You were right to place Lucy's thrashing by Minerva on this list. Fairy Tail has so many brutal beatdowns, but that one stands out from the rest for its brutality and the perpetrator's sadistic intent.

@@mboyd6 it was, it really, really was! I remember watching that as a teen when it was new to the United States. It was legitimately something that has always stayed with me.
I like OG Broly, but Frieza getting his ass beat for over an hour straight by Broly in Super was way more deserving to be on this list

Unfortunately, Frieza was able to get back up from that one-hour-long thrashing.
Seeing Goku and his entire gang get beat up is worse. Not only does it come down to Goku, they ALL have battle damage that lasts throughout the entire movie even after one round of sensu beans. Frieza just walks it off. Cause nothing lasts in Super.
I think that the most savage beatdown in all of dragon ball history definitely belongs to Spopovich vs Videl. No other fight in DB even comes close.

How did Vegeta vs Final Form Frieza in the Namek saga not make it on the list? Frieza left that man broken and crying. Traumatized the shit out of me as a kid
Broly had Vegeta on his knees and even scared the Super Saiyan out of him with his presence alone.
The Frieza one wasn't as brutal due to Vegeta being overly cocky at the start of the fight then slowly realizing he's outclassed only to bounce back and mock Frieza after being revived. Frieza is more in line with being cruel than brutal.
Where as most DBZ Villains resorted to using condescending and snide remarks, Broly was just trash talking to everyone after he let them get in a few hits before retaliating. Its just simply how Broly carried himself
4:17 Broly's beating in that movie was positively Legendary.

Demon Yusuke vs Sensui is not only a way more brutal beating than the Yu Yu Hakusho fight chosen here, but also the greatest beatdown I have ever seen in anime history.
100% toguro vs Yusuke could also work. Most of the fight is Yusuke getting absolutely BODIED by toguro.

Cool thing about Jortaro beating down Dan of Steel was the fact that he told him he was doing it long before he did it in the form of a receipt.
The iconic 3-page ORA. Yes in the manga Jotaro's beating of Dan was so fierce that it was a ORA-ORA-ORA Barrage that lasted 3 whole pages.

Pretty sure the legendary "7 page muda" from Jojo golden wind easily beats the 2nd place Jojo beat down
And by “tortured by goku” he means that broly didn’t get to sleep that well since goku was crying right next to him.
The thing I love about the Sikorsky fight is that in less than a few minutes, Gaia conditioned Sikorsky to fear being attacked whenever he heard a countdown.
This is a process that can take up to a couple of days to even a week. And Gaia did it in less than a few minutes.
God don’t remind me of poor Lucy. She got shafted SO hard during the Grand Magic Games.
That beating and her getting shafted in her match against Flare make me wince whenever I think about it.
Frieza torturing Vegeta when he reaches his final form on Namek was so brutal. I was so uncomfortable the first time I saw it.
I agree. It also made vegeta more sympathetic after his backstory was revealed

I almost forgot about that one. Super Slug kicking Goku's ass all over the city, and Spopovich beating the shit out of Videl, were pretty brutal, too. But yeah, Vegeta being brutalized while the rest of the Z gang stood there, helpless, was pretty tough to watch, even for such a brutal character, himself.
Masataka beating the breaks off that boy💀💀. Like he was hammering on him. Leaving him in a bloody mess. And Broly beating the living h outta Goku and the Z fighters

Gon vs Pitou in one of the best fights ever. Gon repeatedly destroying Pitou over and over and over even though his first punch practically took her face off. Absolutely brutal

Erza struggled to rise up before her adversary, Minerva. Beaten down by her, she continued to attempt to take a stand before her maniacal nemesis. Minerva smugly looked down at her, like a god before an ant, saying, “You can’t stand up with that leg.”
“I will. As long as I’m fighting a battle that I mustn’t lose… I’m ready to stand up as many times as I need to. And I told you, you provoked the worst possible guild to piss off.”
“Anger’s gonna ruin your looks.”
“You’ll pay for what you did to Lucy! To my comrades! To Kagura! To Millianna! Angry!? I’m seething!”
“Oh, I’m so scared,” replied Minerva sarcastically and flicked her wrist forward. Two more explosions appeared before Erza. Erza grunted in pain as each explosion detonated. “Thanks to my spacial magic, I can manipulate whatever spot I can see.”
Erza kept struggling to dodge explosion after explosion as Minerva kept casting them.
In the crowd, Arina Webb was astonished by what she just saw. “Not only can she change the space around her...”
Leslie Law replied, “...she can even modify its property!”
Minerva smugly replied, “Territory. The strongest magic for the strongest guild.”
But all of a sudden, out of nowhere, someone instantly appeared before her, ready to attack!
“I saw through it!” Erza jumped through Minerva’s attack and stabbed her in the gut, stifling any movement from her. Erza then took her swords out of Minerva's stomach and kicked her to the ground. Minerva put magic energy around her hands and lunged at Erza, but she instantly dodged Minerva’s attack, dashed behind Minerva, grabbed her by the arm, and swung her sword in an arc that cut right through her arm, chopping it off. Minerva had no idea what just happened at first. But then she looked to her right. She realized…
“My arm… WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY ARM!?!?!?”
Erza requipped into her Heart Kruez armor and her swords vanished, with a scythe taking their place. “And there’s plenty more where that came from. Now… SCREAM!!!” She brutally stabbed Minerva with the scythe, causing her to scream in intense agony. She collapsed onto the ground, whimpering in fear and panic. Erza casually and smugly walked behind her, crouched down, grabbed one of Minerva’s ankles, and pulled it up. “You know, you might be onto something. It is impossible for me to stand with the condition my leg is in. Thankfully, I know exactly how to level the playing field.”
“No! Don’t!” But it was too late. Erza swung the blade of her scythe through Minerva’s leg, slicing it off.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!” Minerva’s blood curdling scream was so loud, practically everyone in the grand magic games could hear it, even those that were nowhere near the match between Erza and Minerva. Erza then grabbed Minerva by the hair from behind, pulled her face upwards, and said, “Manipulate any space you see, eh? Well then...” before holding the blade of her scythe toward her eyes and saying, “Let’s see how such a power could benefit the blind.” Minerva panicked at what was going to happen next. She hoped to try to manipulate the properties of the blade, but it was too late. Erza ran the blade of her scythe across her face, slicing out her eyes. Minerva screamed in agony yet again, even more ominously loudly than before, “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!”
“Oops! Looks like it’s not my looks that my anger has ruined.” Erza threw Minerva back to the ground in such a way that her face would face the dirt, then pressed her boot down on the back of Minerva’s head. “Not so strong anymore, are you? What are you? A bug? A frog? Either way, I love the way you SQUIRM BENEATH MY BOOT HEEL!!! And by the way…” Erza deliberately paused for a few seconds. Minerva felt a sudden cold feeling inside her. She dreaded what she was going to hear next. Then Erza finally said, “I enjoy your screams.”
Minerva felt a seething temper boil inside of her. “Erza, you vile, evil…”
But Erza requipped a knife and plunged it into Minerva’s shoulder, causing her to scream in pain again. “I find it funny how after all the wretched, rancid, heartless things you did, you have the gall to call me vile and evil? This coming from the bitch who said to my face that she enjoyed Millianna’s screams? You’re such a hypocrite”
“You’re the hypocrite! You just told me that you enjoyed my screams!”
“I did. Because of what you’ve done. You’ve done so many terrible things to my friends and loved ones. You’ve relished in the suffering of others for far too long. Now, others are going to relish in your suffering. You’ll know what it’s like to suffer as they suffered.” She turned Minerva over so that she was lying on her back and sat on top of her belly, facing the side of the arm she didn’t chop off.. “Remember when I said that I’m ready to stand up as many times as I need to? Well now, I’m in the perfect position for sitting down.” She grabbed Minerva’s other arm, and violently ripped off her glove.
Minerva struggled to move her arm around to break free, but Erza stabbed her in the forearm, just to get her to stop. Minerva screamed in agony yet again, and Erza moved her hand closer and closer to her mouth. Minerva screamed, “Stop it! Stop it! Please! I beg you!”
“You hurt too many people I care for. Here’s your reward.” Erza bit down on Minerva’s pinky, violently moved her hand around, and tore her pinky off with her teeth, and swallowed it.
Minerva screamed in pain and agony as her pinky got torn off. She cried, “I’m sorry, Erza! I was wrong for what I did! I’m sorry!”
“There’s no sincerity in your apology. You’re only apologizing because you want to be spared any further pain.”
“No! I mean it! I…” But Erza didn’t listen. She violently bit Minerva’s thumb and ripped it off of her hand with her teeth before swallowing it. “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!”
“All you care about is power. Greedy, selfish, sadistic, maniacal, you brought all of this on yourself. You don’t like the pain that you’re in? You should have thought of that before beating Lucy nearly to death and torturing Millianna the way you did. But as you are, you’re pretty weak. How does it feel to suffer in ultimate agony, insect?”
“Don’t do this to me. DON’T DO THIS TO ME!!!”
“Too late.” Erza bit Minerva’s middle finger and shook her hand around before ripping it off and yet another scream of agony left Minerva’s voice.
Millianna started getting up from the ground and then jumped for joy. “Yay! Go get her, Erzy-werzy! Make her suffer so much more! Make her scream even louder!”
Erza smiled at Millianna, saying, “Don’t mind if I do, Millianna.” and then violently bit Minerva’s index finger and ripped it off with her teeth before swallowing it, leaving Minerva to scream in pain yet again, then she violently bit and ripped off her ring finger. She then turned Minerva so that she was lying on her belly, drew her knife and furiously started clawing at Minerva’s back with it, laughing maniacally as Minerva kept screaming in pain and terror. The screams got louder and more disturbing, to the point where she could end up waking the dead. Erza’s laugh got more and more maniacal and demented as she kept clawing away at Minerva’s back, to the point where there was barely any skin on it anymore. Afterwards, she turned Minerva back to where she was lying on her back again and said, “You know, Minerva, I had no idea that making you suffer for what you did would be so much fun. And so delicious. She started sticking her tongue into Minerva’s now hollow eye sockets.
“No! Stop! Please! I now understand! I know that what I did to you was wrong, but please stop doing this to me!”
“Your lesson… and my enjoyment… is far from over!” Erza then summoned a katana and then shoved it through the opening of Minerva’s loins, then shook it around, violently. Minerva screamed in pain and agony at the sensation while Erza used her other hand to lift up Minerva’s severed thigh, and took a huge bite out of it, causing Minerva to scream even more.
The pain and agony Minerva suffered was too much for her to bear. She yelled, “HELP ME!! SOMEONE SAVE ME!!!” as she prayed for a savior to come.

@INM I just thought a anime focused on Masataka’s story would have been much more interesting than what we got. Wanted to see more of him his inner “demon” as well as him getting his revenge against his brother. Instead we got the Souichirou show and the anime almost immediately went down the drain. It started of so great but nothing ever came close to this scene.

As others have stated Videl's beatings was one of the most horrific beatings I have ever seen. What made it so brutal was just how long it lasted. You were forced to watch that poor girl scream in absolute agony for like an entire 20 minute episode.

Tenjho Tenge was such a great show! I discovered it years after it was released. I was so upset when it was axed before it even got to the main story cause of all the build up with the story's background and character buildup. Only one 24 episode season that showed so much and yet also didn't show you enough. So much was mentioned that we would never get to see in a second season. Not to mention such an abrupt cliffhanger that leaves you unsatisfied but makes you want to see more and to see what happens. Such an underrated show with killer fight scenes, lovable characters, and great funny moments! It was a little slow at parts but when it wasn't, it really picked up and had you enthralled in the scene! I would love for it to be picked back up one day! Would highly recommend this show to anyone looking for something new to watch that's different from other anime especially during it's time I feel like. It's an anime that needs to come back!

Speaking of the number 1 entry Metsuda's daughter who we learn in the upcoming 3rd season "Spoiler Alert" was desensitized to the brutal Kengan fights due to being forced to watch them by her father, even she was disgusted, and disturbed by what Akoya does to Cosmo after Akoya goes all psychopath that she states from her spot in the commentator's booth "This isn't even a fight anymore this is just pure disturbing, disgusting, inhumane torture plain and simple."

Honestly the first one that came to my mind. There were several brutal ones in DBZ. When Frieza was choking Vegeta with his tail and beating on him, or when fat Majin Buu got Vegeta wrapped up and beat the tar out of him. Kid Buu did a pretty good number on Vegeta as well when he was delaying for the spirit bomb.
