Wait, but doesn't VW EV's also receive the Chinese government subsidies? Tesla as well for that matter. VW can't compete with the Chinese brands not because the latter receive subsidies. Certainly Chinese learned a ton from the German car makers (the German car makers earned tons of €€ in return), but to say that Chinese can't innovate is untrue. Did Germans invent the blade battery? Are there any other technology companies in Europe than ASML? Is democracy inherently more innovative then? This china analyst is second tier or biased at best.

Their paycheck requires them to praise capitalist systems. Anyone with critical thinking skills can see that is false for anything important. I will not be surprised at all when the USA starts to implement more state controlled/regulated business when it is for critical industries.

That's not what's happening, stop attacking nations over policies that China themselves have been implementing on a far greater scale for two decades.
Companies that are in China will not be penalized with tariffs if they manufacture the cars, and batteries in the European Union. This policy is identical to the provisions that China currently, and previously enacts against foreign companies.
China lost its case in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) that it meets the basic principles of even a basic market economy. If China really wanted to fairly compete it would fully abide with market principles.

Ummm.... "Marxism maximizes profit at the expense of the worker", lol? That's precisely what Marxism is NOT about. "Innovation", in Marxism, is "development of the means of production", which is the central driving force of history according to Marxism.
You can make the case that China, and indeed any historical society, has been _bad_ at it (to beat a dead horse, "real socialism has never been tried"), but the issue is not what Marxism is "about".

A very thorough analysis of the current socioeconomic climate in China. As a native living in mainland, I can tell you almost everybody is pretty anxious and worried, cause the economy is indeed looking bleak. The irony is that the we can’t get access to this information and aren’t allowed to badmouth about it(such comments are strictly restricted and even censored). I’m deeply disappointed particularly compared to the outlook of our economy 5 years ago. I’m feeling a bit of hopeless. For those who read this comment, I hope you don’t get the impression that we Chinese are the problem, it’s more like we don’t even know what to do since things are so tightly controlled by the regime. This so called China expert is laughable. A lot of expert mentioned the reason why China is successful at capitalism is due to ability to make rapid adjustment, while the Western capitalism is rigid. The West is very beauracratic and very difficult to make any changes due to opposition (Democracy due to multiple parties). Last time I heard China cant innovative was the Harvard review paper. I thought we are way pass that theory. If China cant innovate, then China wont be in this predicament such as sanction to high technology, EV tariff from the West, banning TikTok, Temu, Shein, etc. China will be selling cheap toys and buying high tech from the West. In regard to 2023 or future economy, no one has a crystal ball. China is definitely moving away from RE and letting it implode rather than getting a bail out. In the long run, you dont want RE to be 1/3 of your national GDP and they are doing that. What will be 2023 GDP or will it have a recession? Future will tell.

According to the official figures from the EU Commission, the US share of global GDP is 15.5 percent.
China's share of global GDP, however, is 18.4 percent.
US growth was 2.4 percent in 2023.
    China's growth was 5.2 percent in 2023.
Growth of 1.4 percent is forecast for the US in 2024 and growth of 1.8 percent in 2025.
Growth of 4.6 percent is forecast for China in 2024 and growth of 4.6 percent in 2025.

Using your analogy. It's important to take interest in the biggest family's in the town. Especially when those big family's own and run a lot of the businesses in town and they are tied to a lot of other town-folks well-being. You serve your own interests best by keeping an eye on them.

      I disagree.
Eventually the world tends to work together, and everyone is entitled to know what's happening in the world, and by doing so we are able to avoid undesirable outcomes.
Besides, you cannot deny that theoretical study is an aspect when we try to figure out truth, of course in practical cases we see complex ties and private interests, but still, intellectual activity helps us to improve.

China will follow Japan's track after 1989.
Japan's real estates bubble blowed up, but its manufacturing sector steadily evolved and became world champion.
Today's China very resembles to 1989 Japan.
Therefore, China's manufacturing sector will eventually become world champion, eclipsing Japan's manufacturing sector.
Japan's stock bubble will soon blown up. Global investors should be very vigilant against Japan's crash of stock bubble, which was mainly caused by capital flight from China to Japan. The capital flight necessarily reverses and grinds Japan's manufacturing sector.

But anyhow even at negative growth rate, German still manage to surpass Japan lmao, this just tells me how desperate the U.S. is at the moment, poor U.S., to be an ally of the U.S. is truly fatal
