The Shimmering Veil was my biggest positive surprise this year. I have used it every single day since I got it and it is just so special to me. One awesome thing also in that deck os it’s connection with my runes and seemlesly they share a voice.

So soon!! I can't wait to do my own!!! I just can't decide if I should do the "release" version or the decks that I bought in 2020 regardless of release date. Maybe both, but I believe there will be some overlap. I love that the Witch's Wisdom is so up there in your top 5, especially since it's pretty new and also mass market!!! It's on my wishlist!! The Black Light Tarot is not anything I've heard about but OMG so striking.

The Neo Rider Shadow Deck is my go-to deck when reading for clients. Good new - with regular use and shuffling, they become less slippery.

I can't wait to get the Witches Wisdom deck. I gave my daughter a list of 3 decks that I want for Christmas and she is going to choose one for me as a surprise so I don't know which one I am getting , Witches Wisdom is one of them.. I love the look of it and I kind of wish I had just gone out and bought it myself because I can't wait to get it. If I don't get it for Christmas I will buy it myself right after it looks amazing.

Shadowlands has been off and on my wish list. I just can't decide if I want to get this or Monstarot . I'm not a fan of RWS like you are, but the Shadow Edition of the Neo Rider is gorgeous ... if I was ever going to get a dec with the traditional art work, it would be this one. I have started working with the Witches' Wisdom and am loving it!

My number one spot has to go to 'New Choice Tarot de Marseille'! I know it wasn't released this year but I was so totally happy to have received that deck! That and my blue box 'Blushing Fool' i will cherish, always and forever! 🥰

I enjoyed your selections, Simon. I think my Top 5 for this year would be Star Seeker, Shimmering Veil, The Vindur Deck, Tarocco Bolognese Carte Fine al Mondo, and the Adam C de Hautot Tarot from Sullivan Hismans (seems like cheating as I don't even have my copy yet, but I am so excited for this one!). Honorable mention: Tarot Sirene (very late 2019), and the Francois Gassmann reproduction from Yves Reynaud.

I keep checking to see if Pam’s Delight has gone up for sale, but alas, I am consistently disappointed when I check the website...lol. I think I definitely would have expected Shadowlands and Shimmering Veil to be on this list. The others felt like surprises, but not sure what I would have guessed in their place. I am afraid to tackle this tag.....so many decks in 2020. 😳🥰

I really liked your choices. You are so bad for my budget lol but i think the world of you :-) You have helped get me through this awful year. I really love the shadowland tarot. I was pleasantly surprised by that one. Wasn't sure id like it till i held it in my hands and fell in love with it. The neo is beautiful but i can't keep it in my hands its so slippery. The shimmering veil looks amazing ! I can get one deck and i was going to get the black light but now i am very interested in the shimmering veil. The witches wisdom is beautiful just got it so haven't really worked with it yet. Looking forward to it. I have the Pam's Vintage and Pam's original on the way for my Christmas presents because of one of your videos. Working with the winter Waite which i love. I really appreciate all the work you do for this community ! I find the best decks because of you ! Many Blessings Simon !

I thought Lonely Dreamer came out this year and I love that. I have the Shimmering Veil but actually prefer her Intuitive Tarot (which didn't come out this year) it's my soul deck. Shadowlands is cool. Otherwise I think I've gotten lots of newest editions of existing decks (Oriens which I do love, for example). Hoping Tarot of Mystical Moments shows up before year end cause I think that would be high on my list. Thanks, Simon.

I was edging my Witches Wisdom deck while watching. I actually have all your favorites and totally agree with your choices. I definitely have backups of them, all except the Neo Rider since there were four decks. The black light tarot is awesome when it's glowing. I also agree with the earlier comment that the Bloodstone and Earthflesh should be included. It's one of my all time favorites.

oh my god I just edged my Witches Wisdom deck last night and I'm so curious to know what colour you went for! I was so torn between a beautiful navy OR a golden ochre (to match the flower on the back)... ended up going with the ochre and it is absolutely gorgeous, definitely happy with the outcome (: How about you?

I went with blue for the edges but I bet the golden ochre looks great. I was debating which one go with.

Was there any bleeding? And what pens did you use?

I didn't have the jagged edge bleed like I've experienced on other decks but I can see a little bit of the edge color while looking at the face of the cards. Maybe this can be attributed to the groove that develops on the edge of the chisel tip. I used a phthalo blue from Master's Touch. It matches the leaves on the card backs. I think it looks wonderful but everyone has there own taste.

@@the_hermits_cave I didn't have any bleeding at all! I used the Talens Ecoline brush pen #407 deep ochre which I believe is water based. It dried pretty instantly and I haven't had any colour come off even with extensive shuffling.
The only 'problem' is that if you go over the same place twice with this pen, the colour deepens slightly - so the corners of the deck sometimes look a tad uneven but I don't think it's that noticeable and I don't mind it in the least! Wish there was a way to share photos so it was easier to show what I mean haha

I love your pick Simon (Except for the RWS , lol) I haven't even looked through my Shadowlands yet, and I got it when it came out! Only thing that jarrs, is the backs don't go with the fronts. An additional vote for the Witches and the Shimmering Veil.
Both are wonderful in very different ways. While the shimmering veil as a whole isn't for me (even though Death, Judgement and some other cards are just perfect), the Witches' Wisdom is growing on my. The reversal of the major arcana's order makes perfectly sense. The animals included is fine. What I don't like is the lack of gender diversity (just the most prevalent two with male figures also quite stereotypical).
The fault in the otherwise astonishing Witches' Wisdom makes me valuing the Shadowland Tarot more ... so this one also grows on me.
My favourites of this year struggle with delays and becoming available.
Not sure if I should count them for 2020 :
Ian Miller's Grim Tarock, Animal Woman Tarot, Divine Masculine Tarot.

Really, so many amazing decks in 2020! I agree on the Shimmering Veil, Shadowlands and Witches Wisdom -- really enjoying them, don't have the others. The deck I've been really surprised by is True Heart Intuitive Tarot by Rachel True! Never mind the guidebook, which is quite good. The images are amazing, and I've even done research on them (Like, what was one of images in The Lovers card modelled after?). You see the pretty picture and then something catches your eye and zoom! you're off!

I only started purchasing tarot decks a few months ago and out of the decks that I've got so far, only one is a 2020 deck. It's the Hieronymus Bosch Tarot by Travis McHenry (a Kickstarter that I backed, so the deck was only delivered a couple of weeks ago) and I got this because I love Bosch's artwork. Will be a long time before I actually use the deck for readings, but in the meantime I do love keep looking through all the cards.
