We have to give mad props to vidit because he had the chance of drawing the game but wanted a fight and took a risk, it didn't work yet still we have to appreciate his fighting spirit.

@@maqboolfida786 Tbf, that endgame was practically impossible to defend against any of the top players. Was surprised to see that Nepo held on for as long as he did. Made for a great spectacle though
@@Snoowfy yeah I agree. Ian is a worthy competitor and he might well qualify 3rd time in a row which shows he is truly above the rest when it comes to classical chess. In fact Ian is the only one I can think of who can push Magnus so deep into the end game.
@@maqboolfida786 I mean game 6 between Nepo and Magnus was an instant classic and one of the few times I've ever seen someone play so equally for so long in such a complex endgame against him, he is surely closer to him than others. Unfortunately though Nepo is not mentally fit to be a champion. Even if he qualifies for a third time, he collapses completely if something goes wrong on such high stakes. He is more patient in these candidates though so, who knows, maybe he worked on his mental fortitude.

McShane - Carlsen, London 2012, Bh2, Kg3, Bg1 sequence, Carlsen - Karjakin, Wijk aan Zee 2013 and this ending. Fantastic fight by both of them!
