Singing My Song - Partridge Family

- Taken from the first and perhaps greatest TV show to combine music with a situation comedy about family life, here is one in a series of many "re-edited" Partridge Family music videos - in STEREO and often with bonus footage from that episode.
This version is interesting because:
1). The mix of the stereo commercial release did not include the background vocals in the verses. A few of these mono "full vocal" phrases were sprinkled in to pull off the effect of matching the visuals.
2). Footage for this video was taken from two different episodes, where "Singing My Song" was featured in three scenes overall. - Zábava
He has this unique voice and he was blessed with a good look so beautiful and charming. RIP David Cassidy.
50 years on, I can't tell you how much joy it brings me seeing this. First album is ever owned. Absolutely glorious 😍😍
Great song for so many reasons. I am 57 and it seems like yesterday,
I'm 57 now which means you're about 62. I still love listening to The Wrecking Crew and The Partridge Family!
..to this day, I think this is one of the best bass performances ever....Joe Osborn totally kills it in this tune....God bless The Wrecking Crew!!
CREDIT! He's the other reason I got into it...with a pick!
Yes, The Wrecking crew (IMO) are one of the best bands EVER! And should've been inducted into the Rock and Roll HOF!
Could that be Carol Kaye on Bass? She kicked it , in The Wrecking Crew, too!!! She did Mission Impossible licks, and Hawaii 5-0, with The Wrecking Crew! And yes! They are the greatest band, ever!! I LOVE their DVD SET that's out there!!!
Ya mean that’s not Danny Bonaduce crushing it on bass? Next thing ya know you’ll tell me there’s no such thing as Santa Claus.
@@tomclegg8915 Danny at least is somewhat 'believable' in the role of bassist (in a dark room at night, if you squint) but Brian Forster on drums? Let's just say there's a reason why the camera lingers less on him than any of the other 'musicians'...
Okay, this is what makes me so grateful, proud and feeling special to be a person of color in America. Right next to my Motown, Philly Soul, Fusion Jazz, Classical and Country ... I had my Partridge Family. I always knew it was OKAY to love music that is sweet, wholesome, from the heart. I'm really grateful that PF4ever has posted all this music -- takes me back to one of the few truly joyful parts of my childhood. And I'm blown away and happy to see that as a PF fan, I ain't alone!
Agreed - I really like hearing the harmonies on those early verses.
Next to the Beatles, the Partridge Family are, for me, serious contenders for best pop act ever. Move over Stevie, Fleetwood, Jethro, MJ, David, Freddie, and all the rest. I kid you not. No other band, next to the fab four, had as many high-quality songs. Maybe Elton and the Stones.
Cassidy rivaled led zeppelin, then, for three reasons : his passion, his voice, AND GREAT GREAT SONNNNNNGS !!!!!!!!!!
I think no
@@lindaclark9925 funny, David wanted to be part of a hard rock group before the Partridge Family offer. He felt his career was totally wasted which was too bad.
This song has the best bass guitar lines I have ever heard...and I have heard a LOT....Unreal
Yes
yeah...1970...mind you I think I got the album in '74!! LOL
I think this is the song that made me fall in love w/DC. He ROCKS on this!! Thx for posting.
Look at David at 1:30. Gorgeous.
Yes
Another great Wrecking Crew masterpiece
I just got this DVD set and this song sounds even better on my television, it's from 2 episodes. The second episode (and the better version imo) was from Disc 2, Episode: "Star Quality". The sound is phenomenal, I recommend the DVDs the price is very reasonable on amazon.
This song just plain rocks...try to listen just to the music in the chorus...a screaming guitar, some strings, brass, its all there and it sounds great today as it did in '74! PF ROCKS!
Awesome stuff. Remember growing up and along came the partridge family. Great memories. We had just got a color tv and mom would let us watch them on Friday nights. Even mom would stop what she was doing to listen to the music. Not a fruit loop or anything. All of my circle of friends grew their hair like David Cassidy. Lol. Shirley Jones was beautiful and Cassidy was the stud back then. Loved it. RIP David and Susanne.
I remember I heard this song when I was 8 years old and now I'm 55 and it still sounds awesome but it cracks me up with that one prisoner in the background and the way he's dancing kills me every time I see it
Nice 'comic tag' from Shirley! You know, I thought I would have known that - being the life long fan I am, but now you have finally explained to me why the Album version & the Series version sounded so different! I used to have this song SCREAMING from my old record player. They don't have string sections like that anymore on pop songs. Great posting! Thanks... p.s. Nice hat Susan - ahhh...
Still and will always be my first crush 😍❤ RIP sweet man
This song freakin' rocks!!!
Great song of course, but a real nice touch with end there. That was cute! GOOD JOB with the edit....
Love this song. ☺😊😁🎤🎤🎤🎤🎸🎶🎶🎷🎶🎶🎵
Love the smooth transition from one episode to the same song in a different episode, very well done! Great song, too! I still groove to the Partridge Family.
Groovy song!!
I love it.
tasty bass by danny on this one.
You're an editing genius. Keep 'em comin' I'm a fan of yours....and the PF of course!
The lead electric has such sick tone!
The part “I said dum de de dum”was always stuck in my head! Finally found the culprit.
How is this considered pop? This is #ROCK! Listen to that guitar!! #davidcassidy
My favorite song by them. My mom and I use to watch em on a channel that played old show reruns. She died in 2012. Sunday is her death day anniversary. 15 year old me in 2012 had a crush on David back then. Man what talent they all had! Still do! Rest in peace ma.
One of the bset songs David ever did.
Listen closely at the applause track, and you'll hear one person doing a "wolf whistle". This applause track was used in variious Partridge episodes.
Danny sure had a great time you can tell.
Nanett Pool I heard Danny wasn't easy to work with, but everybody liked him, Im glad his wife got him off drugs. I like the stories that come from these sitcoms, a lot of people thought Donny Osmond was Peter on Brady Bunch
As a bass player (because of him) there's that moment when you become as one with the instrument, and your whole world rocks.
Great episode too!
The Quality music of The Wrecking Crew with David Cassidy at vocals should've had both inducted into the R&R HOF!
Good mix... very well done showing all three performances of this great song.
Yes and written by 2 great songwriters. See lots of well deserved praise for bass. Listen carefully to the guitars. Just great......takes me back to Sunset and LaCiegna watching the sun go down.
Whoa...in THE club scene check out 1:10...shirleys cap is gone and the whole group's outfits changed from brown to green!!! Then at 1:46 their outfits changed back to brown..whoa!!!
My favorite Partridge Family song!
Such a great pop song.
STILL MY FAVORITE TV SHOW. RHE PARTRIDGE FAMILY. AWESOME SONG.
MORE COWBELL, TRACY! Blue Öyster Cult got nuthin' on you!
Danny's got serious RockStar moves here: Confident with the bass (Bill Wyman had a Mustang in the Stones '69 tour), and the way he steps up for the harmonies in the middle eight.
I was kind of sad when they replaced Jeremy(Chris) with Brian yet i can understand also. Jeremy wasn't beating those drums convincingly enough. But i learned to like Brian as well. PF was great show. RIP Suzanne.
I cried at 10 years old
The song is so much fun
Look at the episode "Star Quality",and you'll see that there's no Partridge Family logo on Chris' drumhead. This happened in the pilot episode and in "See Here Private Partridge".
This song rocks...some best of the early music.
Would love to also see this one sung in full at the prison episode.
Best regards.....
0:38 Shirley's moves.
Love this song! Thanks.
great song
David was great.
I enjoyed this! Great job! Thanks!
Great song!!!
classic from the P.F. Dontcha jus love the lyrics and the music?!?!
Awesome❤
You really had to imagine hard to think that all those voices were coming from six people when only
four of them appear to really be singing. And you can sure hear instruments in their songs that you
don't see on the stage. The thing that made it >almost< realistic was that the Cowsills actually did it.
But they were older and very talented.
Super bassline in this song! Great job 🎶😁
Even if u have a headache these songs make u feel good.
Fun memories and watching the public going crazy for The Partridge Family lol
From "Star Quality" & "Go Directly To Jail". FOOT NOTE: Dianne Hilderbrand also teamed up with Wes Farrell to write the Season 1 theme song "When We're Singin'".
Love It 😊🎵🎤🎼
STILL MY FAVORITE TV SHOW.
We've got to "sing it out to the people" no matter what happens in our everyday adventures. Stay safe everyone!
'Buddy-dumb..buddy-dumb...buddy-duddedy-dumb'
Well, my comment was more of a joke than anything else, the humor being in the contrast between the innocence of the Partridges and the hardened bad-assed evil of Oz.
I wonder how this would have been received in OZ.
Doyee
Good point, but in real life, Keith would have been traded around the prison for cigarettes.
I GOT your joke & I thought it was funny!!!
What the Monkees mean to me as gold the Partridge Family means to me in silver.
and the singing :-)
David Cassidy had one of the best pop voices of all time and I want to be the meat in a Shirley/Susan sandwich.
@dancingbutrfli This is sudden, I messsaged partridgefamilyforever too..... good youtuber.
1:50 lol
Just want to know who had the very low male back ground voice...Oh,yeah, it was Chris!
YA, SO?!
The monkees
Yeah I can hear the influence. Probably inspired Dylan to do Hurricane as well...
H., Bink Bink
why is the film moving so fast?
Hey 4ever - this song is doing it too - song is ok, but video is speeding along like a freight train. Song only lasts l:16. This happened on "only a moment ago" and I left a message on that. Maybe you could look into this please?????
The Monkees had better songs and they even wrote quite of few them
They both used The Wrecking Crew as their band!
I love the music, but your video is blurry and out of focus, and for that reason alone, I dislike it. Sorry...
