How does an electrostatic field arise? Part 1: Where do I start?

  • When comparing the work done to charge a conductive and a dielectric sphere with the same amount of charge, it was striking that there is an additional part of the work done to charge them, the same in both cases and related to the space around it. This led me to wonder how an electrostatic field arises.
    Because the way an electrostatic field appears is not considered in classical electromagnetism and because I am not an expert in quantum electrodynamics, before looking for my explanation, I decided to consult with what was closest to my reach: ChatGPT.
    IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, DON'T WORRY- I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND IT EITHER. But it served to begin a journey combining reasoning with consultations with AI that allowed me to explain it at least qualitatively without entering into the complex mathematics of quantum mechanics.

      Gracias por tu comentario. Al menos a mi, este tema me está llevando a comprender cómo son necesarios resultados de la mecánica cuántica para explicarlos. Faltan unos cuantos videos hasta llegar a un final. Espero no defraudarlos.
