Vehicles with 37s that continually spin wheels in ruts rather than winch straightaway are making it nearly impassable for lesser diameter tyred vehicles. 🙈☹️
I’ve never known of a standard dual cab on 32’s etc. to even go near Willematte it’s a play area for comp trucks haha, it’s not a site seeing track like climies etc. so in a place like that they actually helped because the ruts are made by 40’s, so I take a little off the top with 37’s then Tyler takes the next bit off with his 35’s. 🤘🏻
With so much winching I wouldn't turn the car off, I would have it at high idle when stopped and let the battery get charge for the next pull.
I remember a fella years ago that thought he blew his gearbox. Called me up to recover him, but it turned out the transfer had just popped into neutral. He felt like a goose, but it was a better outcome than a blown gearbox

Ned and Cazz, back in the late 70s I worked in seismic oil search, and the standard vehicle was a Landcruiser ute. It was a common practical joke to put the transfer case in neutral when you jumped out of a vehicle because 9 times out of 10, someone else would jump in to move it up the seismic line.
That’s a prank we pull on our mates , they go to pay for fuel and we slip the 4wd selector into N… really shows if the driver knows his vehicle or not

Some of these tracks in tassie now you need 40-inch tyres. 35 and 37s are too small a tyre on some tracks. The tracks down the Huon are epic. We did a one run was on supposed to track an hour 5 hours later we were still on it lol. That last track you were on is also known as the water track it's epic when flooded lol. Great video. 👍
At the beginning mostly of the tracks were available for almost everyone... Now you need minimum 37s and it seems all those tracks are not maintained, so it is a bit frustrating because you need huge tyres (more money to spend on) and if you don't use them you can't enjoy the same tracks anymore. Unfair.
@@ViDiazears & years & years ago, I think you get the idea, only 31 & 32 were available on 15" rims. The beauty of it was though, everyone did track maintenance because we were all equivalent, fixed for one, fixed for all.
Tyre sizes have become the scourge of track maintenance and the worst part is, if this occurs in N/P and the ranger can't get his std truck thru for daily inspections etc, well the go now days is just lock down the track, buggering it for all.
I implore all of us to maintain tracks, it's in our interest to do so.
Stories of old, link vehicles together with "A" frames, put a blade on initial truck push through and resurrect track surfaces for all to enjoy.
Mind you, countable plod would take a pretty dim view of "A" frame strapped to bull bar now days. In the 80s we'd get away with it. Had an "A" frame on my Hilux as It was also a easy way to clear two vehicles thru a short abrupt obstacle, pivot "A" frame down, link to tow bar of front vehicle, send lead vehicle in, rear vehicle pushes them thru, then front vehicle pulled rear vehicle thru. Bloody catapillar effect.

I find that with these full on tracks it’s best to travel with at least one Cruiser. 100, 200 whatever really
Got quite stressed and tired half way through the recovery. Had to take a nap.

I think you need a 4wd with a wheel in the middle of the front and rear axle to tackle the deep ruts. Or 42's and portals.

That’s Judbury for you, bad things happen out there - I’ve had my car breakdown badly out there and have had mates total their cars out there. Heard stories from park rangers about people getting killed out there as well. It’s a bad and lawless place

Dispite what most mainlanders believe it does get hot in Tassie during summer, it's not unusual lol, it can be 23 and feel stinging hot different type of heat there. People whom visit tassie in summer are always shocked..wow it actually gets is hot here 🤣

My vote would be the clutch
l am going to take a stab that Tim's GQ has a Cruiser transmission as that would explain the Yota badge. l have no idea why the Navara badge is there,,,,, the only good thing on Navara's are the wheel nuts,,,,, perhaps he has those as well!
I stripped the splines on an output shaft in land rover defender towing a 2t trailer of turf in peak hour traffic. Came to an immediate stop on a busy railway crossing. It all turned to shit until a 2wd ute reversed up and hooked up a ratchet strap and pulled me off the tracks/road. Cost me $2k to fix after waiting 6 weeks for the workshop to have time. Turns out the spline is not lubricated at factory install and prone to failure. Indicator was metal dust showing through the weep hole near the bell housing. I feel your pain. Keen to see how you get on!

Could be clutch throw out bearing stuck keeping clutch disengaged.
Happened to my GQ after a bunch of bog holes. Mud covers throw out shaft and bearing carrier jams.
Externally the clutch operation looks fine. Internally throw out carrier jammed against pressure plate.
Na wasn't anything to do with clutch

Probably a bit late but Gu gearboxes have a much nicer synchro in first & second than Gq boxes, put heavier 5 gear input shaft & Marks overdrive 5 and it’s mint 🤠
Probably tour the centre out of your clutch
Check the transfer hasn't slipped into neutral. If not I'm guessing the transfer has blown and not the gearbox.

Your using/thrashing your 4WD well past it’s design parameters. What you need is a Unimog, which would better suit your needs. Your vehicle is obviously inadequate for these tracks.
