Adapted from acclaimed author Richard Matheson's influential novelette of the same name, Constantine director Francis Lawrence's I Am Legend follows the last man on Earth as he struggles to survive while fending off the infected survivors of a devastating vampiric plague. A brilliant scientist who raced to discover a cure for the man-made virus as humanity came crumbling down all around him, Robert Neville (Will Smith) was inexplicably immune to the highly contagious superbug. Now the entire population of New York City -- and perhaps the world -- has been transformed into carnivorous bloodsuckers that fear the light and live solely to spread their contagion to any remaining living creature that crosses their path. This part shows family. He was about to shoot but when he realizes the lion has family. He remembers he lost his family n doesn't want to take away the lions

Such a relatable film. It's almost like you wanted to see his ups and downs no matter how bad it got. Like you grew a true relationship with the actor which is rare in these films nowadays. This is why Will Smith was such a great actor he really really gets into his roles. Almost to where he doesn't even have to do anything but be himself, so excited for his new film!!!!

The zombies were actually intelligent and social beings,,let's just say this was their world now...Will smith was actually the villain of the story, kidnapping and killingTheir families and experimenting in them for his own selfish reasons.
This is my favorite Will Smith movie , everything about it is amazing , Will’s acting is perfect and the zombie’s alway’s terrify me everytime i rewatch it.

Haha, imagine being a kid who never watched horror and went into this movie with his mom being told that it’s a movie about Will Smith at the end of the world living with lions. You can guess how scared 💩-less I was when the vampires showed up and it was all apparently from a cure for cancer in 2009😂

I watched this movie 3 years ago right before I turned 18 and moved to another city for my uni. This movie was the reason I got my German Shepherd baby boy and I'm proud lol
I love how the lions don't roar or attack Neville since they are descendent of lions who have seen the good in humans (zoo animals) and Neville is their first impression of humans which currently isn't too hostile
Not really. Unlike humans, animals only attack for two reasons - for food or to defend themselves. They're not interested in attacking him for food, because they've already got a nice tasty deer. They don't feel the need to defend themselves, as he isn't offering a threat, he's not shooting or acting menacingly, he's just standing there. Ergo, they don't attack.

In reality a lion could not attack you if they consider you "part od the pack", so even if those are zoo lions they would still attack humans. Would you go to a zoo and try to touch the lion just because there are other humans who can?

It’s a great thematic connection to him eventually realizing the infected do have some form of sentience and society.

They have a social structure (there's clearly an alpha male), they show compassion for each other (the alpha male fights to free his female), and they're capable of something akin to compassion (the alpha male spares will smith and the other 2). They're pretty much primitive humans with heightened aggression.

This movie is hitting closer to home to me for two reasons. First, with the whole coronavirus going on. And second, I live in Manhattan. So the streets are not as deserted as this but are definitely more so than usual

I liked this movie even though it was totally different from the book and from previous iterations (Omega Man, I am Legend). It was called "I AM LEGEND" because in the book (circa 1954), the post apocalypse normal were a vampire society and he was the last living human being that hunted the vampires. He became a legend, the boogeyman vampire parents tell their vampire children to scare them.

Admittedly even though I knew it was coming when I saw this in theaters, the lion pouncing the deer still gave me a jump.
Most thrilling memory of mine when I was a kid...
I could've sworn that the ending was different. When it first came out the ending was Will Smith dying when he took the pin off the grenade and kill himself trying to save that women. But a couple of days ago I've watched this movie and now he throws the grenade at the zombies and runs away with the women? Am I wrong or did they change the ending?

There are two endings to the movie When he dies that’s the original theatrical ending in the other one is the alternate ending that came out when it came out on DVD but it is also shown sometimes on TV
That was an alternative ending, which is better then the original in my opinion. Also they’re not really zombies, more like humans who have devolved to be much more primitive. Also the alt. Ending showed that they attacked the apartment because smith took the mate of the Alpha. I liked how it showed that the infected still had some humanity left.

You think he would have carried a shotgun when hunting from the car as a back-up weapon instead of a sniper rifle. If he wanted to snipe deer he could have laid-up on a building rooftop surrounding Central Park and waited.
+camrober I agree with the shotgun idea, but the weapon he was using wasn't a sniper rifle, but an M4 assault rifle, with a medium range scope. Not so a improper weapon, and many use it as a hunting rifle.
