    In this video, I will show you how to install the front hood deflector on a 2018+ Honda Odyssey.
    The installation is not difficult. Just follow the step by step guide in this video and you will have no problem installing this accessory.
    IMPORTANT: After installing this, I notice the metal bracket from Honda is angled too much which eventually will cause the double sided tape to lift and come off. Removing the old double sided tape and putting new one on will not fix it. The ONLY fix is to bend the bracket open so it isn't angled too far down, therefore releasing any stress on the double sided tape. You will need to adjust the bracket angle so that the hood deflector will simply rest onto the bracket with very little flexing.
    To remove the old double sided tape, you can warm it up a little with a hair dryer, then rub it off little bit at a time with your finger. Then clean surface with rubbing alcohol and reinstall new 3M double sided tape (see link above). Also clean the surface on the hood before reinstallation. Use the original template as a guide.

    The 2019 Ridgeline Hood Air Deflector (P/N 08P47-TG7-101) installation is the same with the only exception being that there are four (two on each side) hood brackets. The Template that comes with the Deflector has the cutouts for both brackets. Also all four are the same and you do not have to worry about which side they go on.

    the factory tape is worthless. i would recommend to let the brackets sit overnight on the hood prior to attaching the deflector. i replaced mine with gorilla heavy duty tape anyway.

      I also had the same problem after installing it. I ended up bending the bracket so it's doesn't put so much tension on the double sided tape. It definitely could have been designed better by Honda.

    You previously installed 3m paint protection film partial panel on the hood for this Odyssey. Did you remove the film before installing the hood deflector? or did you place the adhesive on top of this film?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Před 5 lety +3

      The 3M PPF film was not installed on the hood because I planned on installing the hood deflector accessory. There is no need to have PPF film protecting the hood when the deflector is protecting the hood. Also the deflector's metal bracket with the 3M double sided tape could possibly lift the PPF film which I didn't want.

      It prevents rock chips on the hood

    • @tomvance2721
      @tomvance2721 Před 5 lety

      It just helps protect the leading edge of the hood, plus deflects bugs and such so they hit above the hood. To some it adds to the look of the vehicle.

  • @meteakkus
    @meteakkus Před rokem

    Is it causing any problem in car wash? Is it really protecting hood paint from debris and bugs?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Před rokem +1

      I wash my own car so can't tell you for sure if it's safe, but it should stand up to the big rollers. And it definitely prevents rock chips on the hood. The bugs will still hit the windshield.

  • @minkuan5194
    @minkuan5194 Před 2 lety

    If not pushing on the reflector to close the hood, how do you close it?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Před 2 lety

      You don't need to push on the hood to close it. Proper way to closing is hold the edge of the hood up about 1.5' high and then let go so it drops to close. Pushing on a hood to close can actually risk denting the hood as many modern cars has aluminum hood.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes I did have this problem a few months after installing it. I notice the metal bracket from Honda is angled too much which eventually will cause the double sided tape to lift and come off. Removing the old double sided tape and putting new one on will NOT fix it. I probably tried 3 more times with new 3M double sided tape and it still lifted.
