nice restoration, details and paint job 👌 👍
Not to nitpick, but the car is missing the rear glass….
But otherwise it’s a good restoration and those wheels look great!
it never came with one

Really?
I didn’t know that
Wow!
Nice resto but no back hatch window? You could use any see through plastic for that.
The rest of the tint was amber though. I thought it might look a bit odd with clear plastic
great job! One question: what kind of product do you use to clean the windshield? Greetings
Dettol antiseptic liquid removed that layer of black paint, then a wash in soapy water, then polish with Polywatch scratch remover, finally liquid wood floor polish, then it’s done!
@@DieCastRestos thanks!!
Good job as always….
But my ocd kicked in as I noticed that the rear hatch is missing the glass.
I’m wondering if not having glass is supposed be that way…..
Anyway, good job as always
Yes as I’ve said in some other comments in never had any fitted from new. If it were clear I could easily have added in a piece of plastic but since it was amber tinted it would prove difficult to get a matching shade. I assume Matchbox left it out in order to make it easier to open and close the tailgate
