My First Drive in the Maserati MC12 - What a Legend!

- The Maserati MC12 is a legend, and a very rare one at that too as officially only 50 of the standard road cars were ever built. Sharing a platform and engine with the Ferrari Enzo it's a big, bad V12 monster with the added bonus of a removable roof and presence on the road that cannot be compared with anything else.
During a day with Greg / gregb.23 he very kindly threw the keys my way and offered me the opportunity to go for a drive in what can only be a described as a unicorn car - this is one I never thought I could even dream to put 'on my list', let alone actually experience!
Without being too technical because time was short and the car is excruciatingly valuable, what a behemoth of a machine it is. Armed with a bypass valve for as much noise as you could imagine, the intake above your head sucking air through to the engine and an amount of drama on the road that's virtually incomparable, this was certainly one of the experiences of my lifetime.
When we returned, we take a quick look at the LaFerrari's electric mode, and the Mercedes 6x6's self-inflating tyre system. Boys and their toys...

"He can`t drive ... " Well, he has literally never driven this Monster before and yes, it may have an outdated Gearbox that you have to become familliar with.
I bet he has much more driving experience with many many different cars than you will ever have in your lifetime.
Bay M I've owned an SMG3 equipped car (E60 M5). There is no "wrong" way to drive it.
You can help it along by lifting at the right time, granted.
But ... under no circumstance will you make it completely useless like this gearbox in the vid.
I think you could store your whole MC12 in the 6x6, not only the roof.

I've always loved the MC12. I remember it from when I was young and had calendars on my wall with the exotic dream cars of that time... Bugatti EB110, Ferrari F50, Lamborghini Diablo SV, Ford GT90, Aston Martin Vanquish, Jaguar XJ220, Lotus Esprit, McLaren F1, Italdesign Scighera, Isdera Commendatore and many more...

Those cars aren't his. These guys are all content providers who are allowed to drive these beasts for reviews and filming. The REAL owners stay hidden very rarely in plain view. Greg is just based in Sardinia as a content provider/Car productivity.

rumor has it that it also is faster on the track.
It's not faster, bc Ferrari wouldn't allow it, so they had to restrict the engine power. Otherwise the car is superior to the Enzo.
Maserati designed and built the car on the chassis of the Enzo Ferrari, but the final car is much larger and has a lower drag coefficient.
The enzo looks better sounds better and ultimately is better in my opinion. It is such a nice car.

There's a (few) reason(s) for why he didn't keep his 675LT Coupe. If you thought a 675LT Spider is expensive, you can multiply it by 3-4 for an MC12. And that's for a 12 year old car which, in part because of a single clutch automated transmission and a naturally aspirated engine, just isn't faster.
Being faster isn't important. I'm sure you feel more special in an MC12.
No doubt, and it's amazing for what it is. However with cars like this, you have a 7-figure (in $, € or £) garage trophy, and so you still need a car you can (at least semi-) daily drive. As an investment it's great, but you do need the money to buy it (plus a car you can actually use) in the first place.

The noise of that Maserati MC12 is something else. Its a huge size of car too. Never get fed up with looking and hearing La Ferraris and that Merc 6 wheeler, that's a monster!!! Its brilliant.

I’ve always found the MC12 to be a better-looking version of the Enzo. While the Enzo may be the faster, nimbler car, the Maserati will always be my preference.
The mc12 is actually the better car its lighter more nimble because it was a enzo chassis converted into a gt1 racecar

I've had the pleasure of taking care of an estate that houses quite a few gorgeous super rare cars, and this is my very favorite, it has that beautiful classy tar heel grey and blue interior, and the car is just big and bad, built to live and breath over a160mph

they should have extended the intake duct all the way to the front by the windshield so a extra awesome sound for the driver/passengers to be able to hear the air rushing past and give a extra to the experience.

Is the transmission slow or are you lifting off the gas on the upshifts? I've driven an F430 Scuderia and an Enzo (same time period of production) and don't remember the transmissions lagging as much between gears. Either way, the car is a beauty!
Well since it shares the same transmission as the Enzo (but tuned to different gear ratios), it should feel pretty similar. Although I bet the way you drive has a big impact on how the changes happen (where hard driving typically gives better shifts, and slow speed shifts often turn into clunky or long shifts). Haven't driven either though, but to my ears it just sounds like clunky low speed shifts of racing transmissions

BTW, the specs on the LaFerrari are awsome, what a great choice to have the painted roof instead of the carbon one that break the overall design, plus the yellow racing head light and the black rims... congratulation!

Decat the MC12 and it sounds as good as the Enzo.
I have heard both MC12 and Enzo in real life, and Enzo is louder. I know the engine is the same, but the exhaust, the engine bay, ecc ecc are not.
And I should have said, it is quiet compared to the Enzo or to what you would expect from it, but it's far from being actually quiet.

...Out of all the super/hyper cars Tim has driven (which is jut about every super/hyper car ever known to exist on the face of the planet...lol) The Maserati MC12 is without a doubt, without question, hands down....absolutely, the BEST sounding super/hyper car Tim has ever recorded in youtube for us all....not the loudest...most ferocious...most race car like....but the BEST....... (Big call i know...But i'm Calling it.......)
