Yea the subtext was awful and the inconsistencies to what they were-saying to what they actually meant. But most people are not exactly like. this, this was just an exaggeration.
1) The feeling about being insecure was I am sure real
2) Someone saying I am going to call you when they have no intention to was real as well
3) The joke about pickle ball not being a manly sport I was also really to.
( But yes it isn’t cool the way they lie about their true feels and intentions. )
@@victoryartist1641 The thing I do not understand is someone saying, "Let's get coffee sometime" when they don't actually want to (same with the "I'll call you" thing; it's in the same vein). Here I was, dumb me, whenever someone said that to me, being like, "Hey, so when works for you?" Then I found out somewhere that most people don't mean this when they say it. Which just baffles me. So just . . . I dunno, don't say it then? What's wrong with saying, "Well, it's been fun catching up, have a good one," and leaving it at that?

Interesting, because in my place nobody acts like that. You are supposed to complain about something, while sneaking a humblebrag here and there. Eg. JP would not accept a compliment of his looks with: *Yea, I work hard and consistent in the gym.". He'd rather complain about some minor injury, and say something about his young and healthy looks being mostly an illusion.
