Dennis, thanks! You just confirmed the day of the show, Dec. 25th. I couldn't remember if it was the day before Christmas, Christmas day, or the day after- because Bob Hope did several shows over several days. It is very important for me know. I was a gunner on a chopper and we were sitting right outside the show on standby. Man, I was pissed we couldn't see it. Then we got a call to rescue a 1st Infantry Division patrol that got ambushed. One dead but two still alive. It was a sad Christmas. Decades later I researched 1st division soldiers that were KIA that day. There were two names. Because of the wounds listed on the records I believed I was able to identify whose body we took out- it was Sgt. E5 Larry Reed. But because I wasn't sure of the date, I couldn't be 100% positive. Now I am. Thanks, and welcome home.

Look at the entertainers of today, they do everything they can to show their boobs and stand there with their legs spread apart.

I arrived in Country December 20 in Saigon. I sat in the 1st first row of the plane. I remember them opening the door and Instant Sweat appeared from the heat and humidity. I was there as part of a replacement company and I was sent to Cu Chi. I was there at the show, but way in the back. I used my 8mm to record it, but I don't remember if it was Christmas Day or not. I was a member of the 2/27th Wolfhound. Spent my year there and 12 of us flew back on a C141 in jump seats for 3 days., first landed in Tokyo, then Alaska, then Alabama and finally into Dover. One of the 12 guys on the flight said someone took his Money Orders worth $1,400 and they called the MP's. Took a few hours for them to show up as it was Christmas eve. The MP's started to search all of our bags for the missing Money Orders. Someone said search his stuff first, which they did. They found them after a few minutes. No one was happy with the guy as we had lost 3-4 hours from being released to go home. The MP's keep the guy who had misplaced his money orders. In hind sight, I think some of the guys had souvenirs that they did not want to be found. Yes, Memories...

Got to see them while I was stationed at Takhli RTAFB, Thailand. The date was 20 or 21st of December 1964. There was a grand total of about 128 people(Americans) at the show and on the base. I was permanently at England AFB, Louisiana, but had TDYs to Florida, Japan, Taiwan, Hawaii, California, New Mexico, Phililippines,. And I had only made up to E-3, but in a speciality code for Armament and Electronics Technician.they sang Silent Night, many tears in that audience!
