To remember Ammonium: Ammonium has MON, which can remind you of mountain. People go to New Hampshire (NH) for (4) the mountains and have a good (+) time
To remember acetate: Acetate rhymes with Harry's Date, and in Harry Potter, Harry's date was (CHO) Chang. You see (C) and observe (O) with (2) eyes. The second letter of "hear" is e, which can look like a 3 if it is in some fonts.

This was helpful, but some of the people here may need to learn 32 Polyatomic Ions, instead of 27.
For those people, I have made an extended version of the Nick mnemonic, using the same rules.
NICK the BABY CAMEL ate a 1 INCH CLAM for SUPPER in PHOENIX with his friend SILAS the MANLY BEAVER who believed in the OCCULT, "PERO" (Spanish for but) had CREPES alone.
    SILAS- Silicate
    BEAVER- Borate
    MANLY- Permanganate
    OCCULT- Oxalate
    PERO- Peroxide
Acetate, Ammonium kinda just have to be memorised. Hydroxide can be remembered with 'OH' and the rest can be remembered using the different prefixes and -ites. Thio adds a Sulfur.

I saw this a year and a half ago when I first took a chem class. It helped me a ton then, and I use it all the time now. After I took that class, I decided I want to major in chem so I can teach, because I love it so much and it’s fairly easy for me to understand and explain. This sentence made it a lot easier for me to feel like I understand chem and know what’s going on in reactions. I plan to share it with my future students to help them. I will literally be forever grateful for this video!!
