I learned wheelies with my 125 EXC for the order of learning things I would recommend:
1. Braking. Pop the wheel up and just slam it down until you got it.
2. Switching gears mid wheelie. Only applies when popping up the front with 2nd or 3rd gear. Helps a lot not having the bike on the powerband all the time.
3. Coasting. As the bike is very manageable when it has low rpm’s, its easy to get very good with the brake.
Yep getting it up is the easy part. Keeping it up is my problem. Same for wheelies.

@@Sheepymoto same here. If I hit the brake it's because I fucked up with the throttle. Scrapping wrecks my led taillight so there's no need to. Engine braking is more than enough on these big four strokes.

Best tutorial I've seen on wheelies..been riding for 20+ years and 'power standing' that whole time..never learnt the brake technique..which I was finding really difficult..until I saw this..

I think you made the best wheelie tutorial out there on youtube. Thanks to your video i learnt the balance point in about 2 months of riding. I think you do an amazing work explaining all the crucial elements in an easy to understand way. I would really appreciate if you would like to share your knowledge and experience further by making a video on how to swerve while doing a wheelie. Seems like there are no tutorials on this topic neither on youtube nor other platforms. At least i coludn't find any helpful content. Anyway keep up the good work, you are an amazing rider and content creator.

broke my wrist on a wheelie on my 450 (still pretty new) i was comfortable enough getting the front wheel up but couldn't get to balance point. the one time i did i freaked and lost my footing from the rear brake and ate pavement. 100% going to try your technique once I'm healed !!!! yeah in reality you will be as pathetic as me and cant really get it going, can get it up, quite high but still just collecting speed instead of going in same rpm range, even tho most of people in videos seem to be lower at their wheelie height than i am but they are not gaining any speed unlike me -.-

the tip at the end with the piece of straw was good i can do balance point wheelie's soon as you mentioned the seating position i was like how did i not even notice that :). i have watched a lot of how to's usually to have a laugh theses days compared to when i was learning but you where pretty informative with the coasting and the seating position compared to most .

Just a beginner but tonight I learned it helps if you look far ahead towards the horizon instead of looking like 10 or 20 feet ahead. I started picking things to "focus" on.

I started learning wheelies by popping the clutch or just whacking the gas in 2nd gear and chasing it. Automatically learned to switch gears chasing it and now I'm trying to perfect the brake and balance point. I've used the rear brake to keep it going for a lot longer and can keep it pretty long. I've also do some standing seat wheelies but can't keep them very long because I only have a foot brake and don't wanna loop out. Slow wheelies seem harder than faster ones. So I have to slow it down now too. I've legit never looped though so I did something right.

the tip about keeping the gas grip steady and using the brake to adjust height of wheelie (on a four stroke) is gold. as is the tip of keeping light pressure on the rear brake at all times. NOTE to novices: be prepared to adjust valves and change oil AS SOON as you learn (can coast 20 feet minimum) cuz the bike is gonna take a lot of first gear revving abuse at the offset.. cool vid ! :)
