Kirsten, you're absolutely right. The Duchess of Devonshire really nailed it. This cottage and the surrounding area do look like they came from the Jane Austen's world. The cottage is so beautiful, elegant and spacious that I could easily imagine myself living in it.

The Duchess of Devonshire, married to the 11th Duke, was Deborah Mitford, the youngest of the notorious Mitford sisters, Nancy, Pamela, Diana, Unity, Jessica and Deborah. They were a controversial family, especially Diana and Unity, and wildly eccentric but absolutely fascinating. You should research them 😊

I was delighted to hear you say that you get so much Inspiration from the interiors. I watch these videos not just for the historicity, but also to gain ideas and inspiration in decorating my own little farmhouse/cottage in the states. As a matter of fact, at a thrift here, I recently stumbled across a gorgeous vintage victorian style picture of a floral still life. Where I hung it above my French Inspired bed....it sits higher than all the rest of my pictures in the room. My concern is that it might look a little out of sorts with the rest of my pictures; but as I was watching this video, I saw pictures sitting high/lower in the same room. Design question answered. You included all of my favorite content -walking through the gorgeous English countryside, staying in a perfect cottage, cooking a deliciously-looking (and I’m sure tasting) dish, scenes of a grand country estate, and cozy reading by the fire. Oh Scott, thank you so so much! Honestly, it's such a gorgeous place especially because it's on the Chatsworth Estate and waking up to deer next to your cottage, just wow. We can also highly recommend Hex Cottage in Suffolk, the experience without electricity and candles is simply amazing.

Good morning Kirsten, I was so pleased to see this video because I walk past this cottage at least once a month. I am lucky enough to live about 15 minutes drive from Chatsworth estate and for the last thirty years my husband and myself have walked our three favourite local walking areas of Chatsworth, Longshaw and Hsthersage throughout the year, enjoying the changing scenery of the seasons. Oh, my goodness! We used to drive by this cottage all the time when we lived in Bakewell. It has such an amazing history and has always been one of our favourite places on the Chatsworth estate and one we miss so much now we've had to return to the US.

WOW! Look at that kitchen!! It's just perfection. And the dining room curtain fabric! I'm so much like you Kirsten, in that I soak up every bit of aesthetic detail in a room, appreciating everything. An absolute gem of a cottage. My favourite cottages (especially the ones on your channel) always involve woodland and romantic situation within a landscape. However, people like us enjoy going away mid-winter too and this is one that's perfect for the colder seasons where garden, trees etc doesn't matter as much. This estate cottage is very 'Wuthering Heights' in it's quiet drama rather than lush 'Emma' or 'Middlemarch'. Beautiful!! Love your channel.
We use to spend a lot of time in Tintwhistle. We would go all around there. It is really stunning. My Brother In Law was and acquaintance of the Duke. Thanks for taking us there.❤❤

Beautiful right out the novel cottage. So many beautiful details. I agree on the chairs. In the kitchen I loved the “gingerbread” above the shelf with the cups that was the same design as on the hutch which looked antique. Lovely grounds. Jorge makes a wonderful cottage pie. Die Häuschen sind immer so hochwertig ausgestattet. Bekannte Stoffdesigner und Tapeten- einfach so schön 👌. Da fühlt man sich sofort heimisch . Hier ist es oft zweckmäßig aber nicht so stilvoll und gemütlich. Das Scone ist ja wohl der Knaller😂.In Zukunft werde ich auch die 🇬🇧auf den CottagePie „ritzen“ 😜

Ja, das Cottage war perfekt. Sie sind natürlich bei weitem nicht alle so, man kann es auch ganz karg und schlicht haben aber das mögen wir ja eher weniger. Der Scone war echt der Hammer. Ich fand das auch so witzig, das hat Jörg zuvor nie gemacht und ich wusste es nicht. Als ich dann gefilmt habe, hat er es gemacht und ich war so überrascht. Viele liebe Grüße

I love Edensor and I lived in that area for three years. Whenever we can my husband, daughter and I stay in a cottage in that area. We shop for 'special' meals at the farm Shop and enjoy looking at all the beautiful foods on offer. Sometimes we have breakfast in the farm shop cafe. delicious! My ancestors were survivors of the Eyam plague and a few of their descendants (also my ancestors!) are buried in the churchyard in Edensor. It's an area of Derbyshire which we adore. Thanks for the lovely video - I knew the cottage you were staying in, immediately!

Das große Chatsworth Anwesen würde ich wahnsinnig gerne von innen ansehen. Bestimmt ist die Gartenanlage auch ein Traum. Ich hoffe Jörg geht es etwas besser. 🍀 Gute Besserung! Hallo liebe Gabi, vielen herzlichen Dank! Das Cottage ist so hübsch nicht wahr! Oh ja, in die Kommode unter dem tollen Bild im Esszimmer haben wir uns auch so verliebt. Einfach so schön und richtig exquisit! Chatsworth können wir so empfehlen, es ist ein tolles Haus und ein hübscher Garten. Dankeschön, Jörg geht es Gott sei Dank wieder besser. Ich hatte am Wochenende etwas Probleme mit starken starken Kopfschmerzen, deshalb mussten wir uns eine Auszeit gönnen. Ganz ganz liebe Grüße

Setting! Those deers were amazing. I’ve never seen so many and o get quite a few in my backyard here in Southern Maine but nothing like that just beautiful. That sunset was so stunning it almost look like a painting. Now I have to mention that scone . Wow what a scone and in cherry my favorite and that Shepard’s pie was another wow looked so yummy . I could see how much you really enjoyed your stay . Iam so glad. Thankyou once again for the adventure loved it so much. Have a beautiful blessed day 🙏🕊❤️💐🤗

Lovely cottage, huge bathroom, tasteful decor - love the deer & that huge scone. Enjoy your travels.
I love everything about this cottage - when can I move in??? The decor is so elegant yet it looks like you can feel comfortable living in and using every room. The kitchen is to die for! I love exposed brick in a kitchen. The four poster bed is beautiful - I have always wanted one just like it and the painted chair in that room is gorgeous. I could go on about every little thing. What a dreamy place to stay!

I’ve lived abroad for twenty years. Seeing quintessentially English bits and bobs feels both familar and yet foreign at the same time. The grey skies. The rain. I miss that weather whilst enjoying Italian skies. Shepherd’s pie strikes me a mush. And yet I remember it with affection. Bathrooms without bidets shock me to the core. A rural cemetery? Oh, do bury me there! How odd it is to have had this double life of England, and then another nation. Perhaps you guys, the longer you reside in the UK (how long has it been?) have an inkling of this strangeness of belonging in more than one time/geographical/cultural dimension yourselves.
Love your adventures!! The cottage was so pretty! I do love Jane Austin and pride and prejudice. Love that time period. Love the homes the clothing and just the era. Thank you for sharing your experiences!!🤗

This was "start-to-finish delightful" . It was an elegant video in all respects. The furnishings, exquisite. So many Jane Austen hints, tastefully arranged. Thanks for taking time in each room. Thanks also for showing us where Deborah(Mitford) Devonshire and Kathleen Kennedy are buried. The deer visit must have been marvellous. The "mega-scone" too - glad Joerg enjoyed it.
