    Thanks for this tutorial! I'm wondering though, what exactly is the server? If I don't run it before starting blender will it not render?

    • @BeheadedKamikaze
      @BeheadedKamikaze Před měsícem

      Yes, correct. It's both the rendering engine, and a licensing gateway - it connects to Otoy servers and you have to login. It verifies that you've activated the Octane X trial on your account. Then, it will be the conduit between Blender and your rendering hardware (the M1 Metal GPU). It might surprise you to know that the Blender addon itself doesn't do the rendering; it's partly to work around the limitation of Blender addons to be written in Python - it's not fast enough for heavy computation workloads. But mainly it's so that the Otoy developers only have to make 1 version of the rendering engine that ships separately, and then each 3D software connects to it from a "thin client".

    Thank you! Once you get up and running, is it the same as using the "regular" Blender Octane version on Windows?

    Any benchmarks around? This might be promising in terms of performance.

    I p like cycles overall because it seems to have the best integration, consistency and UX. Would love to learn more about using octane with blender and how it compares to cycles.

      Thanks for sharing! I was asked to make a cycles vs octane X speed comparison which may help users decide to learn one over the other.

    When I run Octane Server, it never asks me to sign in. When I render in Blender, Blender acts like it's rendering. When Blender finishes rendering the render is black. I have M2

    Hi! How are you ? Thank you so much for your tutorials :) I have a Mac 2019 with AMD radeon pro 5500M. I downloded Octane and Cinema 4d but I am running into this problem that says: There is no gpu device which is selected. I already open the settings and check the boxes with both GPU availables but it seems like when I close settings window they unchecked and cannot solve the problem, any advice ? Thank u !!

    Hello. Can someone help me with blender octane? When I try to render anything it says : elapsed time : 00:00:00 -Rendering _waiting for image . I'm on an M2 Macbook air. I followed the same steps as the video.

    tnx for the tutorial! I see u have Blenderkit installed, but mine don't work well whit Octane. To download textures I have to quit octane, insert the texture on the object, then open Octain & go to rendering. there's a way to fix it?? (I have macOS M2 pro 13.4.1)

    excited to try this...what is the speed difference vs cycles? Does this work with particle systems?

    • @PixelPlanetStudios
      @PixelPlanetStudios  Před rokem +4

      I could do some speed tests to compare cycles and octane X, as well as look at limitations 🚀

      This video was created before the most recent (2023-03-08) Octane X Blender updates. If you are having issues, their support team is quick to respond.
