    This drug has been literal poison to me. 25mg twice a day because iI got diagnosed with sleep apnea. 2 weeks for something that made me worse than i was before. Panic attack, anxiety, and depression I never had before. Uncontrollable crying and gloom and doom to a point of about feeling suicidal. Insomnia and crazy nightmares. I went to the hospital with 196/94 BP pulse at 115 resting when my BP used to be 120/67 and pulse about 60. I weaned off a couple days and completely stopped. Felt on top of the world immediately. It was making my heart race on small tasks and short of breath. I read 100s of reviews and maybe 10 were people that liked it. Other than that 95% were having the same issues I was having and I was glad I wasnt alone. Learn and be very careful starting this drug. Good luck.

      @Dan Aldrich it was literally the lowest dose. Only thing that made me realize I wasn't going crazy was the 100s of bad reviews I read with people having the same reaction. Doesn't matter now. I took matters into my own hands and took control of my health. Lost 70 pounds. Got excercise. Eat better. Amd now I'm barely on meds.

      @anabrown7048 I went Carnivore and got off the meds . Once I got off Metroprolol I was back to my old self mentally and took charge of my health. Now I have a BP of 105/62. Bettered my cholesterol, reversed my enlarged left ventricle, lower A1C and glucose, no more sleep apnea and raised my OS levels with my COPD. Down 120 pounds and cardio everyday and strength training. 💪

    I've been on Toprol - Succinate 190 for some years at night after dinner. Side effects I SUSPECT are erectile dysfunction, runny nose and constipation. I take Osmolax for constipation and it has solved that problem. I am 76 and have had two heart valves repaired in 2016 and I have had a heart attack 90% blocked when they put in a stent. I have recovered well and walk about 11,000 steps a day. I will discuss whether these side effects are related to my Toprol at my next visit.

      @PharmacistTips  Před 6 lety +1

      That is tricky, edema can be caused by many different things. Medications can cause it, but also if your heart isn't pumping as strong as it should, high blood sugars, or other health conditions. I'd encourage you to speak with your doctor and see if they can determine the cause. Thanks for watching!

    My father just started this tonight. He has Ventricular Tachycardia. His heart monitor that he wore for a month detected it. MRI has be done. Doc wants to do a catherazation up through his groin into his heart. My father is not keen on that idea. So Doc prescribed Magnesium Oxide 400mg and Metoprolol Tartrate 25mg 2x a day. The side effects of Metoprolol has my dad planning on only taking one dose a day. See how he handles it. He is already on Lisinopril, aspirin, plavix, and other meds. It's a lot.

    • @PharmacistTips
      @PharmacistTips  Před 5 lety +4

      That is a low dose and it is most effective when taken twice a day. It just may not work very well at once a day. He could ask the doctor about metoprolol succinate it is extended release and can be taken once a day.

      @@PharmacistTips Ok Thank You. The once a day is already making him extremely tired. He usually does nap during the day anyway. But he says lately he has been taking 2hr naps. Which honestly I think he had been taking before. He just wasn't aware of their length before. He has a follow up with his primary cardiologist in Oct, Which isn't the one who prescribed these meds. But I will try and get my dad to take the 2 a day. He usually forgets his a.m pills. So it's something I will have to remind him of every day. Thanks again

      Rachel G how things going with dad ? Can't believe they have him on three blood thinners , wow ! Metoprolol is what I take the Tartrate & it is not time released & should be spread out during the day, preferably 12 hrs, like 7am & 7pm is what pharmacist & Dr said. Magnesium Oxide is cheap worthless form of Mag. It has only 4% aborption. Good for constipation though !

    • @tubetime39
      @tubetime39 Před 4 lety +1

      Rachel G not sure if your dad had the ablation done yet. I was not keen on it either though I and a few others I know had it done & it helped. Sometimes it needs to be done a 2nd time as a little bit at a time is better than too much first time around,........the scarring of the tissue to slow things down.

      The metoprolol can help prevent another heart attack, I wouldn't stop it without speaking to your doctor first. Please also speak to your doctor about your other symptoms. Many people benefit from a regular exercise program after a heart attack, the exercise has been shown to improve depression and often improves sleep too. I wish you well!
