  • I'm back with another Honda, and what a great driving Honda it is. It may look funky, but put that in the back of your mind and drive one of the few manual cars that makes you feel like you're actually driving a car. A big thanks to Will for letting me drive the Boost Blue machine, he's one knowledgeable guy when it comes to all things Honda.

    I love my FK8 probably the best car i've ever owned, at least for me. Oddly practical and great to just drive normally, and when you want it it's a monster on back roads + tracks. Just swap out the wheels and tires for more practicality, hold on to your originals and put some good rubber on and you have car you can drive all year long.

      I don't mind it being a 4 door but you might get your wish with whatever was just spotted, claiming to be the next RSX/Integra Type R. It looks pretty rad. And thanks James, might do some dad car reviews when the time comes.

      @Altek1  Před 3 lety +1

      Deep pockets indeed! I totally forgot to mention that the price is pretty hard to justify. Once you get into the 40k territory, my mind starts thinking Audi and BMW. But of course you're not going to get the peace of mind, knowing it'll always just work like you would a Honda. Either way, such a great car despite all my sh!t talk about the looks. Thanks for always watching and commenting bud! Much appreciated!

    I really like this car but I feel its so perfect in original form you can’t do anything to enhance it (upgrading turbos, intercoolers, etc.).

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 2 lety +1

      Short of the rev hang and clutch travel, I'll agree, the drive is perfect. I think the next TypeR will tone down the physical appearance a bit and it may just be the best fwd manual car you could buy.

    Nice review, would you consider selling your WRX for a civic type R?

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 3 lety +2

      Even if I did sell it, I'd still be about $20k short, but let's just say it was an even swap, that's still a tricky question. The drive is incredible and I hate to say it, better than the Subaru, and I'd get better reliability out of the Honda in the long term. Having said that, I'd look like even more of a teenager in the TypeR than I would in the WRX, and that's a bit harder for me to justify nearing 40. Glad you enjoyed the vid, thanks for watching!

    • @haragan666
      @haragan666 Před 3 lety +1

      So if you are an adult, you shouldn't own the machine? Perhaps you should consider a buick or Cadillac mate..iam 41 and I own 21 type boost blue...and I tell you that the feeling being 41 and drive this baby is unbelievable.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 3 lety +1

      That's not what I'm saying. I'm just stating a fact that most Subarus that pull up to me are kids between 18-22. I find very few adults who opt for a Type R or STI over a BMW M series or MB AMG model, granted the prices are as wildly different as the designs are. I'm right with you, drive what feels right and what you like, but it doesn't change the stigma associated with a guy nearing 40 driving what looks to other people to be a toy. Having said all that, that new Caddy Blackwing looks insane and would be the proper adult choice for a guy like me looking for a fast car, now all I have to do is figure out to afford it.

    Can you give us updates on your Acura Legend and Integra?

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 3 lety +1

      I was intending on doing an update video on the Legend. Owned it 6 years now and only put $500 into it, so that's a success story worth talking about. The Integra I may have to sell, still mulling it over in my head. I don't want to but I have a baby on the way and three manual cars, of which all are toys, is hard to justify now.

  • @typerfk8
    @typerfk8 Před 3 lety

    The Type R is the best of both worlds, can drive like a normal Civic when you want to and can drive it like a Porsche 911 when you want to. Tons of space, backseats can fit full size adults. There are faster cars available but not many cars do EVERYTHING like this thing can.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 3 lety +1

      If I'm not mistaken, he got it as a factory option when ordering the car. If that's the case, you should be able to order the parts directly through Honda. I'd rather that then go with aftermarket parts that might have the same fitment or look.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 3 lety +1

      If a two year old did it, it would have a rocket on the back of it. I'm guessing 6-8 year old. They're the ones that go "it's gonna have a big spoiler and another spoiler, and fins!". But even still, it's amazing to drive.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 2 lety

      Haha, are you suggesting I sold out on CZcams? If I'm reading that correctly, you couldn't be further from accurate. I make a $50 a month from it, trust me when I say in no way did CZcams help me pay for anything in my life. And as far as the Civic, I thought it was a fun car to drive for what it was. Didn't know it was made in Germany though, so if that's true, that's surprising, but I'll have to look into that.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 2 lety

      You couldn't be more wrong buddy. I receive a $100 check every two months if I'm lucky. I've never had a single sponsorship, not one free part or cash for anything. My average view count on a new video is 250-1500 at best. The most I ever received was when two of my videos got pushed by CZcams, even then, I saw maybe $500 in one shot over a year ago. As for selling out, not even close. Short of becoming more comfortable on camera and improving my editing technique, I've not shifted from my style one bit. No flashy music or crap editing, no click bait titles, just the style I've always brought to my channel. I literally met Will, who owned the car, asked him if he'd let me drive it on camera, and he said yes. This video is the result of hanging for a few hours. Not sure where the attitude on your end comes from, if you don't like the car, I respect that, but don't knock my approach or opinion if you don't have all the facts. I'm open and honest about everything I do on my channel. Plus I'm an IT guy, I saved my money and made the bad decision of dumping $20k into my Subaru. I only wish someone paid me to get the work done. If you know someone who wants to pay me, by all means, let me know who that is.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 2 lety

      Bro, I don't know how many different ways to tell you you're wrong. This Civic video currently has under 2k views, I've literally received $2.38 since posting it for the 20 hours of editing and work I put into it. Nobody nowhere is paying me anything. If there was a sponsor, I'd have to mention that in the posting. I'm not doubting that you get how it should work, but that's not how it's working for me. I'm almost at the point of giving up on the channel because it's giving me zero return. I like the car, it drives great but looks silly, that's the end of it.
