The mystery item looked like the top of a flashlight. The part that holds the light and glass?? We’ll probably never know!! Lol!! Cool video!! Thanks for bringing us along!! Sorry about your fingers. ♥️
Nice vid. I to run an extreme scoop travel shaft. I recommend them. Mine does not unscrew. John at extreme usually will ask you what hand you scoop with. He will then send a shaft for that hand. My threads on the shaft tighten counter clockwise. It keeps the threads tight when I pull. Never had it pop loose. If you have the wrong threaded half, John will most likely change it out for you. Long finned fish is a small Pompano.
Seriously had the worst night, your videos are just soothing balm for the soul Shawn! If you ever come to the UK let us know! Hope the rest of your trip was awesome & your hands healed up ❤
I'm so sorry!!!! Tomorrow is always another day, and even the darkest days turn to light eventually!! I go across the pond periodically. Can't wait to get back!
Wow, the Bahamas! My husband won a trip there so him and I went. Oh my goodness just Gorgeous water and lots of fishes! Sorry you got burned Shawn, I imagine that was painful!
I was in the Bahamas once on our honeymoon. It was mid December so the water was a bit too cold. I was always a shell collector as a kid at the Jersey shore (and as a mom cuz I’m a crafter. lol). I had a cheap metal detector years ago. I always wanted to get a good one. My BFF’s cousin detected all the time when we were in our teens. I wanted to go with him because he was really knowledgeable. Unfortunately he liked me so I wasn’t “going there”. I didn’t want him to think i was interested in him. He was nice but he was a dork. And at 17 I was into the athletes. Ya can’t blame me. I was 17. Lol I was at all my BFF’s family picnics and parties. I went just about everywhere with their family (except on vacation. My parents were against it. They had enough kids to keep track of.lol) so I saw her cousin a lot. People assumed I was one of their kids. I might as well have been. I was at their house every day. Lol( I lived across the street). we aren’t young anymore and we’re all married with kids and grands so if I ever get a detector again I’m gonna ask my friend to talk to him for me and see if he will take me along on a local adventure. That would be awesome I’m 30 minutes from Atlantic City and we have a lot of popular lakes nearby.
Nothing wrong with dorks! haha. The hobby is so much fun!! Its important to get into it not expecting to strike it rich(because almost nobody does!), and you'll have a blast!
Great hunt on a beach that you haven't hunted before. How fun to take a cruise with your friends and I kept thinking to myself that you better get going back to the boat because those clouds looked nasty. lol Hope your fingers and hands heal quickly! Awesome video, thank you! 🌊🛳🌊
Hi Shawn, I went to the Dominican Republic couple of years ago didn’t take my detector unfortunately, did see a guy detecting on our hotel beach says he finds quite a lot of stuff , I did manage to find a big hooped earring tho just snorkelling and sifting with fingers through the sand and the fish were amazing 🐠😍
You are in the sea worrying about getting wet from the rain….. lol, you are already wet from the sea 😂 great vid, love seeing the beach, you are so lucky!
Well, nice 'metal' detecting clean up Bahamian trip! It's a shame how humans don't respect the environment. I cut my toe pretty bad on glass hidden in beach sand. Thank you for taking us along and sharing your adventure with us! Beautiful water and scenery! 😊❤️👍
Fun! My wife & I did that same cruise last spring and loved it. Sadly I did NOT have my detector but did spend a lot of time in the water with my mask and snorkel. Hope you had a couple of drinks in the 5'oclock Somewhere Lounge! And funny thing....when we got back on the boat we were getting rained on pretty hard too. But we were already wet so it didn't matter. Good vid, brother.
was out learning gold mode 2 yesterday. so far found a bunch of coins and a junk earring. ,talking to minelab. you can use a power bank. to recharge when out in the field. ,so got a power bank to recharge it 7 times. the nox battery is 5,000 mili amps. ,power bank 38,800 mili amps. , be out for days. have a good day boss.
Hi im a fairly new subscriber. I've been to Nassau Bahamas a few times . I also love to metal detect. One place my husband thought would be great to try is a place called ( pirates stair case ) The pirates made it many years ago to bring thongs on shore. The stairs were carved into the hard rock . It's fascinating to see. You would need norkel gear at least ,if not scuba gear. It is about a half mile from Jaws Beach in Nassau. It's by a water treatment plant . Please if you go ,keep me in the loop. Have fun.
I took that cruise when I lived in FL. First time we couldn't stop at the place there due to bad weather. So basically missed out on the whole thing!...cept inside ship. So went again! And got to that spot and was told and watched and told some more watch out for pick pocket groups and single ppl bumping into you. Avoid any interactions cause they will try to sell you things. And to be honest it was crazy. So again I left the beach...missed out on any good time. Never went again
I heard the same thing about the locals, but everyone that I met was wonderful. Nobody tried to sell me anything or try to take advantage of me. A few of them even subscribed on here! lol
I love your positive outlook! Even though it wasn't a very 'productive' hunt, you still cleaned up lots of trash. I'm sure it's fun to metal detect in all sorts of different areas. I've never heard of a clean plate being so hot that it would burn fingers! At least you knew that it was clean :)
That thing you thought might be a gps mount, is actually a part from a gas cooktop. A flat metal disk sits on that and the gas flames come out of the gaps.. very common in Australia. VERY strange to be found there?
Hey Shawn - What a fun trip and cool finds - even the garbage was unique. Sorry about the burns on the hand, hope you are OK. You are right, the water is absolutely beautiful. Interestingly, I have the exact same adventure planned for the end of July - it's a cool little cruise, and an easy trip. I really wonder how many folks detect there. I'll be bringing my Deus 2 with me. ;) - absolutely loving it so far. BTW, Nice b-roll in the video, even with noisy seagulls. Cheers, and hope you relaxed a little on your trip.
Ouch!! Sorry about your fingers… hope the cruise line gave you free drinks at least. That water was gorgeous… makes me wanna go to the Caribbean. I was disappointed & yet impressed that there was not one FRICKIN PULL TAB! 😂😂😂😂 always enjoy your videos… thanks.
When I was a server, I picked up a platter from a hot box that had waaay to many sternos heating it up. My hand swelled up so bad and throbbed so hard I had to sleep with it in a bowl of water in order to get relief. I really feel for you and hope the cruise line apologized in some way.
I took a cruise a few years back and hunted one of the tourist beaches beside Atlantis. That was the courses sand I've ever experienced, it's like glass shards. The beaches are also sanded in a bit which made for some deep targets. I only ring I found was a 925. Like you I focused in the water but the wet sand had more targets. My wife and I have put our house up for sale. Once sold we are buying a live aboard sailboat and traveling the world. My metal detecting is about to become EPIC! I keep asking you which machine you think is best between the Manticore and Dues 2, which you never reply. But, I see which machine you have the most faith in from this video. You may remember me from a year or two ago. We met while hunting the same beach. You mistakenly thought I was a friend of yourself since I was totally covered up from the sun. I was swinging a CTX with a 17" coil. Without naming the beach do you remember me?
Ran across your videos and have had the bug for a metal detector for a while now. Living in a history rich small coastal town in GA with a hunting club that use to be an old railroad town I think I could find some definite keepers. Can't find any good deals on marketplace so think I'm going to bite the bullet and get a cheapo and see what we can find. If I get lucky I'll try to get a better one. Keep up the good videos man. Binge watch worthy for sure.
You crack me up you’re always getting hurt, stung by jelly fish burned !😂 glad you’re okay and love your vids 😅you inspired me to start detecting! I’m a Floridian myself live in Deerfield beach! Have you ever detected over here ?!
One of the shelling videos I watch, removes trash from the beach when she finds it and weighs it. Then she adds to total of trash she has removed. Could be something to add to your videos.😊
Recently got back from Cocoa Beach, FL. Was able to get some metal detecting in with a new manticore. Found an ear ring, some change and... some "freaking pull tab's". Compared it to the equinox 900, the ferious indicator on the manicore gave the edge. Was it worth 6-$700 more. Probs not. But if you got in on the recent sale where it was only 1-$200 more than the 900, then it is totally worth it.
Landlocked fan here. Do you ever have any sketchy encounters with sharks when you’re out there in the ocean? Just wondering because media makes it seem like sharks and crocs are daily encounters almost. Love your content btw, so awesome.
It seems like it was a doorknob. The cruise itself was just ok. Having so many friends there with me is what made it wonderful! If I do it again, I'll definitely pick a nicer cruise line!
Of my scoops, my stainless Xtreme Gen-3 Sand Shredder Pro v2 with one-piece 46” carbon fiber handle leaves the rest in the dust…the others don’t even come close. Xtreme is the best scoop in the game.
Peppermint Essential oil is perfect for minor burns. It will take the sting out in a few minutes. It's cheap, readily available in grocery stores or a Walgreens (in the states, don't know about your cruise or Bahamas). It will also help it heal. If you can find some, get some, you'll be surprised.
If you go to the kitchen and ask them if you can get a ziplock baggie of flour, then stick your hand in the bag over night you never get any blisters and will heal fast. If you can get it cold from the refrigerator it will help with the pain.
Oh, and I meant to add that obviously those fishes could sense that you were a good guy--they'd never hang around someone with ill intent (even if you were kicking up a buffet of worms)
I am sorry you burned your fingers. But, from what I saw, you didn't find any Freaking Pull Tabs.....LOL glad you had a good time and got to detect for a little while anyways. Keep the videos coming.

They gave me 5 free drinks and brought some champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to my room 😂 hardly enough for the blisters on my hands and having to walk around the boat looking like Mickey Mouse with my huge white bandaged hands
Have you done Aruba or Saint Maarten or Punta Cana Dominican Republic beaches,I did years ago. Just the sand, friend did water with his Ex caliber. 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Not yet. The same friends who were on the cruise with me are planning on going to the dominican republic soon. I've been there before, just not with a detector
@@DetectFlorida my friend ( now deceased) detected Phillipsburg in Saint Maarten on his 69th birthday downtown beach, 2 feet off shore solid 5 ounce heavy 24kt Gold Necklace in the shallow Sandy waters. Paid for the whole trip.!! Lucky bugger!!
I love that you're not vulgar. Thank you.
I've never metal detected, but your enthusiasm and the beauty of the ocean is making me really want to take up treasure hunting. Kudos.
The mystery item looked like the top of a flashlight. The part that holds the light and glass?? We’ll probably never know!! Lol!! Cool video!! Thanks for bringing us along!! Sorry about your fingers. ♥️

It's not a frying pan but I guess a doorknob is pretty good😅
lolllllll that pan is gonna be tough to beat

so cruise ships just let you a metal detector like that or you have to pay extra?
