And all of this is supposedly due to a single busted hose on the set of the Akira Kurosawa film "Sanjuro". There was too much pressure in the hose and the blood spray from the katana slice went everywhere, but Kurosawa liked how it looked, so they kept it in the final film, and then other live-action Japanese directors copied it, and from there to the anime directors...

Blood+ needs seriously more love and attention. I remember when the anime came out in 2008. Awesome storyline and amazing characters. This anime was ahead of it's time.
The characters are everything in that anime with a really complex and mature storyline. Unfortunatly most otakus just want the violence
@@daniele4951 you need a good storyline to have a series make an impression. Blood+ had that. Blood C had that, though not to the same degree as its predecessor. Elfen Lied, Higurashi, Goblin Slayer (though more for violence than blood) had that. Same thing with fan service series. You have Sekirei or Highschool of the Dead with a compelling story and bouncing. Then you have a series like Queen's Blade which I fell asleep constantly and couldn't get past the third episode. Sure there were girls with little on, but if you don't have a good story, the T & A don't have a leg to stand on so to speak. I know not everyone is a fan of the fan service thing, but for me, any series of any genre needs something to hold your attention. Otherwise it is just throwing what they hope sticks to a wall.

another fucked me up when i was younger. actually seeing an anime that showed the gore happening. crazy
I’ve seen at least 7 of these anime back when I was a teenager interested in gorey animated shows and movies. I found the gore less traumatizing than the psychological trauma some of the characters had to endure.
Some of these moments almost made me lose my lunch. I recommend those with weak stomachs to not watch any of the shows on this list.

I remember back in the OG Dragon Ball Z when they had blood. But then they censored it whenever they punched their gut they used to bleed but;replaced it with spit and bright colors

It's because they decided to make it family friendly with lowering/removing age restriction which was a huge letdown to loyal fans of DB.

Loved Blood+, Elfen Lied, Ninja Scroll, High School of the Dead, Higurashi; liked Claymore. Attack on Titan and Tokyo Ghoul. Only seen a little of Berserk and Claymore, but found them to be fine. Most of the others I (clearly) havent seen but do want to see
Attack on Titan, claymore, blood plus, elfen lied was my bloody animes I watched as a kid
one thing about devilman crybaby is that it's of course bloody but there's also a lot of sex scenes, including one with a dead dude

Berserk and Claymore are the two absolute best in my opinion.
If the Gantz anime had a FMAB revival with a Proper animation then it would definitely be the proper adaptation of this great series

Me too, but in my personal opinion I find that Juuni Taisen is the most underrated one of them.
@@yuuichi4356 Ah I remember that one I had to skip over it though as I was Neck deep in anime at the time and was watching maybe, 30-50 anime at the same time, so I was trying to lower that count, will definitely give it a watch though.

Hellsing Ultimate is years after I saw it still my favorite anime. It's so delightful to watch the "hero" be so absolutely overpowered and ruthless 😎
Thank you for putting Another on here, the not as popular anime that is gory as you can imagine a horror mystery being, though tbh I only watched the sub because hearing the voice of Mirajane from Fairy Tail as Misaki, it is weird, but I like that shes doing things outside of that show though.

1. Devilman Crybaby
2. Higurashi When They Cry
3. Attack on Titan
This is so gruesome and disturbing that it just made it harder for me to judge. It was such a very close call between attack on titan and Highschool of the dead because of their population and the amount of bloody scenes but Attack on titan was just more gruesome than highschool of the dead by a "blood trail". The other two on the list were way more bloody than the others because Higurashi had a timeline of dying and then resets over and over and Devilman is the definition of bloody, whether it's killing, redness, bleeding, gore, hell, it's everything. The reason why I chose these ones was because it was more focused on human blood instead of monster blood.

If berserk had continued in anime form properly it would have probably been in the top spot and not just for violence

As much as I love to see Ninja Scrool being on one of your lists I must say that you have clearly not seen Sword of the stranger... And Inuyashiki should replace some of those less gory ones too. For example: Another is not THAT bloody. Its just full of death. I bet Princess Mononoke has more blood
Not sure what I was expecting on this list; Wasn't surprised about Elfen Leid, Tokyo Goul, Hellsing, Blue Gender, Genocyber, Parasite, Attack on Titan, or Ninja Scroll being here. Hadn't expected Shiki, though, but was surprised to see Higurashi When They Cry so high up there. Beserk is no surprise, I'm just shocked at Hellsing's placement.

Claymore was the one bloody anime my dad introduced me to and we both still watch it still blood plus was the first anime he introduced me to both bloody and vampire anime

Not a bad list included the old school but missed out on a couple like fist of the north star and violence jack. I've seen alot of anime and I think violence jack should off replaced devilman.

Parasyte was the 2nd ever anime I watched and the first I watched on my own accord with no one recommending it to me. I think it will forever stand as a top 10 show all time to me
Great anime for sure. As it stands I’ve seen over a 100 animes and I rank Parasyte somewhere in the top 20.

Considering that blue gender was the very first anime I watched as a kid. I actually hunted it, and I now own it including the movie, and it's uncensored. Great anime.

"Every timeline gets bloodier," that's the worst part about it. The original wasn't over the top with its blood and violence. Gou/Sotsu are over the top to the point of not taking it seriously.

As far I have watched, the monogatari series was the bloodiest, especially the kizumonogatari, there was blood flowing every second

Can I ask why Danganronpa doesn't make the list at all? Ultimate despair! Junko Enoshima created a world of despair having students massacre each other, to brainwashing most of the world to kill and off themselves. Creating a couple life/death games, and even after her punishment people still continued her work.
i thought it would be a gruesome anime, but most scenes dont show "gore" the same way as these shows.

The ginga series about dogs is absolutely bloody as heck. Seeing dogs rip each other to pieces with one scene with a dog ripping another dog's nuts from his sack was seriously disturbing yet at the same time it's a fantastic anime
They dont know it. Its old and rare so they have never seen it. They only watch mainstream junk and thats why their lists are full of it. Decades of anime productions and their knowledge is limited to the last 10 years

Sky wizard academy had some. Gunsmith cats had lots. Pretear has a little. The saga of Tanya the evil had plenty. Demon king daimao had some. Luck and logic series had little. Shigurui and Zetman should have gotten some nods. Those two are some brutal ass animes and I loved every minute of them. Super underrated

The violence in berserk 97 is surprisingly tame, especially compared to the 2012 Golden Age trilogy.
The bloodiest and most brutal disturbing shit I've ever seen is Blood-C. In my opinion this should not only be on this list, it should easily take the top spot and rip it to pieces.
