  • ( www.tfloffroad.com ) The new 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor is the closest we can get to a Raptor model in the U.S. (for now), but how well does it stack up against the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and our Jeep Gladiator Rubicon? The results are surprising!

Just looking at several comments talking about the guys being out of breath. They have something around 20-25% less available oxygen compared to most places. Trust me. If you live at altitude, your body compensates for the decrease in oxygen, one of the body's hormones, erythropoietin (EPO), triggers the production of more red blood cells to aid in oxygen delivery to the muscles. Takes about two weeks for the effect to start. A prime reason one of the Olympic Training Centers is located in Colorado Springs, CO. But, nice try...

I lived in Boulder, CO in the late 1990s. At the time, I was a recent college graduate and arrived with a 1993 Ford Ranger. It was very small compared to the modern Ranger. It also had all manual controls - no electronic, computerized controls. It had a cassette player though - lol. I put 319,000 miles on that truck - much of it on I-25 and the Boulder Turnpike. I had to move to FL in 2002 due to the IT job market crash. I have since returned to AZ and decided to get a 2022 Ford Ranger Tremor Lariat. This video was a factor. I traded in my 2019 Colorado Z71. The latter had low clearance and approach - largely due to the air dam. The elevated Tremor with upgraded electronic, computerized control is awesome. I bought it while in delivery since the Tremors were sold out in Phoenix. The chip shortage has made (1) trade-in value high and (2) popular models scarce. So, I felt lucky to find one by using the dealer inventory database. I tried out the Tremor in the remote mountains of Eastern AZ yesterday. It worked great over rugged rocks and rough dirt roads. The suspension and clearance are more robust for those rough dirt roads built upon old horseback trails of the 1800s - lol. It snows and gets muddy up there in the winter too. In the summer monsoon it can get very muddy. Despite the remote area, the navigation still showed the road name - very surprising. In 2000 I bought the F-150 at John Elway Ford in Boulder. That truck was only 2-wheel drive but made it up to Guanella Pass. I was a mountain runner back then and made it up Longs Peak via the keyhole route in less than 3 hours with a backpack. Boulder was great for mountain running. I ran up Mt. Sanitas hundreds of times and played a lot of basketball at the CU Rec Center. I am very happy with the Tremor purchase - thanks for your helpful reviews. Some people don't like the side steps and the auto-start/stop control, but I got used to both already.

I’ve been driving stick since I first got a car. Have had several off road manuals. They don’t make it more fun. They make it more aggravating when you lose wheel speed during shifts, or the clutch just can’t get you going smoothly on obstacles.

Nothing. Has to do with comfort and perceived quality. Some people don't want a cheap feeling interior. Plastic feels cheap.
