After owning a Xmaxx for quite some time I noticed the more you upgrade it the more it breaks. The more basic the better and the more light weight it becomes. Only upgrade I have now on the Xmaxx is hobbywing max6 and some rpm hubs. Robinson pinions and HR spur work perfectly together. Great video 👍

Honestly, I had a belt drive laying around, was desperate and slapped it on 3 years ago, and never even had to replace a belt. Went through 3 1100kv motors and it just is insane! I thought it was going to be garbage! FYI incase anyone wants to give belt drive a try and stop going through expensive mood 1.5 gear costing hundreds, the best even wear down after a season of hard bashing. Great vid! I wish I had a machinist! Very cool!

Hey man hopefully you see this. I have an xmaxx and every single time I’ve taken it out literally within 5 minutes the gears that you replaced break. Usually it’s just a grub screw issue so I had my buddy at a shop thread lock it and it worked amazingly for a solid 20 minutes (lol joke). But then suddenly the bottom gear basically exploded and had like 90% of the teeth shredded off of it as well as a few teeth on the pinion gear. I replaced those and took it out and within 5 minutes it broke again. Any tips or idea of wtf is going on? I am new to the hobby but am not stupid so no I don’t do things like just slam full throttle wide open or slam on the breaks either. Everytime I go into a shop I get treated like I’m stupid and they give me absurd wait times and ridiculous labor rates

When I ran the stock gears i found they would break when you throttle on landing..even just slightly it will explode the gears.. i then tried some hardened gears like hot racing and lasted a little longer.. try searching for 'GDS xmaxx gears' if you plan to stick to 1mod size gears, it has been reccomended to a few people in my channel comments.. stay tuned to the channel bro, any probs happy to help 🙂👍
I changed the same as you did, but it turned out to be even worse with the bigger gear. When the Motor gets hot, the pinion gear comes lose and it happens to me twice the gears just jammed and stuck and twice the Motor shaft was bended. Same Spectrum Motor as yours.

Yeah I bought motor mount pretty close to that but I believe the spectrum between each screw hole is 25mm So I might just give the dremel it a try and shape down a little bit so the hole match up
I have max 6 in my X-Maxx and I really like it Sweet I just picked up the spectrum 1250kv motor to put in my Xmaxx. I'm sick of burning up the stock motor and Traxxas charges too much for it. It seems like this will be a nice upgrade.
Yes it has worked for me, but keep in mind i only use this for bashing/jumping etc.. i have had times where if i did a full run around the track driving it like 'a racecar buggy' with out throttling off for a good 10mims and it sometimes cut off due to overheat, we have had some races around the track though and no issues, its in one of my vids (about 1 or 2 lap races).. i upgraded the fans to high rpm and its helped too, also my gearing contributes to that.. like i said i built it to bash 🙂.

I’m in Brisbane, just got my xmaxx and haven’t ran it yet. Bought the traxxas HD arms, RPM hinge pins, rpm hub carriers etc. looking at a motor and esc upgrade before I take it for a drive. Just so confusing with gear stripping and mod 1 or 1.5 and all sorts of stuff at the moment.

When you land do not hit the throttle that will not only save your diff but your gears as well

Are you using the motor with 8 mm shaft?
