Is part 2 already in 1.6.2? In 1.6.1 was a bug that destroyed my japan game. Pops couldn't migrate even after I changed the law.
Japan is basically the Brandenburg of Victoria 3 for Ludi
hey Ludi why don't you ever use the reset state production button? it really helps a lot after a conquest or a civil war.. you get every state copying your capital and then eventually you customise where you get shortages...

Playing Japan in Victoria 3 is like playing Shogun 2: Total War Fall of the Samurai
It is a bug that does sometime happen where you get zero market access to your overlord/puppet although I didn't notice it all in 1.5.X. I wonder if they brought it back for 1.6.X?

@@francothebrazilian2764 What are you smoking? For one, there are still plenty of decisions, perhaps you've just never looked at the "Decisions" tab of the Journal. Second, a lot of things that had to be handled by decision logic in Vic2 have turned into Journal Entries instead. Plus a lot of the nation formation decisions of Vic2 got moved into its own mechanic that's a lot more dynamic than just pressing a button when all the checkmarks are green.
There is a mod for that u know....
journals are the most soulless thing in the Game Watch how it is done in Vic2,Eu4 or even hoi4.
@Ludi you can also decrease taxes to increase your legitimacy. (For situation when you left last stage on law and had too low legitimacy) :)

i tired this but if you go all out on heavy industy, your SoL will kill you. Iam having so much radical that kinda killed my run. 20-30% turmoil on most states, lower taxes and slow constructions. Tbf i ignored most food/textile etc. production structure.

I did similar start as you with Japan. My only issue was markets. I joined the british market and in 1910 I had the 2nd largest GDP in the world. I got kicked out of their market after forcing recon... which crashed my economy. I had like -12k coal and was impossible to trade my way to it... sad ending.
Next time I'll just stay unrecognized and stay in a large market for as long as possible.
Hilarious considering Japan's historical reason for wanting to remain closed and self-sufficient was this very reason!
You just have to be conscious of what you need once you split from their market and always overbuild resources and underbuild manufacturing.

@@nogrammer Because you can always recover from having a shortage of manufactured goods when leaving a market, by simply making more. Since the effects of suddenly not having access to a lot of luxury clothes or groceries is not immediately felt and simply makes your pops poorer over time, as they now spend more on those. Or a shortage of paper making government expenses rise.
But having a shortage of input goods is usually fatal for the entire economy. Crashing entire production lines. Like the difference between knocking out the top part of a building and destroying its foundation.
Not to mention that if you overbuilt manufacturing you likely were selling a lot of those goods to pops in the rest of the market and not just Japan. So even if you don't run into a hypothetical resource shortage by using perfect micromanagement, the price of manufactured goods will crash due to an overabundance. And this is the best case scenario.
Could I ask for a North Peru run? It's just impossible to form Peru...

Ludi can you do a Serbia run? Their start is really hard but really unique, and I can't manage do figure out a consistent strat to form Yugoslavia. I'd like to see your take on it!
Even though you didn't ask me, because I'm a random. My strat is generally just trying to build a strong economy, and using that funding to slowly upgrade my military. With more upgrades to your country, it makes it more desirable for people to want to come, and with wars that you're not participating in you can get alot of refugees to stay. I'd also suggest getting involved in wars with allies, and basically strong arming treaty ports, or reparations especially if the two countries who have beef aren't anywhere near you, or are unable to get to you.
Basically play SUPER tall, until you can expand, then play conservative, make sure the new land you just took is optimized, play tall again, expand. You'll know when you're ready to expand again. Just play tall, get your nose involved in other peoples business, and make allies of those directly around you, so they won't be mean to you.
@@notleviathan855 Noted, usually the great powers form some pretty unbeatable hugboxes around me (my last run ottomans and russia were allied and austria was hostile and this run russia and austria are allied and turks are hostile) so I don't have literally any expansion paths. They can't dec on me bud. I improve relations with them from the start to avoid them declaring on me.
@@LudietHistoria they can expel and dec any time they want. Relations mean very little when attitude flips to belligerent. Russia does it to me all the time. On the bright side usually their first war is just to open market, which saves you the trouble of having to pass the law yourself. Take treaty port can be annoying, but it can also be an opportunity to win an easy war for recognition and war reps later once you have naval superiority
