Evening all! I trust you’re all doing well…
I couldn’t make the trip to Sweden without seeking out a meatball challenge, so that’s what’s on the cards tonight.
I’m presently trekking through the lush green forest of North Carolina, so if I’m less active than usual in the comments, I apologise.
Thanks as always for watching and I hope I’ll see you next week.

Swede here! I can confirm it's a very traditional thing here to combine savory meats and sides with sweet jams or even jelly. Based on the weather I'm guessing you've been done with Sweden for like 6 months now, but if you ever want to re-live that classic Swedish flavor combo, meatballs with black currant jelly and boiled potatoes (and optional gravy) is another certified classic.

Yes, the cream sauce !! A cross with beef gravy and cream. I didn't like it. Go to a bit IKEA. They serve that shit in sauce. Most people where I lived in Lovissa were Swedish. Finland's food is even worse !! After just meat and cheese a a few local dishes staying at Degarby, I went to Lidl. The salami was so cheap even with reindeer. Nice one Adam !! Mash and meatballs with gravy and lingonberry is just great. So much better than you'd think. I wouldn't mix the berries into the mash though. It's more like a palette cleanser when you've eaten a bunch of the other stuff. Take a spoon of the jam, get back into the mash and balls.

Good job! As a Swede I'm obviously used to the sweetness lingonberry sauce bring to a meatball dish, but sometimes you can have the less sweet "rårörda lingon", where the berries haven't been cooked. It's a matter of taste, of course, but regular lingonberry sauce can definitely taste very sweet - especially when commercially made. I haven't really thought about it until now, but the most commonly used swedish name for it is "lingonsylt", where "sylt" translates to jam.
