18 - Drone with Special Guest! | Killer Bees, Presidential Innuendo, Annette’s Brilliance & Textbook Lex Bribery #smallville #talkville #season1 - Zábava
This podcast is slowly turning Michael in to Lex 😂😂😂😂
oh no...
😂😂😂😂
Hilarious! 😂🤣
He should cut his hair slightly shorter each episode until he is fully bald in the finale.
@@Ixnatifual by then it would naturally fall out from anger 😂😂
It's a running joke in our family that Lex has the worst security team, if he really has one at all. We watched one episode where they said security was tied up in the basement and we were like, "Eh they were probably down there hanging out anyway and didn't even fight it." 🤣
The reason why we never see Clark doing his homework is because he has super speed! His is done in the blink of an eye.
of course!!!
Or we never see anyone doing there homework, or even talking about there homework
He not only has super speed, he apparently has super thinking.
@@dan_hitchman007 Yep! You'd have to have super fast thinking if you were able to move at those speeds.
You guys clearly made Zach's day! I think it is awesome that you brought on a guest from the community. Keep up the fantastic work!
Annette's performances are always amazing!
flawless
i like how Tom's background has been chancing over the episodes. Back then was an empty room and now is shapping more and more into a man-cave. Good for you Tom!
- heh I thought it was looking more lived in :)
I'm not sure if Ryan will read this comment but this episode is a prime example of why people love this show. You guys are just genuinely nice to your fans and we appreciate that more than you will ever know.
In a way, the difference between Tom's positivity and Michael's "s**ting on the show" reflects the Clark and Lex dynamic.
Lol
But I like how honest Michael is.
@@BrandonNinja agreed. i honestly like Michael's criticism of the show and the episodes better then Tom's because at least Michael doesn't overthink everything like Tom does and nit pick the episodes and point out all the mistakes and plothole's in the episodes. what makes it even worse is like 90% percent of Tom's nit picks aren't even mistakes in the episodes he's just overthinking everything and thinking about it too much. ps one more thing i don't think Michael shits on the episodes at all he's just giving his honest opinion and i always thought Michael was fair in his Criticism of the Smallville episodes and he was being "objective" and he was "unbiased" and i appreciate that.
@@BrandonNinja They're all honest, Michael is just more of a critic while Tom is more of an analyst and Ryan gives us fresh takes.
@@coreynance3874 The fact that Tom and Michael have a different approach is what make the podcast great. Like the guest said it gives the podcast a good balance. Michael is more of a critic while Tom is more of an analyst, both approaches are valids and needed.
Ironically the bad episodes make the most entertaining podcast episodes
funny how that works out :)
Michael “s**ting on the show” is my favorite!🤣🤣🤣
I like Michael's honesty. It is good to often have differing points if view. It keeps your conversations intesesting.
"The wardrobe budget is set! Where will we find another flannel?! Fuck!" 🤣🤣 This banter is the best part of the this show 🔥🔥
Clark just appearing unannounced has always been one of the funniest ongoing gags. By season 5 you just crack up . Especially when they started leaning into it
I like your honesty Michael 😊💜🐾
So I was watching this in the breakroom at work today and a co-worker came in and said “Is that Talkville???” Turns out we were both big fans of the show when it was on, and we bonded over that! Smallville-still bringing people together 20 years later. 😂
I gave the episode 🌹. I liked the Clark and Chloe plot, even though Clark was a little oversensitive. I was proud of Chloe for standing her ground and pointing out the truth of the situation. Clark really wasn’t cut out for that position, at least not as he is now.
Great time with you guys as always!
In the comics part of Clark’s invulnerability is producing an aura that protects clothing close to his skin. Fun fact: The scenes where the “bees” are hitting windows they are made from puffed wheat, styrofoam and popcorn that was painted black and gold and launched at the windows with air movers.
Yes, the solar electric field explained during the Post Crisis era.
I just wrote (and then deleted) this. I remember seeing the aura note in Lois and Clark from the 90s.
Thank you for posting this!! I thought I'd read that in a comic years ago! 😄
Thanks for explaining how the bees were made. Hope they weren't painted one by one!
Iba a escribir lo mismo... Clark is growing on... So the aura is appearing... Saludos 🇨🇱
Love the back and forth between Tom & Michael. Always bring so much to the conversation.
thanks buddy
@@TalkVillePodcast ojalá regresarais para una película final en Streaming de Smallville,no se si me entenderéis no hablo inglés,un saludo.
“Tom played the Rusty Trombone” had me absolutely dying 😂
I couldn't believe nobody reacted to that!! I LOL'd very loud!
I picked up on that immediately. 😂
same! XD
The balance of the conversion I like
I was 'extra' excited for this week's episode knowing Zach was a guest. Inside of You and Always Hold On To Smallville were the first two podcasts I ever listened to, with Michael and Tom being my 'first'. So happy Zach finally got Tom's intro for his podcast after waiting all these years. I hope to see Zach again soon.
From what I've seen online, listeners/fans seem to enjoy the behind the scenes and personal stories the most. We know what's great and what's crap and can ever laugh at the ridiculous.
Smallville fans almost salivate when they learn new information and stories they've heard on Talk Ville but there's little buzz regarding the other parts. It's more enjoyable when Tom, Michael and guest stars discuss each episode more in-depth and talk about what happened while making Smallville (Gough, Millar, and Beeman were fantastic), which is what everyone seems to be tuning in for. This is also what separates Talk Ville from other Smallville rewatch podcasts (and there are quite a few out there now) 😀
Agreed.
I like hearing about the production costs (they blew up a shed in this episode AND then had Clark climb out of the rubble - awesome stunt for a filler episode.)
Also like Tom’s comment about the attack on Martha was an homage to Hitchcock.
Would like to hear Ryan’s comments on episodes as he is a virgin viewer, as I recall some of my own thoughts/feelings the first time I saw these episodes.
And a wardrobe question : some plaid shirts lasted season after season, but we only saw that red shirt once. What gives?
I enjoy the dynamic between Tom, Michael, and Ryan. Being honest is important, and Zach's right on the money about how all positive or all negative gets old fast. I know it's really far in the future, but I hope the show could get Sarah Carter for the Alicia Baker episodes.
Honestly I love the back and forth between perspectives and I love Michael being honest about the show. I'm usually on the easily pleased side, so it's nice to see. Thanks for this podcast guys!
appreciate ya!
"HE'S SHITTING ON IT AGAIN!" 😂😂
Rosenbaum’s critique of episodes is refreshingly entertaining.
I'm not certain that I've ever seen one podcast support a different podcast that they aren't actually connected to. Really awesome guys.
Still my favorite opening theme song for any podcast!!
It's super chill
thanks dude :)
Zach encapsulated my opinion perfectly. Michael's critical analysis, Tom's sunny optimism and Ryan's newcomer perspective are a PERFECT blend when rating and discussing the show. Don't worry about being too critical or lenient, give your honest opinion whether it's an objective analysis or feel based, it's great to hear what you really think and see you go back and forth talking about the show
Completely agree! Well put.
I think the way Sashas actor performed was supposed to emulate a frantic bee, that had the mentality of the power hungry ruler whose reign was temporary. Also yes, Clark has an open invitation to the mansion. Because in the later season, I believe when Lex and Lana are together Lex says Clark's unannounced visits are over.
i just watched that episode
not just that BUT the Kryptonite infection generally enhances whatever the heightened emotion was at the time and correct regarding Lexana which was Seasons 5 and 6
@MattZRJSRoxy I don't think Clark was infected when it happened. If I remember Clark barges in and accuses him of something and as Clark leaves Lex says his visits are over.
@@KingRoronoa888 I think they might've been talking about Sasha being "a little much" due to the kryptonite. Which I agree is AN explanation and is probably intentional by the writers and directors - after all it'd start to feel really morally questionable to be racking up a body count if all the kryptovillains were otherwise typical people having a weird day - but it does make the show feel a little juvenile compared to when it has more grounded villains, as Michael points out.
@jerodast well, we need to remember they are supposed to be high-school students. So they treat anything important to them like if it's going to disappear. So I can understand having some, "childish" villains or plot. Frankly, I think the episode would be higher rated if it was in a different season. Sucks she gets killed later.
As someone's who been honoured to appear on Zach's podcast and has seen first hand his love and passion for Smallville and Superman the character to the point he's made me see him a new light, it was awesome to see him here. Love that you guys support what Zach's doing and are always holding on (lol) to the fan's opinion.
Congrats for 2 MILLION VIEWS !!! 🎉🎊🎉
thanks pal
@@TalkVillePodcast You are welcome, Ryan.
Zach was awesome, very original dynamic hearing the discussion between you all!
In the Superman comics, the reason his clothes aren't affected is because he emits a field around his body that protects his clothes and can extend to other people as well.
just wanted to write the same comment guess I will just like yours
Oh really? I always assumed it was because his clothes were made of kryptonian material (made out of blankets he was wrapped in as a baby)
@@shaunblake7411 it's a more recent revelation, I think earlier explanations were more in line with what you said.
Hiro Kanagawa who plays the principal has appeared on Arrow, voiced Reed Richards in Fantastic Four: The Worlds Greatest Heroes, appeared on Star Trek: Discovery. Also Marguerite Moreau from Mighty Ducks guest starring was so wonderful. I wish we saw more of that character in Smallville. She could've been a nice love interest for Lex Luthor.
He also appeared in Netflix’s Altered Carbon. I was like, “It’s Principal Kwan!”
He voiced Reed there? Are you serious? Whoa
and Izombie
He also appeared as the nutcracker guy in supernatural
@@ninjanibba4259 Yup he voiced Reed Richards. You can watch the whole series on Disney Plus all 26 episodes. It appeared on Cartoon Network originally back in 2006.
I wanted to sat THANK YOU for the show 20 years ago. I was 11 when this premiered. It helped me. As a person with a noticeable physical disability that kept me from sports but could walk and be fully independent. It helped me realize that I could be myself and that was great and enough. It gave me confidence and I thank you so much!
Sheesh I was 8 wow who would have thought we all be here
I’ve been a huge fan of Smallville from the beginning in 2001. This is such a great opportunity for me to rewatch with all of you. Thank you so much for doing this and sharing yourselves through it all.
I love Michael’s criticism towards the episodes! He sees it through a fan’s perspective. Tom and Ryan’s input are different views as well. Three unique amazing perspectives from three amazing dudes! Love it!
There were some episodes in Smallville, like this one, that ended with the camera pointing to the night sky and I always enjoyed the suspense of disbelief in these situations. Also, loved the scene with Anette and the bees, she always does a stunning job :)
Really fun to have Zach on!
he's the man
Great to see Zach from Always Hold Onto Smallville. Been listening to his Podcast for years! He and Craig from Kryptonsite are the definitive Smallville experts! Thank you Tom and Michael for your Podcast : )
The two of you flawlessly banter and it is hilarious and heartwarming. I love you both so much and this recap of the show is really an amazing thing.
🤣❤️
That opening jingle is such a catchy tune
thanks buddy
Michael PLEASE ignore the naysayers! I LOVE your inputs it's literally what got me into Smallville again. You're more thoughtful with your inputs!❤️❤️
I think it's incredible that you brought Zach on and it shows how in tuned to the Smallville community you guys are and how much this show really does mean to you both! Cheers!
"sigh - bees" 😄(I always appreciate Michael's honesty). Another great Talk Ville episode, great to hear from Zach, interesting to point out that bees is like another 'bug' episode, it felt a little fatigued - but on the other hand it was nice to see Clark actually doing high school stuff. I agree that Martha definitely had the best scene, Annette was wonderful as always. One thing that did make me laugh, was Lana complaining about The Beanery wanting to take her down... when you know, The Beanery was there first, and then Lana came along with The Talon, and took business away from them - you can't really blame them for being a little upset 😄 Thanks Rosey, Tom, Ryan, and Zach, always great to hear your thoughts ❤
hahaha :)
BEADS?
Agreed on the Beanery vs Talon. The entire life of the Talon felt like the show declaring "Lana shall have all she desires handed to her, so that all shall bask in her glory". As a high school freshman, she's (supposedly) running a small business because her rich friend is funding it all, when there was no demand for it in an already saturated market. Come on!
Good morning! Always hold on to talkville. Always hold on to Smallville it's good to be here now let's get this! Woot woot!!
Always. loved Zach
I gotta say, I been watching since the beginning of this podcast. It is the only podcast I look forward to every week like a TV show. Hats off to Micheal, Tom, and Ryan. Love the podcast keep up the fantastic work fellas.
Micheal, I LOVE your criticisms but also your defensiveness about it is honestly hilarious and part of the fun. Never change! 😂❤
Totally agree on Ryan's input. Only adds to the experience and puts a third completely unique perspective onto the show
I love how Tom calls Michael calls out Michael for crapping on the show 😂😂😂😂
I give it 1 Rose 🌹 cause of the sfx and Superman references. Kind of the perfect time to show this episode the day after the election
I personally love Michael’s brutal honesty, so refreshing and makes the podcast worth watching ❤
This Episode was funny bcs Tom had to battle Sunlight as well. and as always the inside talk golden
100%
It's a great mix of opinions and angles
i think the story really picks up in season two, first season is pretty much just setting up all the characters and location and tone.
Annette was fantastic as always. Can't wait to see her as a guest on the podcast. Some great stories with Martha coming up in S2.
Annette seems to be the consistent favorite aspect of the show for these 2 😀
I took her for granted when I watched it growing up, but they opened my eyes here.
Bees "controller" AKA Sasha Woodman was "only" 29 when " Drone" was filmed, playing 15 year old. 😄🤔 Stereotypical story about "nerd" ( wearing glasses, of course - so original) who is less popular in school. By the way, gorgeous looking Queen Bee😃. Bees attacks were fun. Drone was one of the weaker 😁 s1 ep, but it's my guilty pleasure. Sasha was "cured" and killed is season 7 by Superman dr Knox! After back to back weaker episodes Reaper and Drone, next one Crush is great! 🌹 for Drone. Zach was cool👍Always hold on to Smallville❤
This is really a good time. Love listening to you guys.
thanks Mario
I am enjoying listening to this week’s episode of Talkville. This episode definitely has a lot of foreshadowing especially with Lex mentioning that he would want to run for President. Lana definitely is one busy person. I would definitely agree that Michael is the realist of the show. Annette gave another great performance as well. Poor Ryan getting a spoiler alert.
Therese!!! love ya
More Moore, please! An awesome guy and podcast host. Love seeing you guys have him on and embracing how much work he’s done for the fandom!
For me this was the first episode of Smallville I had ever watched, on YTV as a rerun in Canada while the show was still being made. I was hooked and I made sure to watch whatever episodes I could and then my parents bought me the first few seasons so I caught up and started watching at the beginning of season 5 on the old space channel up here in Canada. I thank you and everyone who was involved because this is still easily one of my most favourite shows ever. I will always hold on to Smallville 😁
Listening to this while sipping on coffee and playing ragnarok...its a good day!
right on buddy
You guys are the best, been a rough couple weeks and this show takes me out of my problems for an hour, thank you ♥️
glad we can help robby rob :)
MICHAEL ROSENBAUM is a LEGEND
I love this podcast. I talk to everyone I see about it, regardless, if they watch the show or not.
Another so so episode. The scene where Clark freezes the bees attacking the Talon always amuses me, neither he (I know Clark has impenetrable skin) or Lana are stung and she doesn't question how he managed to freeze the bees without completely freezing his hand off.
Lana is stung. She's treating the sting in the next scene and says something along the lines of "the insurance paperwork is going to hurt more than the sting".
@@TheDonkeyJoteI must’ve missed that
YES! Talkville Wednesdays, let's GO!🎊🎉
happy Wednesday!
Zach Moore the ultimate Smallville fan! Great guest!
I think it's great to have fans on the show as well
I wanted you guys to know; I was 11yo when this show came out. This had a major impact on my teenage years, and to some degree who I grew into.
Thank you both, and to all the others that made this show
Also talk about y’all’s work schedule for instance what time did you guys find yourselves going to bed waking up exercising etc?? How did you find time to do what you wanna do??
Best part of the week is watching you guys talk about the best show ever !!!
Ur DAMN RIGHT
Michael's honesty is awesome, and he's spot on. Totally agree.
Zach is great. Love that you guys had him on. Hope you have him on at least once a season.
it is always worth it waiting up until midnight for the new pod episode 😮💨🔥
youre amazing tyler!
Love the show!! Thanks for all the guest stars!! Would love to see Justin Hartley on when GA shows up
Mario Puzo was the head writer of the screenplay for the Superman Movie. :)
Tom's overall positivity, Michaels happy negativity, and Ryan's casual moderating makes this podcast so refreshing and enjoying.
I like Michael's more realistic point of view on the show. After watching the podcast episodes I am going back and watching the series again with more of a realistic point of view and it is like seeing it with new eyes.

As someone who watched the Smallville series for the first time last year I absolutely fell in love with the show. The small nuances and character development is so endearing and is something missing from today’s television. I stumbled on this podcast and just finished binging the rest of the episodes. Can’t wait for more!
Episode 18 does push the story towards the finale though High School popularity~school dance. I think it was placed well in the season
Loving these episodes!! Been kinda binging some random ones and really enjoyed seeing Lana Lang
i love when we go into the barn where the 'queen bee' the window is shaped like a honeycomb.
ahh damn. missed that
Can't wait to hear your views on the finale. I absolutely love it 😊🐾💜👍
42:02 oh and that’s Christopher reeves Superman line from 1978 movie!👍
I look forward to Wednesday’s now, each new episode of this podcast. Thank you, guys.
I actually rewinded the "we don't know the same people" line. I love how Rosenbaum delivered it, it was so "Lex".
Just bought 2 shirts ... love you guys, Thanks for all the Smallville memories!
The homework commentary killed me, because I remember thinking back in the day that'd be a funny episode, just Clark running around doing the superman thing, but desperately needing to study for a test, and kind of playing into the idea that everybody just keeps showing up at his loft unannounced, whenever he's in there trying to study, Lex or someone just showing up out of the blue. Maybe they did do an episode like that. I can't recall. it's ripe for dramedy.
According to what Tom has said, that sounds exactly what went on behind the scenes: Clark (Tom) rushing around doing the show when Lex (Michael) shows up to distract him and run lines.
It'd a very spider-man vibe, to have him struggling to balance the mundane with superhero stuff. I dunno if it'd be good or bad really.
Well, Clark ditched his study group
Hope Michael will talk to his friend James Gunn soon and we'll see you guys back in DCU soon!
I can't wait to see Ryan's reaction to the ICONIC Mr. Fordham's funeral scene in episode #19 !!! Still one of my favorite TV scenes of all time. Slow motion in the rain, music "Time After Time" cover, the callback of Clark standing near the Angel statue in the cemetery... the interplay of emotions between all the characters... just a fantastic production! :)
I'm calling it now: ALL 3 will choose the funeral as Ryan's fav scene.
Man of tomorrow is forged by his battles today is my favorite quote ever. It’s so good
Love Weds mornings with this podcast!
Glad to hear it!
AWESOME I LOVED THIS EPISODE U GUYS REALLY ENJOY IT CAN'T WAIT TILL SEASON 2 I WILL HAVE MANY ? KEEP IT UP GUYS!
be there soon :)
LOLOLOLOL "TOM PLAYED THE RUSTY TROMBONE!" That was too funny.
Loved Smallville, Im Mike from the UK, reminds me of younger years. What a great show it was, talkville is great too. The way you talk about the little things as well. Keep it up guys. Plus Smallville is one of the best series of all time and also one of the few shows that has over 20 episodes in every season, even season 10.👍.
Most go down to 10 or 13 episodes at the final seasons.
Drone and Reaper back to back is always brutal because they're both awful. 🙈
But at least Drone has hidden nuggets like "I stand for Truth, justice, and other stuff", "Man of Tomorrow", and MM is so hot with the way she plays Carrie Castle. Her chemistry and tension with Rosey was on FIRE. 🔥
Plus Clark's "I must have tough skin" always makes me laugh when Lana asks why he wasn't stung at the Talon. 🤣 It does bug me though when Kwan knows it's Felize just by the car. No principal is that involved with the students. LMAO
true. at least we finish this first season on a higher note with the next few
I just watched Bringing Down The House with Steve Martin and was pleased to see Michael playing in the movie also.
This was 2003 so it had to be while he was also filming Smallville, so he had to be wearing a wig in the movie. Also would love to hear his take on working with Queen Latifah.
Keep up the great work guys!
Woah...that's weird. I saw "Steve Martin" and "2003" and automatically just read it as Tom Welling, who was in _Cheaper by the Dozen_ with him. Weird they both had that connection the same year!
This is the best quality Tom has looked/sounded so far Rosey. Obviously your studios camera is elite 😆 but it’s really coming together and adds so much to the show. There’s SO MANY story lines we can’t wait to hear you guys talk about!!
Idk who is in charge or if it’s a collection of contributors but hats off to all the fun facts or points of interest. I love those and the research it must take every episode to find those. I love all the nods and production acting secrets Tom shares too. Love this PODCAST!
Absolutely loving this podcast, please keep doing what you're doing!
thanks buddy
