    He could go to another level next year if he begins to shoot more when he has the opportunities. McDavid is a great playmaker, still so many times this year he passed on chances with an open lane in the slot. Now that he has real NHL experience I wouldn't be surprised to see 50 goal season in the near future

    McDavid is a long way away from Crosby status yet. Crosby is on another level, he controls the game. McDavid is fast and talented like crazy, a beast on the rush, he just doesn't have the strength and puck protection yet to be on the same level. Perhaps he will get there, it's definitely possible, but that is a TALL order. Like Crosby or not, he is one of the best to ever play the game.

    The speed of Kane but faster, the puck handling of Datsuk but quicker, the size (he's only twenty and will add 25 lbs over the next 5 years will put him in a new category - the FUTURE of what hockey will look like. The scouts will now be looking for more who are as dedicated, schooled, well groomed and hard working as this guy down the road. It has little to do with being the best in points this year, he may just be the savior of a sport that saw 5 franchises fold/move in 10 years. Hockey was dying and it needed a breath of air, and it got it in McDavid. He does things at full speed most cannot do at half speed.

    Sid's still the best, and he's left a legacy. Also, Crosby knows that in order to keep up with guys like McDavid he's gotta maximize his game. That's why he has made some insane goals this year and is carrying the team to a top playoff spot AGAIN with all the injuries they have had notwithstanding losing their best defenseman for the post-season. I'm so tired of all the whiners because the 'burgh has been given great talent; hate Crosby all you want, but denying his talent and seniority here is asinine.
    If the Pens lose this year I'll root for the Oilers because I do like McDavid. I just think most hockey fans suck.

      I am a huge Ranger fan, and I am completely unbiased. I appreciate great players on all teams. Even on bitter rivals, I respect the greatness of anyone, even guys that are jerks in some ways, I actually like them in a way. Always hated Crosby, but he has earned my respect in the last year or two, that's for sure. As a side note, what this highlight reel shows me, is a shit ton of easy goals by McDavid. I don't see a multidimensional player.

    • @visforvendetta1326
      @visforvendetta1326 Před 7 lety +1

      Nah. What you saw is how easy McDavid makes playing hockey look. That's the deceptive charm of the kids talent. The tap in is only the icing on the cake. What the highlight reel doesn't show is the skating and passing that lead up to the goals. There is no one on the Edmonton Oilers that is makes McDavid look good. If he scored a bunch of easy goals, then tell me which player is doing all the work? I would love to hear your unbiased opinion.

    • @samuelluria4744
      @samuelluria4744 Před 7 lety +1

      Vis - That last line about my unbiased opinion was unnecessary, since I actually am unbiased, and sarcasm won't help or hinder that. Based on everything you just said, let me offer you a third option - maybe it's just a shitty highlight reel, specifically because it fails to show exactly the BEST part of his game?!?!? I'm willing to accept that this may be the case. That's too bad, cause I would love to see all that stuff. Not being able to see many of his full games, I have to rely on highlight clips on the internet....have mercy on me.

    • @visforvendetta1326
      @visforvendetta1326 Před 7 lety

      My point is, a gifted person makes it look easy. That's a simply truism of life. Regarding his game. I've heard a lot of critical analysis from people who's job is too talk and critique players, and the one thing I've never heard any of them say about McDavid was he is a one trick pony or a one dimensional player. Maybe I don't quiet know what that term means to hockey, but one could make the argument that all the elite goal scorers, are one dimensional players - except for Bobby Orr, and Gordie Howe, they could fight, skate, score, and pass. Of course I can't prove you wrong, but as a Ranger fan, how often have you got a chance to watch this kid play? It's like me trying to critique Sydney Crosby. I live in the western conference, so I rarely get to see Crosby play. I know he's good, but I couldn't explain without relying on others to tell you why he's good.

      the same echo. this lame ass argument is getting old.
      McDavid is the new king, Crosby fangirls better get used to it.
      First in points, 4th in takeaways (Crosby was 125th), best +/- defensive stats in the top 30 (crosby is 9th).
      In every single aspect of the game except for shooting, McDavid is superior to Sid. And he's only 20 yrs old lol.

      Classic, one good season does not make him best in the world, you Edmonton fans are a little too excited, you'll see he will choke in playoffs and that will be proof enough that he ain't the best, yet.

    Enough of the Crosby vs McDavid nonsense...Both are fantastic talents and in different ways which should make any hockey fan appreciate how lucky we are to watch them play at the same time... McDavid with his speed and acceleration and Crosby with his edge-work, puck protection and vision.
    I would give an edge to Crosby after watching him in the playoffs vs McDavid in the playoffs. That doesn't mean I cant appreciate arguments from the other side. Even if I don't think McDavid has passed Crosby as best in the league yet, only a fool would say that it isn't in the cards in the next few years..That also goes for other great talents such as Mathews, Liane and Karlsson...
    Hell I could appreciate arguments that show that Karlsson is the overall best in the league right now.. Or Price...
    The point is that enjoy the game now and the great talent showcased.

    it's hard to compare the two first seasons of McDavid and Crosby. The NHL has changed. There were more goals, more power plays in the first seasons of Crosby. Look it up, you will see it yourself. If McDavid had played his two first seasons in the same time, he would have gotten a lot more points.

    Why is this whole comment section “McDavid vs Crosby” No one said that Mcdavid is better? We are hyping him up cuz he is a mvp player at 20 years old just like crosby was. We are hyping him up for the FUTURE. Crobsy is 30 years old like chill lol

      They need better management and coaching still. If they can add depth and productive wingers with McDavid and Draisaitl along with a star dman then they'll be good to go.

    I was there when Ovi, Malkin and Crosby come up and even Stamkos. McDavid's impact on the game is better than Malkin, Stamkos and Ovi... Only Crosby was at the level of McDavid but even with that... McDavid is better than Crosby today.

      I was around to see Bobby Orr in his prime and while Bobby was the greatest skater I ever saw Connor dominates games with his skating a lot like Bobby did. Many people think Gretzky is the GOAT, I disagree, Bobby Orr was the best player I ever saw, he averaged nearly a +1 for every single game he played, the next best player all-time was +.5 per game. At 20 years old Connor McDavid is not yet the greatest of all time, but he is for this time. Given a consistent rise in ability I can see this kid exciting fans for years, perhaps we are witnessing the flourishing of greatness.

    • @bosserification
      @bosserification Před 7 lety

      MISTERComaToes I agree with you on the Orr-Gretzky thing... Orr was better... In the era of today Karlsson make me thing a little bit of Orr when I see him play. But Connor McDavid is just a unbelievable player... In one season he put the Oilers back in the playoffs by himself. Like damn.

    • @timeinstinct9873
      @timeinstinct9873 Před 7 lety

      Rocky by himself? That complete bs. What about Lucic and Talbot and the fact he plays in a pretty bad division too not saying he's not gonna be the best one day but not right now. Crosby currently is a slight bit better and that's due to Sidney playing with almost rookie wingers and in the metro division still winning the rocket. No doubt tho mcdavid and Mathews will be the next Sid and ovi maybe better

    Best offensive player in the world, thats no queston. Speed, hands and puck IQ makes him lethal weapon to offensive end. BUT, reason why Crosby is for now better, is that Crosby is better without puck. McDavid made allready 100 points, in future, hes gonna get even better, with good linemates 120 points is realistic. Actually, with ok linemates, 120 points is still pretty damn possible.
