This accident occurred because the first officer mistakenly moved the propeller pitch control to feather, rather than configuring the flaps to 30, as was intended. This made the engines completely ineffective for providing thrust, as well as leaving the wings incorrectly configured for low speed flight. They inadvertently stalled the plane a few seconds from touching down. What a sad day.

That‘s why we have redundancy and independent/duplicate inspections for critical assemblies of an aircraft. You actually can trust nuts and bolts being fixed by qualified maintenance and/or assembly engineers certified according EASA/ FAA/ etc. regulations. It‘s not the hard working, conscientious women and men who are assuring your safety every day… the problem is that there are regions in this world which are not regulated at all… Please don‘t say that it‘s terrifying … because there are a lot of people who give their very best for that you don‘t have to worry and have a safe and nice flight.
If you know these nuts and bolts have been tightly revised, severely inspected, and have been fixed by someone who has been doing this their whole life, one needn’t not trust them. In fact, the same could be said for your house, perhaps, as you don’t know who put the nuts and bolts above your head and into your walls. Yet you trust( like everyone else) that these bolts are safe, that they’ve been tightly revised, severely inspected. Every human, and sometimes their lives, rely on trust on people whom they’ve never met, yet are essential to your survival in this society. Who harvested your corn? Who lined the metals for your device on which you’re reading this? When a write writes his book, who should he thank? His friends and family for the support, and his team’s amazing work? Or the person who cut down the trees? The person who used the trees to make the paper? Without trust on people you don’t know, it’s hard to live in a world full of progress, where each is dependant on one another.

The flight took off from Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport at 10:33 am NST.[4] It crashed on the bank of the Seti Gandaki River while on final approach to landing at Pokhara International Airport.[5] A video filmed from the ground showed the aircraft banking steeply to the left before crashing 65 metres (213 ft) away.[6][2][7] Another video was streamed live on Facebook by Sonu Jaiswal, a passenger on the plane, before and during the crash. The video shows passengers unaware of the situation until seconds before impact.[

@@xogeneral1512God definitely is real. Our causal universe logically demands a prime mover, lest we fall into an infinite regression of causes and effects, which is logically impossible. A causal chain must have a first movement, and the first movement can not be self realized, it by logic requires a first mover, or as Aristotle puts it, the unmoved mover, the uncaused causer.
At 10:56:27, the PF disengaged the Autopilot System (AP) at an altitude of 721 feet Above Ground Level (AGL). The PF then called for "FLAPS 30" at 10:56:32, and the PM replied, "Flaps 30 and descending". The flight data recorder (FDR) data did not record any flap surface movement at that time. Instead, the propeller rotation speed (Np) of both engines decreased simultaneously to less than 25% and the torque (Tq) started decreasing to 0%, which is consistent with both propellers going into the feathered condition... The flight crew then carried out the "Before Landing Checklist" before starting the left turn onto the base leg. During that time, the power lever angle increased from 41% to 44%. At the point, Np of both propellers were recorded as Non-Computed Data (NCD) in the FDR and the torque (Tq) of both engines were at 0%. When propellers are in feather, they are not producing thrust... At 10:56:54, another click was heard, followed by the flaps surface movement to the 30 degrees position... When ATC gave the clearance for landing at 10:57:07, the PF mentioned twice that there was no power coming from the engines. At 10:57:11, the power levers were advanced first to 62 degrees then to the maximum power position. At 10:57:20, the PM (who was previously the PF) repeated again that there was no power from the engines...
Very complicated. Accidents happen because we dont expect things to go wrong..pilots should be trained for such mistakes Such situations. Not just normal flying
Final report On 28 December 2023, the final report was released. It reiterated the preliminary findings that the accidental change of position of both condition levers to the feathered position resulted in the loss of thrust, leading to the aerodynamic stall and crash. Some other contributing factors are also found, mostly human errors due to a high workload, lack of appropriate technical and skill-based training, ineffective crew resource management (CRM), lack of sterile cockpit discipline, and the non-compliance with standard operating procedures
I wired airplane harnesses for years. The crazy thing is you dont get the best training, at least the geoup i was in didnt. You do a few weeks of training and then you are kn the floor wiring. I remember you had to pass an eye test to make sure you werent color blind. A lot of the harness was dont by color code. We never knew what exaxtly we were wiring for the plane. You would go to work and there were boards up with a diagram on them and we would wire from the diagram. The plaes i worked on were smaller personal planes, we could have all the harnesses done wnd suddenly the person buying the plane would call and say they decided they DID want a hairdryer in the bathroom or some change and we had to rewire from there. We were also shown videos of bodies from a plan wreck as a reminder to take the job serious at all times and make sure we were wiring correctly. One error on our part could cause the plane to crash.
@@kade5275 yep, it's crazy that you do some classes and for a few weeks in a group and then your on the floor working. You don't have to have any special skills other than memorizing information for tests and passing the eye exam.

I mean they were low to the ground and the plane was tilting, but thats common when you're getting ready to land. The view out of that window was no different than Ive seen from many flights. Then just 5 seconds later you've crashed and gone up in flames...
I'm just glad that they didn't know what was going to happen except for maybe for a minute or two beforehand I'm glad that the family knows that they were happy happy and peaceful before
I was amazed how calm they were even at that time, and the man smiling, perhaps they knew our time on this world is fleeting and full of pain and were transcending beyond this mortal koil
I was on a plane, heading home, and we were less than two minutes away from lift off. The plane just dies. There was no power at all and they had to use hand radio to talk with the tower. They said the battery just died and acted like it never happens. They said they were going to replace it. They decided to try charging it back up, but said it would just go right back down. They put us on another flight. If we were in flight when it died, we would have likely crashed with no hydraulics or anything to even level the plane or wheels to do so. I use to love flying, but I can’t stand the idea now. I get nervous when I see airplane videos. This one’s eerie as f***!
@jeffnoe5004 not sure who Lisa is but God gives us free will. We built airplanes and we fly or ride airplanes. We know there are crashes yet we still get on them. Besides, He works all things for the good for His believers. If you're not a believer, you are definitely screwed all the way around, for eternity!😮

You are still alive but not 20 secs later is the most painful & scariest thing ever.
According to me my theory is that the ATR 72/42 had banked and had crashed on ground causing everyone to die on the spot and the reason behind the plane banking is that the wings stabiliser was some kind of damaged which caused the aircraft to bank towards the ground and crash well….. that can’t be changed and rest in peace to all the dead ones
The crash investigation indicates that the propeller blades had been set to feathered by accident, which caused them to produce no trust. The pilot had meant to extend the flaps, which was the adjacent lever.
@@JT-zy2ft They made the operation interlocks completely different. Flaps requires pressure on the sides of the (SINGLE) lever, and pull up to unlock. The condition lever requires pulling triggers on the bottom surface of the (TWO) levers. Phenomenal level of not paying attention.
The problem was that the plane was that the propellers were in feathered mode so any power put in the engines would do nothing bc feathered wouldn’t allow any powers to the engines it’s said the first officer who’s a trainer captain must’ve accidentally pulled the left for feathered mode instead of flaps 25

Please don‘t say that it‘s terrifying … because there are a lot of people who give their very best for that you don‘t have to worry and have a safe and nice flight.
@@jaydouglas8845mhm i have been in a car crash before
If you know these nuts and bolts have been tightly revised, severely inspected, and have been fixed by someone who has been doing this their whole life, one needn’t not trust them.
Today is the One Year Anniversary of the crash. 🙏🏻

The video shows passengers unaware of the situation until seconds before impact.[
well tbh isn't it so much better to be unaware of an impending disaster which u can't do anything about than knowing 5,10,20min even hours in advance that it will crash? that is my greatest fear when flying- that time between knowing you will crash and crashing.

Accidents happen because we dont expect things to go wrong..pilots should be trained for such mistakes
Such situations. Not just normal flying
Final report
On 28 December 2023, the final
report was released.
It reiterated the preliminary findings that the accidental change of position
of both condition levers to the feathered position resulted in the loss of thrust, leading to the aerodynamic stall and crash.

One error on our part could cause the plane to crash.
oh wow i didn’t know that

I was amazed how calm they were even at that time, and the man smiling, perhaps they knew our time on this world is fleeting and full of pain and were transcending beyond this mortal koil
Its an edited out video, the original one has people screaming in terror for a few seconds before the silence. I recommend you to NOT see it.
May Our Lord have mercy on their souls and comfort the families.

Aircrafts helicopters accidents are scary. In road accidents you dont know when you are gonna get hit all things sudden in roads but in Aircrafts you know in final 20 seconds that you are gonna crash and die, you cant save yourself from crashing. You are still alive but not 20 secs later is the most painful & scariest thing ever.
This is so sad. 😢 May they rest in peace
@@0TimSmit0yeah I’m not a aircraft engineer but putting those two levelers right next to each other doesn’t seem like a good idea.
