Stockholm Food Tour | Best and Worst of Swedish Food

- Sweden isn't exactly famous for its cuisine. Has anyone ever heard of anything other than meatballs from IKEA? Well, today it's time to see what Stockholm has to offer, in this food tour!
Joined by the Dutch Travelling Couple, I'm showing and trying lost of various foods:
- A simple but disgusting breakfast with Kalles kaviar on knäckebröd
- Elk sausage, reindeer meat, reindeer heart, and bear sausage at Fågel & Vilt in Östermalmshallen
- Swedish fika in Gamla stan, with a rhubarb pie, princess cake and a cinnamon bun
- Lunch at Stockholm fisk - time for the traditional Swedish meatballs. At a fish restaurant
- Beers at Stigbergets fot and Akkurat. Yes, beer is food
- And finally, dinner at the viking restaurant Aifur

@@SimpleWildLiving It's quite hidden away isn't it? A sure case of more than meets the eyes, as soon as you enter. I can't vouch for the food quality (since I'm just a layman) but the experience is great!

Oh man!!! Now I want to visit Stockholm again soon! I was only there for one full day since I was on a cruise. I had plans to go to the Viking themed restaurant too but we were on our way to Tallinn, Estonia by the time it opened. By the way I love Kalles! Lol Did your Dutch friends mention about their raw soused herring known as “maatjesharing” in the Netherlands? The game meat looked delicious too!!! I love deer meat!
I think he mentioned the haring, but they were too busy laughing at me for hating Kalles :P And too bad that you missed the Viking restaurant! That one is actually really really nice. And we have a pirate themed restaurant too.. And a medieval restaurant with mead and stuff... But next time for sure then eh :D

Haha, a special day change for a special collab. It was a really fun day but the viking restaurant was my top thing for sure. I'm definitely going back soon. And yeah, you bloody Dutch giants are all over the place! :D

Honestly... I would go to that Viking theme restaurant but simultaneously I wouldn't want to be THAT tourist haha. It also just freaked me out with how loud that woman was when she was leading that group to a toast..
I've actually been there twice already myself, even if I live here! It's a really cool place, and interesting for both tourists and natives alike :D
This video was a lot of fun to do and will be repeated some day. Maybe in the Netherlands. I hear from Are we there yet that they have great food....😀😜

To be honest, I'm not fond of marzipan at all so I wouldn't know which princess cakes are best! I never buy them myself if I can avoid it :D

I thought most Swedes liked Kalles. I’m English and love it!
That Viking restaurant looks good, going to have to try that. We went to a Viking restaurant many years ago in Tivoli Gardens in Denmark. They served a massive skewer (like a sword) with beef, pork, lamb, goose, duck and chicken on if I remember correctly. It was amazing, we went back again a couple of nights later.
Haha, I guess I'm not quite a typical Swede... It really was awful! But yeah, I love Aifur - and I'm already making plans to go there again. But the one in Copenhagen sounds great too... I couldn't find which one it is from a quick googling but I'll try some more!

We usually like our kaviar, but not Kalles. It's to fat and sweet, for small kids. Just look at the packaging! :)
I like kallies with bread, cut up hard boiled eggs on the bread with Kallies.

I have to say i love Kalle's cod roe spread, although i'm not sure it's worth it as i lost all of my friends in the process:(

The Dutch couple liked the first snack... because their food is worse in the Netherlands 🤭 And tjeezes, that cinnamonroll can feed all my kids!
Noo, some Dutch food is wonderful. Bitterballen, mmm.. But yeah, that was the biggest pastry I've ever seen! I was pretty shocked when I saw the size of it. "No.. No, this is not typically Swedish.."

I had a housemate that would go to Viking events, they would camp and eat just the way Viking would. If you said anything that was just a myth about Viking he would correct you, he was 6ft 7in so you don't want to argue with him. lol actually he was too nice to fight anyone.
Sounds like an awesome guy to hang around with! Well, maybe not if you believe incorrect things about vikings. Isn't it often like that - the really big and burly guys are real teddybears at heart?
Which is worst - Swedish or Dutch lol? 😅 Fries and mayo every day... These 2 countries are really lucky to have immigrants to cook for them 😂

Don't know much about food or animals do you? Were is no Elks in Sweden unless in a zoo. Elk in Swedish is Vapiti, I guess what you try
to sample is Moose sausage. Always a good thing to do some resarch before you try to portray your self as some kind of expert.
Are you slightly deranged or something? If you have watched this video you should realize that I'm the furthest things from a food expert there is - I have the palate of a child. However, there's a simple reason for that mistake: false friends; when words in one language sound similar to others but in reality are very dissimilar. I.e älg / elk. So I do apologize for that!
