- This year, no one managed to beat the famous one Impossible Climb Andler/Schönberg.
On Saturday, the climb was soaked from overnight rain, making it even more difficult to reach the summit.
Last year's jump became more difficult to make due to the deformed breakout.
To sum up, the conditions made this climb even more unpredictable than ever and the result is 100% fails.

It's amazing how sturdy these bikes are,I mean just watching them falling downhill, they're basically all intact and I had a flash of seeing a street bike fall... it would've been destroyed lol. Pretty wild hillclimbs
If you really believe most of those bikes that fell were basically all intact, you're smoking some very interesting stuff. Most if not all will experience bent frames and perforated engines. These bike are rugged, but were never designed for this kind of stuff. I'm betting this is the last time many of these bikes are ever ridden.

Maybe a damaged bike won't matter very much in this kind of hill climb. Bent frame, no brakes...who cares. As long as the engine runs and the bike can still go forward, maybe that's all that matters. It's fun to watch someone else destroy their bike, I guess!?!@@funkiwi44

My dad was doing this in 1945 just when the WWII was over. No live footage but my sister has lots of stills. Regular 3/8 load chains wrapped around the Rear wheel. Kidney belts and pilots head covers with goggles were proudly worn.
If this is anything like other hills I've climbed, it's probably a lot steeper in real life than it looks in the camera. Good job.

He found the perfect line. Plus his bike ripped, some of those guys didn’t even have bikes powerful enough to get him halfway up the hill. That was a sick run though !!!

We always had a j hook on a rope to an anchor point. Don't know why more places don't do it. Saved alot of bikes

I have and idea...what if they had a net that for pulled across the track at a certain point, up high, just after the rider passes. That way most bikes might be saves from the brutal down hill tumble. At times maybe even saving a rider from tumbling as well
I'd give the spotters rope and hooks to throw at the bike, would be way easier than trying to hop over the wall and catch it by hand/feet like they do... 🤷♂
I don't think some of these guys have ever been on a bike before today, and yes I have been their and done this and even made it all the way over a couple of times! After going over a couple of times I didn't have anything to prove after that and gave it up to the younger guys!!!

Yea or a net - I was thinking those catcher dudes are working way too hard and risking too much when they could just have nets drop down from above every 15-20 feet
I can’t believe that no one has come up with the idea of using a type of net to catch the bikes. Two guys on one side and two on the other.
You would have to anchor the people holding the net down so the force of the catch doesn't pull them down with it. Also it would have to be a pretty sturdy and heavy net to not tear a hole when the bikes hit. That would require all the same equipment, and there is at least one less failure point with their current method. They also appear to have much more mobility with their setup than if they were anchored to the sides
Not saying it's perfect, but it's working.

Tough hill, but I didn't see many 2 strokes. Had to catch the hop at the top just right.
When I was growing up they had hill climbs in my small town in Massachusetts. It was very similar to this one except there were no rocks on the hill but about as steep.
Bet it would be great in the winter if there's snow...going downhill that is

I saw one person do it. Summary Score: Hold with a foot: 1. Umbilical Monkeys on a line catch a rider or bike: 2. Defeat the Mountain: 1. Lose to the Moutain: 34. Trying to put a foot on it was just silly. I get it. You can get clobbered by a bike. But don't say you're part of the safety squad if you're 0 for 34. It was embarrasing watching the keystone cops falling over themselves not coming close to the bike. And yet, i couldn't look away.

My idea, have 2 guys on either side of the hill at various points, one dude has a rope with a rock tied on the end and once the bike starts falling throw it across to the other guy to make a clothesline and stop the bike!
I bet mfgs. of handlebars, levers, fenders, etc. have really good sales after these events.

I have an old video from the 90's of a woman wiping out on her mountain bike and breaking her neck. She never raced again but at least she can now walk. That was from Vail

I always wonder why there cannot be some kind of "hook" or something that could be used to catch the bike and stop the free fall. I'm thinking of several guys with grappling hooks and ropes anchored; after the end of the ride, the crew tries (at least reies) to toss the hook into a wheel. Maybe one or more (or none) catch, and prevent a complte tumble for the bike. Just a tought, because I hate to see perfectly good motorcycles take such a beating. It could get expensive.
On another note, this is a great video and it's tons of fun to watch. Much respect!
Can't they come up with a better system to catch the bikes, like grappling hooks or something? Looks like fun but many of those bikes will never be the same after the expensive tumbles.

Lots of them seem like stock bikes. No extendeended swing army,no spiked tires and the engines seem like they pulled them out of the garage

Guys, Lower your forks down in your triple trees, you don't need 18" of fork travel and it'll level you bike out more when you're on the hill I could climb anything with my XR500 set up that way. Drop them about 4 inches.
Grapple hooks would be smart, so these guys have something to ride later
