this is the part two of this project
    • Homemade Bench Grinder...
I come up to this idea because i do not have bench grinder at home and we are always experiencing block outs, besides our electricity in the philippines are way too expensive. but im thinking to add a washing machine motor to the part 2 of this video.
I got the bicycle parts from my friends junkyard.

History repeats itself! As a child in the 1950s, once each year a man on a bicycle with grinding wheels mounted on the bike would visit homes and offer to sharpen blades for a price. The stones were driven by the same pedals used to propel the bike. He simply raised the back wheel on a stand and then set to work. Thanks for the memory.

I love making things, but when I am tired, and want to relax, I love watching genius makers like your self! Thanks for sharing! I like to see how straight you can cut with your nibbler in the first video, that I watched, which led me to wonder about more of your videos. I have a nibbler also, but running it that straight is a daunting task! There is an old saying around our country; "necessity is the mother of invention". Even if you didn't actually invent the tools you are making here, you are very resourceful with what and how you are making it! I had to subscribe, I want to watch you more, when I am chillin' out. I know that sometimes I see a technique that I will be able to use on my own projects.

Clever.... and neat... What would make that even more great..... add on to the front of each work area of both stones, a "steady rest's"... and if you make the "steady rest's" removable and adjustable.... you can add other types of steady rest's that are specialized, like one for knives, one for your drill bits, etc... Another thought, these type of stones do cut at the speed (RPM's) you have going there.... but they really will cut better or to say, grind away the metal better, if the speed is spinning faster, and the stones will last longer... maybe drill a few extra holes down at the lever area, to get more "throw".. of course, the torque will lesson, but, if the stone is cutting better, it may be a better trade off, and may not require as much time to sharpen your tools... either way.. pretty cool set up, and completely requires no power.. good job..

If you attempt this build again, you should use a flywheel, the speed will be more constant. Maybe a bicycle wheel with sand/cement inside it would be a good flywheel.

Another great video. You do a very good job putting projects together. I think time well spent. I do have a suggestion though. Your bench grinder needs a return spring hooked to the up position . I think your grinder would benefit having a counter weight . Also maybe a gear ratio of 5/1. Just my opinion. Thank you for your time. Mate you really do nice work.
