I remember doing this piste a few years ago! My instructor was talking about how it would make us real skiers if we were able to do it at the end of the week. I remember going through that tunnel and just thinking: "Whelp... there is no going back now". The piste started with a 1 m drop which made us all really scared! But luckily our instructor told us we could do it! The adrenaline rush you get when you are on the slow part is so amazing! Looking back on it, that piste wasn't that scary and loads of fun. But skiing it is still one of the moments I vividly remember!!
Oh and what an amazing video!!
Thanks for watching! It’s such a great piste! Come and ski with me next time you’re in Alpe d’Huez- there are many more amazing pistes- just less famous than this one- but equally as great! 👍👍
@@Cookiesports you should try Courchevel too if you haven't, very nice pistes there, love Grand Couloir and Couloir Emile Allais :). Bit steeper than Tunnel I think, but better snow most of the time. There are some other couloirs too but more difficult of access (couloir Y etc, 10 minutes walk/climb with skis on shoulder)
By end of the week does that mean you went from beginner to skiing this in a week?
@@zBMatt Not at all! I had been having lessons for years! When I became older, there wasn't much to learn. We mostly did some drills in the morning, a little checkup on where we could still improve and in the afternoon the instructors just did some guided skiing with us. So no, haha, I was definitely not a beginner in that week I did La Tunnel. 😅
Always fun, skillfully and informative. Great work. Looking forward to more. 👍
Haha! Thanks Mark Anderson!
Thanks, I have chills
🥶
I've watched a lot of these vids going through the tunnel and truly you are THE ONE who made it look like such a piece of Cooki....er....cake! Well done!
Hahah!!!
Thanks 🤩🤩
This was fantastic. Beautiful slopes. You make skiing look like a walk in the park. I guess you have been doing it from a very young age. Your skis look so slim. So impressive. Thanks from South Africa.
Thanks! 🤩🤩🤩
I started skiing at 17 years old!
Love this Cookie!
Happy memories of skiing Tunnel (glad I didn’t try the power plough though).
Super informative, love this ride along, thank you!
Never be the Power-Plough person! 😂
This guy was my first ever ski instructor in slow dhuez back in 2017, love alpe dhuez
🙋♂️ hiya!
@@Cookiesports here at the moment, love it so much
You make it look so easy. WOW.
🤩🤩🤩
Woooow that's amazing 🤩🤩
🤩🤩🤩
Great, Thanks for sharing !
My pleasure! 🤩🤩
Love it! Ridden it with anyone particularly cool recently?! Seriously though, thanks again for showing us around the other week. Great vids, keep em coming, and book Cookie if you’re in ADH 🤙
Couple of cool cats here and there! 😜
Thanks for the video. I had some memories of more speed, when I was child, above 75 km/h.
But nice run, smooth one.
👍👍👍
Tunnel!!!!
🤩🤩🤩
Just discovered your channel - great stuff! Did the Tunnel back in the late 90s, I think. The drop-in was different then and not so tight as it appeared on your film. Great long cruise out to relax on after the steep stuff!
Welcome aboard! 🤩🤩
Easy skiing!
When you’re as good are as you it’s all easy right! 🤣
Fred & I slid down it, I mean skied down it, with you today 😀
Cracking shot of me face planting in the powder btw 😂
Yeh you did! 🙌🙌
Hope the videos came out ok.
very nice, lovely control.. my legs would be burning!
Thanks!
Great video. Loved it.
I’m going to try similar helmet 360 - looks so good.
Cheers joe, we’ll work something out when I get back to Vass! 👍
I remember very well how I used to ski this slope with my friends from the Black Forest when I was young. We usually took a lunch break there and enjoyed everyone who took the run without skis on their butts - not by choice :-)
👍👍👍
Awesome man 🤝
🤩🤩
How does your camera work. One min I can see the attachment on your helmet ( by the shadows) then we are look right at you.
It’s an Insta360 camera… films full 360 degrees then you can cut and crop the view as you like. They’re so good!
Check these out….

👍👍👍
Nice video and impressive skill.
Years earlier there was nearly no net, you could ski down, next to the tunnel's exit. Nearly a dive but with more snow than on the icy scraped part on the right.
Then they added the turns and the nets because two many people fell in the first meters and could not stop securely.
Thanks!! There’s so many great route around Alpe d’Huez!
I was there from the 4th to the 11th February for the first time and it was Gorgeous weather all week and the pistes were generally amazing - unfortunately they had some issues with the pic blanc lift which was closed from Sunday but luckily opened on friday our last day so me and my buddy got to do me tunnel just in the knick og time and le tunnel is definitely a Special piste such a cool drop in and entrance to the pist3, however, I don't think it was necessarily much more difficult per say than the Col de Cloy piste but I really do enjoy these heavy mogul runs its a different way of skiing for sure and really gets your legs working. Great video!
Thanks 🤩🤩
I was there also then, but left on the 4th. While queuing after the actual tunnel part we witnessed two spectacular failures. One skier failed on the top part and slipped under the safety fence trying to grab the last pole of the fence and went down a very long way. Another one managed to do a kind of front roll on the top part and did not slide down but rolled down a looong way. Both of them did appear to ski away eventually fortunately.
Would love to try this 😍 amazing video
🤩🤩
Hey I know it's not about skiing but is there anything I can do on a slightly bigger windsurfing board to get me prepared for the transition to smaller ones. P.s love the ride along vids
Hi!
Thanks for the message! There is loads you can do… stay tuned to the channel- I’ll do a video on it soon! 👍
Man U made it look like come on guys this is nothing lol Thanx for the great video
Thanks! 🤩🤩
HELLO ALL , now you go far right at tunel exit , in the past or perhaps with more snow , we went directly down ....still more impressive .. good luck and be carefull ... what is the video device ? a drone ?
Camera is Insta360- details in description! 🤩🤩
Nice video. Thank you. What is the app you are using to show your data?
Thanks!
Garmin Virb 👌👌
Thanks a lot@@Cookiesports
thats goota be soo hard on a snowboard
Only hard when you have to scoot through the tunnel… from the other side it’s just as fun! I will film it soon for you!
In about 1996 it went 30 yards to the right of the tunnel exit, (to a vertical face) then straight down.
There been a lot of work done on the exit over the past few years! 🙌
@@Cookiesports exiting the tunnel, A mate went along the track, ( not much barriers?) then went down the icy mogul field, as it was then . On exit I followed another more experienced skier - he jumped down over the wall 3-4 ft drop into a very steep powder, then jump turns - it felt committing!. I did the same . My first proper off piste, joining the run lower down. Magic!🪄 After we ski out Down to the lifts, we both fell on an icy bit after joining the blue run.🙄 This has never been admitted to since. 🤣
@@danmcd5393 🤣 that sounds like quite an intro onto off-piste! 👌
Nice footage. I skied this twice in a row, top to bottom over 10 years ago. I was ready to call it a day after that.
What camera and app combo are you using? Great to see the data for the decent. 👌
Camera is Insta x2- link in the description. Data added after on garmin virb. ✅
@@Cookiesports Thanks 😀
Good skiing, probably. Never done it. But that camera is mental!
Thanks! The camera is so good isn’t it! I’ve got a few videos in the channel showing more about he cameras, link in the description if you want to check them out! 👍👍
Ok just one question? Why it's the difficutest "piste noir" of the world. Just beacause of the tunnel (which is honestly very very cool, I've never seen something like this before!!!). It's not a diificult way, it's just a marketing thing, I hope you're ok?
There’s easier and tougher blacks about of course
Great video
Thanks! 🤩
Great video - I hope to try that tunnel some day! What camera do you use? How did you add the red lines to indicate your route?
Thanks! If you’re coming to Alpe d’Huez I’d be happy to guide your around- all contact details and info in the description.
All filmed on an InstaOneX2, sound on an InstaMic, and overlays on Canva. 👍👍
Love every second of your video, but not my skiing level. Especially moguls. I would need quite some time to find out how to pass each of them :) You did it so promptly...
Come and join me for some coaching… we’ll get you loving those bumps in no time!
Thanks 🤩🤩
im going there for a school trip i think
👍
Its literally why he's doing the video, to commentate on the route🤷🏼♂️
Yes… I skied the route with the purpose of uploading here to show and tell people what it’s about! 👍👍👍
11 lat temu byłem i marze by tam wrócić i znaleźć ten tunel 😀
🤩🤩
It must feel great to be able to ski like that. I was a terrible failure when I tried to learn to ski!! Useless at it 🙁
You can do it, just need the right location and a good teacher! 👍👍
@@Cookiesports Maybe! I am English. My instructor was Japanese who’s only other language was German. He gave the instructions in German and the French family who made up our ski classes, translated the German to French for me! Tricky! 😆
You're not the only one. Grew up in the Indian Ocean and came to live in the Alps, and learned to ski for my kids who are excelling at it and my grandkids too. But I never really had fun at it. I am just not a mountain mensch. Send me scuba diving😂 Having said that I love watching good skiers, mostly spectacular free riders.
I've been skiing since 5 years old and we're going to this ski area in a couple months. On the videos it doesn't seem that hard, but I know I don't do great with steep, narrow slopes, so the first part after the tunnel looks horrid to me.
Drop me a message, we could do some training and get ready to check this in off your list! 👍
OMG how did you get the speed dashboard?
Cool right!
Just record and sync the gpx file! 👌
@@Cookiesports what is syncing gpx file?
@@tangyble a gpx file holds the telemetry data (speed, altitude, location ect). You record this on a device, then sync (match) the video to it- I used garmin virb for this. 👍
I’ve never ⛷️ so this looks terrifying to me! I’m sure it fun for competent skier’s, but I’ll just watch from here 😬
Join me for some lessons… maybe we won’t ski this run, but we could train some useful skills that’d help you! 👍👍
Bugger that. Until skill wise I'm moving from high intermediate to advanced the only tunnel I want to ski through is the one in La Plagne.
Come and ski with me in Alpe d’Huez… we can do some training and get the skills ready for it! 🤩🤩
Hello Cookie , Barney is my brother
Hello,
That’s nice! 👍
are you an esf instructor there?
Sure am! Contact details in descriptions for lesson enquiries! 👍
@@Cookiesports i've just been there and spent a week with an esf instructor learning
This guy never stops talking on the way down.
🗣️ sure thing! 🤩🤩
Check out other vid’s in the channel! 👍👍
Ok you make that look not too terrifying … maybe I’ll send Phil and the kids down first to test it out, or book a lesson - if we come back to Alpe d’Huez!
Contact details in the description… looking forward to your emails and skiing together! 👍
2:43 JACE was here
🤩
I wouldn't want to travel there and have to deal with those crappy snow conditions.
Haha! It’s not the whole area like this 🤣…the Tunnel a famous run of the area…like the Swiss wall, Grand Coulior or many other classics of each area.
Doesn’t mean there amazing nice or pleasant, but often seen as a right of passage when visiting areas! 👍👍
haha how disgusting you made it look easy! ;) Comparing to other videos makes good skiers looking unconsciousness beginners!
Haha! Sorry, not sorry! 😜
He’s not skiing, just sliding down
Haha! 🤣🤣
“That’s not flying, that’s falling with style!” 🤣
На доске там видимо не судьба ... :)
It’s a great route on a board too!
How steep is this
Fairly steep at the top…. Adverts say 70%
@@Cookiesports 70% steepest part, so 35°.
Oh man! You must be british - your mouth does not stand still for one single second. Enjoy, feel - you do not need to be so intense. You are skilled on ski. Relax!
🤣🤣🤣
I love the commentry
La piste la plus difficile du monde, on la connait tous, elle s’appelle La Streiff. Sur une descente, celui qui n'a pas peur avant le départ est soit un menteur, soit un fou. Souvent c'est celui qui gère le mieux son angoisse qui gagne...
🧜♂️
The French have just called. They want their oxygen back. Apparently, you used it all up! 🙄
🤩🤩
@@Cookiesports You’ve got a sense of humour, I’ll give you that! And you can ski really well 😉
Since he had to use his poles to push forward not ideal for snowboarders since it looks slow spots or flat land
Odd flat bit in the tunnel it’s-self, and after the first main decent, but generally fine on a board. I coach both and have taken many boarders happily down this route.
They made this slopes easier bc the helicopter had to rescue too many people each year
Oh dear… this is how rumours start! 🤦♂️
@@Cookiesports i know a guy from the local PGHM and its no rumor
T'as du t'amuser grave
🥳
I hate this kind of go pro!!! We can not see how difficult "le tunnel" is! It's a pity!
Shame… I filmed it on a “classic view go-pro” but you simply count see enough… after a few tests I settled in this view being better all-round!
czcams.com/video/7C5yyMtYUjY/video.html Ca c'est déjà plus fonctionnel et moins marketing
Ok
I hate fish eye view.
That’s ok…. I mix up the camera settings and views on this channels so have a good look through.
Although it warps the view a bit, I do think the fish eye is the best way to show the full views of things…. And the 360 allows us to spin and select the view at any point! 👌
@@Cookiesports Thank you for the explanation.
I live in South Africa and for us it is something we do not see everyday (skiing down slopes), so I really want to experience the same thrill as what you are experiencing. I want to see the ski path and surroundings as you would see it.
Stop talking! 🙉
🦄
Talking to much… it is so annoying….
