  • Lamproite (Diamond Ore) Paydirt review from the Worthington Diamond Mine Miles from The Crater of Diamonds State Park, where all the gem quality diamonds have been found. All the diamond mines north of the Crater were only producing industrial grade diamonds. Nothing big, nothing fancy. In this video we will look at real Lamproite “diamond ore” from the Crater of Diamonds and see the difference from locals claiming they have diamond mines.

    As a geologist I was surprised to see you potentially dismiss yellow ground weathered lamproite.
    My experience was with kimberlites in southern Africa. The weathered kimberlite was close to that colour, and beneath that was fresh 'blue ground' unweathered kimberlite.
    Perhaps ask supplier to confirm precisely what they are sampling and sending? Gravels adjacent to washed weathered material would be good to sift through indeed!

    My Son and I used to prospect in Colorado on Clear creek and get lots of garnets with our heavies. I now live in Arkansas and wondering if I could sluice for diamonds? Diamonds are heavier than garnets right? Thx for the videos!
    Cheers

    • @DiamondMinerIvins
      @DiamondMinerIvins  Před 3 lety +1

      No garnets are heavier I heard. That’s why it’s a good indicator to have them while at the crater. But maybe a diamond is heavier. I would have to ask the professor Miss Shirley Strawn 5th generations diamond miner. She might have an idea lol
      I wouldn’t waste my time with a sluice. The sacruahaha is the best tool after classifying the material and getting all the mud out

    Always been curious as to how they extract diamonds from ore?! Obviously with gold we just crush and pan, but you can't crush diamond ore right?

    • @DiamondMinerIvins
      @DiamondMinerIvins  Před 3 lety +2

      Lamproite can be crushed since it’s a very brittle mineral. Kimberlite might not be the same. Since it’s a lot harder mineral, with diamonds, garnets, other minerals still attached.

    Could there be a diamond inside the lamporite?

    • @DiamondMinerIvins
      @DiamondMinerIvins  Před 2 lety

      Since this area was over 4000° and with so much pressure and force, most of the diamonds were melted to nothing. The ones that made it got locked in with the gravel. The early mining companies averaged one diamond every 4 tons of Lamproite. Not good odds working Lamproite.

    Wish I had seen this before I placed an order. This stuff is hard to work with. I like to order sapphire paydirt and have had some good luck so I thought I'd try diamond mining. I knew the odds were against me but I didn't know the odds were zero. If this is dirt it is awfully hard to breakup. I bought this 6 months ago. I gave up on it and covered it with water and let it set.
    It is still hard to break up and after seeing your video I don't think it's worth continuing. On Worthingtons site he posts totals of diamonds found at the crater of diamonds but never what was found at his mine.
    I'm not sure who the bigger fool is, me for buying a box of dirt or him for spending millions on a non-mine.
