Just bought this machine in the USA, here it’s the 6800C. Your review was great! Cheers 7:34
Lovely to hear that you enjoyed the review! I hope you enjoy your machine as much as I do! Happy sewing 😊
Great review!
Thank you!! 🥰
I have this machine - I upgraded from an Elna, which was my first and I quite liked it. I love my Singer. It has wonderful features which I would NEVER go without again. The biggest to me is the ability to move the needle, which the Elna didn't have. I also love the stitches, I don't use them very often but when I do, I always wonder why I don't use them more often. I'm with you about the backstitch. My Elna had a lever, which I much prefer, but apart from that, I am so happy with my Singer 6805 and can't see me changing for many years to come.
I can’t believe the Elna machine didn’t have a movable needle! I feel like I’m always moving mine around!
Love hearing about others who love their Singers!
@@behindtheseamswithjess That was the main reason I upgraded - my Elna was only 12 months old and a really good machine. But you just GOTTA be able to move that needle!
I don’t need a new machine (I have 9)… but I can’t stop watching reviews…. Oh well 😂
Hiiii…. From new sub #60! Whoot!
Hehe I won’t tell anyone if you decide to get number 10! Thank you!!! 🥳🥳
Great video thank you❤
Thanks for watching! 😄
Wow, that Aussie-tax is brutal, I think the same machine is about $350 in the US.
🥲🥲 damn!! You guys have great fabric too, maybe I need a sewing shopping trip in the US 😂
That's true. I only need to pay half of her price for the machine in my country.
Where are you? I’m always so curious about sewing costs in other countries!
@@behindtheseamswithjess I am in China. Price here has been 2298 CNY for a while.
I was supposed to visit China for work this month, I may have come home with some new machines for that price 😂😂
Thank you for your review just bought this for 400 pounds 😊
I hope you love it as much as I do! 🤗
Thank you for a great review. You just helped me make up my mind about it 👍🏽💐
You’re welcome!! 🫶🏼
I have the 6800 as well, I find that every now & then when I change the bobbin, the bobbin thread shows up on the top stitch. It’s super annoying. I adjust the tension & everything else, but nothing works. I bought this machine because my arm was getting tired of turning the hand wheel on my old machine & needed one for heavier fabrics. When this machine is working good, it’s really good, but some days I just wanna throw it out the window.
How strange! Have you looked at adjusting the bobbin tension? It’s a bit tedious but not difficult (videos on CZcams show how) but it may be that your top thread tension is ok and your bobbin tension is off? I remember adjusting my bobbin tension once trying to use some shirring elastic and it helped!
I just ordered this machine (currently have three fully restored No.6 treadle machines and a No.66, but are display pieces), and am completely new to machine sewing. I am an American Revolutionary Reenactor, and want to make my own hybrid (machine sewn hidden seams, hand stitched visible seams) frocks/coats, and was curious if this machine will handle a nice, heavy wool that we use for our coats? Thanks in advance. My last sewing project was a completely hand sewn, lined, all wool regimental cloak.... never again. Haha
Ohhh all that hand sewing would have been taxing! I haven’t sewn wool yet (just purchased a lovely wool cashmere blend though!) I think it would be best to test a sample of the thick fabrics you are going to work with on a demo machine if possible!
Do the machine have a feature to change sewing direction for straight stitches? I.e the default is front back but just wondering if there’s an option for left to right also?
This one doesn’t, however I have seen videos online of people dropping the feed dogs, popping an embroidery foot on and moving the fabric in the direction they like 🤔 might be worth trying!
I have this one. I like the stronger motor, which the old old machines all used to have. I could swap out the motor on this one for a stronger one and then it would sew like the older all metal machines. This one is my compromise machine. I still really want a SailRite portable for heavy canvas, upholstery and leather. I don't have that kind of money. Going to test this machine out on jeans today.
I would think this would be ok for heavy canvas and upholstery! I have used it on denim with no issue, I swear I saw a video of someone sewing through 8 layers of denim on this machine on CZcams! Hopefully it’s successful for you 😄
@@behindtheseamswithjess often those kinds of videos are misleading.
Did you go ok with the denim?
Thinking about upgrading from my beginner setup, I’d like to not buy another machine aside from a serger in the future. How do you guys feel about this machine? I make clothing garments for reference
I still love this machine! I make garments too and it’s been great. I am considering getting a Juki industrial by the end of the year, mostly for improved speed and stitch quality, but will definitely keep this to use for everything else than an industrial can’t do
Hi, I have this machine and sew fairly heavy stuff at 4.5mm stitch length with it. It is good except that the backstitch seems to be only one length ...2mm, almost the shortest length the machine sews, so it is impossible to reverse into the same holes unless set to 2.
Have you found this, or possibly discovered how to make them match?
Oh how strange! I haven’t noticed this but I don’t change my stitch length often unless I’m just popping in a basting stitch, so mine may be the same
Have you tried just changing the stitch length to 0 and doing a few stitches on the spot instead of reversing if this is for back tacking?
@behindtheseamswithjess iI do use the tie off, which does work, although at the end of a seam in heavyweight material, I prefer to reverse and forward to make it strong. For now, I'm doing two tie offs separated by a stitch. Seems pretty strong that way.
Have you done any other videos on this machine, I’d really like to see some tutorials 😊
All of my sewing videos are using this machine! 🤗
@@behindtheseamswithjess silly me 😜🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Hi, dear, thanks so mutch for your rewiew, sorry for my English, i bought it few days ago and I love it from the beginning, I'm beginner and I want to ask you if you have some suggestuon about the right stich to use for a little hem in a light jersey fabric I tryed overlock stich but something was wrong and the fabric was piched under please let me know 🙏🏻bye Daria from Italy
Hi Daria, I’m so sorry but I haven’t used jersey/stretch fabric! I only sew with woven fabric, however I know a lot of people use the zigzag stitch on these types of fabric!
Thanks so much for your fast reply, please make new videos with using the HD 6705. Have a nice rest of the day 🤗😘
@dariavigliano1784 will do! Hopefully in the month 🥰
How do you like this machine for sewing on denim?
I have made a denim dress on this machine, it was fine just like my other fabrics! I did use an appropriate needle though 🙂
Can we do free motion quilting with this machine?
I can’t say for sure as I have never tried it, but I assume if you had the appropriate foot and dropped the feed dogs, it might be possible? I think dedicated free motion machines have much longer arms to allow for more fabric though!
Have you tried quilting with it? I need a machine that quilts but over $2000 is way out of my price range 😔
I can’t imagine that this would struggle! You may need the walking foot if your working with particularly thick batting 🤔
Great Video! Do you still like using this machine?
I do! It’s really quite a workhorse for me 😄
My machine is not seeing the stich good can I please get some help the stitch is not correct I don't understand why because it was
You may have to take your machine to a service technician to be looked at 😞 I’m not sure if I would be able to help much, sorry!
I was able to get a 6805C for under $700 AUD. I call that lucky, then.
That’s a great price! I do see the singer HD range go on sale for 40-50% off every now and then, definitely pays to wait for those discounts 😅
@@behindtheseamswithjess I already have someone wanting to see my first sewing project with this machine.
Where did you buy it?
Did she say $90 for extension....
Yes $90 AUD, but I think it was on sale! I think they usually retail for over $120 AUD which I think is crazy for a piece of plastic 😂
Hey, are you an aboriginal or a settler aussie?
Hello! I don’t have any aboriginal descent, so one side of my family is definitely settler, although my grandparents on the other side immigrated from Slovenia

My god, you are stunning! 😍
Thank you!! That is so lovely!! 🥰🥹
