Hey Dave, great video... I want to dedicate my pc to run navionics. it's a navigation software available only through the app store. I will need to convert my pc to android and purchase a gps dongle... my question to you is does this conversion allow you to use bluetooth?

Remix OS is also a good choice because it makes android fit more on desktops, though it has more system requirements, www.jide.com/remixos-for-pc... But i would highly recommend Lubuntu, As it will allow you to run full PC programs and only requires 256 MB of ram (You can also probably dual boot Remix AND Lubuntu if you have enough space), and while you may not have heard of it before, it has a few thousand programs advailble, and it even has a little app store to download alot of them.... Though it cant quite replace windows yet, as linux doesn't have as many supported games as windows. Heres links: www.linux.com/what-is-linux ... lubuntu.net/

So, I got the laptop working again..., just needed to re-seat the processor. I tried Remix OS, but it lags and in most cases, hangs the hell out of the laptop.
Currently, I am running Linux Mint 18.1 on it. It works kinda alright for the while,, but I must let it sit for a few minutes before I use it.
I have installed Ubuntu, Ubuntu Mate and many other variations of Linux Distros on this laptop, and quite honestly, I think this computer needs to be put to sleep... lol!

What a shame,i made a 9GB partition for android,and forgot to set FS type to Linux,so only 2GB were allowed to allocate.
I dont want to reinstall,so im gonna ask you if there is a way to either make the remaining space act as an SD card or add the remaining space to the data.img file.
Awesome video ! I did tested android on my old laptop Asus F3E and it works really great. CZcams videos, streaming videos from browser via uc browser and minecraft worked really well.

How to install drivers for rotation? When I rotate it portrait, it shifts counterclockwise into upside down portrait, and when I turn it that way, it turns to upside down landscape, and so on.
You can also download a launcher from the play store to make it work like a newer form of windows

paul Z If you haven't bough a laptop yet, here's a tip: Don't buy a Pentium 4 laptop! The P4 is a very hot CPU, and they are known for frying themselves in laptops.

"Old computer" - you need to specify how old is old - I've got quite a few computers that don't meet the minimum specs for Android x86. Some of them don't even have an x86 processor!
The minimum really for a modern OS is 256 MBs of ram, and nothing much less powerful than a pentium with about 2 GB - 4 GB of disk space, At least if you want to run any worthwhile apps, and not just home brewed stuff. So i suppose that sort of sets a boundary for "Old"

Yeah I also have an old pc i threw somewhere in my garage. It's an old intel i7 6700k, 2x gtx 980ti's, 32GB DDR 4 ram, and an old dusty corsair pc case with tempered glass side panels.
Wonder if it will be strong enough to run Linux Puppy or Peppermint.

I've instaled it on a Pentium 4 on a Slave Drive, and when I choose the option to boot from the slave drive it shows 'GRUB loading...' and the computer halts.

Do you want to run windows programs still? Check out ReactOS reactos.org/ (Though, its in early development, and may not work 100%)... If you want to run Web Browsing, and Simple Multitasking, Check out Lubuntu, which allows 256 MB of ram. lubuntu.net/ ... Both of these should run on old hardware, i recommend Lubuntu more, as its more optimized and probably more useful, and if it doesn't run on your hardware, then that probably means its way past time for an upgrade, or a replacement.

I cant't get it to boot from CD on my Asus P4T-E Board, neither on my P3B-F Board . In both cases it's get's stuck in the textmode screen, does not boot into the graphics mode.Instead when I typed 'exit' multiple times it will start to reboot. I can get it to run on my laptop and ibm dual core.Seems to have problems with the older hardware.Any appreciated.
Did you unmount USB flash disk? Because I have a problem to start android directly from the PC. I have to have inserted my USB flashdisk.

I tried this installation method on my Windows Vista laptop, but I couldn't access the "cfdisk" partition table. Instead, I was sent to a "cgdisk" partition table. I guess I'm stuck with Windows Vista...
HELP! I installed this and it is all running fine, however there is a diagonal line across the screen and the screen is very glitchy (jumps around and flickers like mad) how can I fix this?

Windows xp is much better than android and even windows vista. So I think it is pointless replacing this gorgeous system with this shit.

installing an android os will depend mostly on your pc i tryed all version to revive my old nec laptop ... intel celeron 1.5ghz 758 ram 2001-2003 HDD 40gb , now i had it working with the 4.0 android x86 version ... problem is no wifi no sound even i try to conect it to my pc nothing hapened not detected with the phone or the OGB cable for a 32gb Usb same i had only the photo shawing , and no possibility to share conection via Usb i buyed an external sound card didnt work .... soo rly depend on your pc with some luck .

This works on newer computers that have 32-bit or 64-bit CPUs but if the CPU is too old, it will tell you that you need an x86 or x64 based CPU.
