Axe throwing! My axe throwing is based on primarly using work axes or axe tools to throw in real world environments. Join me as I embark on this journey to provide my knowledge of axe throwing! Tips, tricks and fundamentals to get you out there throwing with confidence and accuracy!
I also cover my passion for design work! Anything from complete axe head designs to redesigns that change the weight or the look of the axe head all together but still creating a functional axe! Handle design and finishes, custom builds and tools I use are just a few other things I do on this channel too!
I test and review axes ranging from high end to common axes you find in your local hardware store! All of my reviews are done with an honest opinion regardless of manufacturer. No BS, no bias opinions here. The real truth on axes and throwing axes!

HUGE HELP!!! Thank you, Wes, for the wonderful tips and tricks. I see drastic improvements already. Better accuracy and MANY more solid hits on target. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge! I am looking forward to seeing and learning more. Thanks again, sir!
Thanks for trying it! Like I said it definitely takes some practice and learning that new feel if you’re use to maybe another way of throwing. But with some practice I think it would help people throw like me, if that’s what someone wants to do. May not be for everyone but I at least prove in my videos how I throw and what I do at least works for me. That’s awesome it’s working for you!
yes i did know right away about the wrist and grip i try to notice what my body is doing. but no where near how in depth you showed us wes big huge help like bearsden said this is great coaching wes thank you
Now, if I can actually get it to the target on a triple rotation....it sticks!!
Hey don’t be afraid to rainbow your axe in there. It doesn’t have to be a line drive bullet.
Thank you! As usual, I am stealing all this information and having a ball with it! Hey Dave!!
Good! Take all or some and a bit of it and use it to your advantage!
Chuckles :) I've been throwing Tomahawks since 1978, when I got my first one. Now I have many, and I have just ordered a Francisca Throwing Axe, by Windlass. I am so looking forward to throwing it. Never had the problem with blade alignment to the target. My problem is my vision. So I only throw for one rotation. Cold Steel Tomahawks use the one degree eye. So its easy to align the hawk head to the target.
I have a Francesca on the list to get. Someone suggested the Condor model. I’ll have to check out the Windlass model one too now.
I agree that some may not have issues throwing with a grip that I demonstrated at the beginning. I did say most could possibly throw a single rotation and be fine but going back further would show those issues.
I will say this. It’s a little outside of what you’re saying but I think it applies in one area. Someone can have bad mechanics but be able to deliver the axe let’s say at a single rotation. (Not saying you do, just saying) but when tasked with going outside of that, the bad mechanics will start showing. My method of throwing gets me the same result regardless of where I stand or how many rotations I put in the axe. Now if some are okay with just a single rotation and what they do works then that’s what you want! I’m just saying that in my style of throwing, proper mechanics and my style of grip can be extremely versatile! That’s all. I might have mistook your comment but I wanted to say that haha. But I do appreciate your insight and info with your experience and knowledge!
I’m loving this series! Keep it up 👍
Awesome! Got some good ones coming soon!
So how about the next video you show how you handle that axe like that throwing it around and catching it without looking….I would have missing fingers already 😂. Great stuff! I’ve thrown a few times with you now and know some of this and it worked for me. I can appreciate the info more using it. Great vän
Dave taught me that. You will have to get up with him 😂
I saw that look…..👀
I have no idea what you’re talking about 😂
I tried the grip while watching and I do turn the wrist. The grip feels very different and am having difficulty lining up pointer finger and thumb. I might need to shave some off my handle. Will try outside on my target when thunderstorms clear out. Thanks
Tried on target. I will have to practice and get some muscle memory
That’s why I usually shave down the handle knobs because they can start dragging and causing wrist roll. As far as your pointer finger and thumb lining up, send me a pic via email so I can see what’s going on. Seeing will help me determine the cause and help with a possible solution!
