  • This video is about Ariana Grande's recent look in her new Tiktok video. Ariana Grande's fans are concerned with how thin ariana looks and if she has possibly had more plastic surgery that went wrong. In this video I give my opinion on Arianas new look and any possible plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures she may have had.

As a nurse, there is absolutely no way this is “normal/healthy” weight loss. I understand if she wants privacy but for her to imply that her appearance isn’t concerning & is “the healthiest she’s been” is dangerous. Years ago she lost weight & she said it was bc she went vegan & she was very small but her weight still matched her frame. Some people are naturally very small & underweight. But the way her body looks now, it’s clear to me there’s something CLEARLY going on which is 100% none of my business. My comment isn’t to bash her but to anyone seeing this, this is NOT healthy or normal! Please don’t try to achieve the same look! It is very harmful, extreme, and dangerous!

Well said. I kind of have the same body type as her so I know that's definitely not healthy to look like Ari now, whether it's intentional or not. So it's kind of not right for her to say this is her healthy look and nothing's going on. You definitely got to cut down on your diet to have that look.

Her whole look recently seems to be channelling an anorexic ballerina (very plain strappy tops with her hair pulled back) and she is doing her makeup in a way that makes her look pale and washed out. Her whole look in her tic tok video saying don't worry about me is just bizarre. It just kind of seems like a cry for help despite her saying the opposite. Hope she can find some peace and takes care of herself.

And she has a warm undertone and the blonde makes her look more yellow than she is. It‘s just not a good color for her AT ALL. I was really worried about her and she told me not to be, and that she is much happier now and has a healthy relationship with food. A year or so later she almost died because of her eating disorder. She's healthy now, but we talked about it recently and looking back, she said that the red flag was actually when she overcompensated by saying how amazing she was and making her pre-ED body seem "unhealthy," which tricked me and others into thinking she actually was okay and that I should be happy for her and think it's an upgrade from her "sadder" "unhealthier" self prior to the ED.

as someone who was (unfortunately) involved in online ED circles for my entire adolescence, she definitely has disordered eating. Especially in the early edtumblr days she was *that girl*. she would post pictures very obviously highlighting her thigh gap (it would be the focus of the picture) and that's such a symbol in those communities. I remember her showing off her "ed bracelet" (basically each color represented a different ED) and hers was red. She would post her meals on Snapchat and it would consist of raw veggies and water. Taking a peek back into those communities now, they are OBSESSED with her new frail "ballerina core" underweight aesthetic. I also think she has an obsession with looking very doll/childlike which is very common with ED sufferers. I know I struggled with that. it's one thing to simply look like that, but when you come out saying this is "the healthiest you've ever been" almost angers me. the whole video sounded very faux-body positivity and condescending to people who were rightfully worried. I have suffered too but I wouldn't come out and tell my millions of fans that this is what my healthiest looks like while I was underweight.

I had a neighbor who died from anorexia recently. She would walk up and down the stairs for at least 8 hours a day and was so thin you could see her eye sockets and she had severe skin issues due to the loss of all nutrients. I personally did not know her but I just wish that I spent 1 hour getting to know her and trying to get her help. I feel guilty that we all saw this coming but we didn't step up to say something. Ariana isn't as thin or has as many visible issues but she certainly isn't at a BMI that most health professionals would recommend. She is under a severe amount of scrutiny but I hope someone close to her who she trusts can take care of her.

I'm so sorry about your neighbor. 😥 Please don't blame yourself! I guarantee you that countless people tried to help her, but one of the saddest things about the disease of anorexia is, a lot of times, the people who have it can't accept that they're ill. It's the same for addiction. Since childhood, I've spent countless years (along with others) trying to get people help who needed it, but most of the time, they couldn't accept it. That's how it is most of the time. I'm not saying we shouldn't do what we can to help, but we must realize that a major part of these diseases is the lack of ability to see that there's a problem, even when doctors, family, friends, strangers, and employers tell you there is.

Over 15 years ago I went through a bad break up and barely ate for a month due to the emotional distress. Once I was emaciated (not by choice, in the beginning), I began to intentionally watch my calories and under-eat to stay thin. I think psychologically it gave me a sense of control. If I couldn't control who loved me, I could control what I ate and how my body looked. I have long since recovered from that disordered eating, but I wonder if this same sort of psychology occurs with people dealing with trauma or things they can't control in their life. They can feel in control of their eating and body weight.

As a former anorexic, there is nothing you could have done to help her, really. Like addicts, we have to make the decision by ourselves, for ourselves. The disease is a sickness of the mind that presents itself physically. You can't so easily change a person's mind. Anorexia requires you to basically brainwash yourself into starvation, and it just isn't so easily undone. I'm so sorry to hear of the loss. It's a tragic disease with a very high mortality rate. I was lucky that I pulled myself out of it when I did, I could see my muscle wasting away and I was losing so much strength. But I tell you, even after I made the decision to get better and start gaining back weight, it was a very difficult road back to health. Just because you want to eat, doesn't mean eating is easy. It was stressful, anxiety inducing, I would even say traumatic. A very serious illness.

Here is my take. Mental health is complicated . I was binge eating and heavier when I was depressed and happier when I was undereating but neither of those things were me at my "healthiest". I think she is saying some very true things about "assumptions" and her "heavier weight" may be someone else's lightest weight so I do believe her about the over eating and drinking at those points in her life. Regardless of this she is still very underweight. Even during her wedding she was very thin, she's disappearing.
I've had a lot of friends with eating disorders , they were in a lot of denial and would have done or said anything to "stay thin" I do think we need to listen to her words about mental health because I think the world has gotten very self centered and critical. We have a long way to go. The sad thing is (and this is just an opinion) I don't think people would be shaming her as much if the blonde was flattering. I think because she looks not as "pretty" as she did with her brown hair that people are noticing her thin-ness.
I think lots of people would glorify and support her weightless if she didn't look so washed out. We live in a sad world. I hope she gets the help she needs and that young girls don't follow suit. We can’t simply dismiss conversations and questions about others’ appearances as automatically being mean spirited or rude - especially when, like you said, those questions come from a place of love and concern. We HAVE to be able to have discussions about unhealthy and/or unrealistic appearances and beauty standards, especially when those appearances are so obvious, but we’re told to ignore it OR we’re gaslit by being told there’s nothing to discuss and everything is fine. Fully disagree with this. Not necessarily for Ariana since we know nothing about her physical health besides her frame. However, many people are complimented on their look when they're actually at their worst, this is especially prominent in naturally thin people as they may gain weight with bad lifestyle choices, that doesn't make them healthy though. Alternatively, someone may be somewhat overweight before getting sick and losing weight, these people get compliments about their weight loss, questioning how they did and how they should keep it up, yet it's only because they got sick that they lost weight. You really cannot at all tell a person's health from the way they look, which is exactly what Ariana was trying to say in her video.

I agree that it is asking too much for fans not to show concern in relation to her body and talk about it when her body and looks are her brand. You can't control your fans to that degree, but it seems from this she is feeling out of control, and thus going to great lengths to control her looks, her weight and now, what her fans can and can't say. It is a form of trying to manipulate, and I'm not saying that to insinuate she's a bad person, just not well, it seems. She's always been obsessed with control. Remember her fixation with only being photographed on one side of her face, chasing photographers to delete pics of the other side. The constant use of filters. Yes, ED’s are a symptom of obsessive compulsive disorder. Ppl who don’t feel in control in their lives use weight loss, food deprivation, calorie counting etc to make themselves regain that feeling of control. That’s how they become addicted. It’s also why you can’t force someone out of an ED bc that loss of control is very traumatizing. She has to decide for herself if she wants to stop it but she hasn’t faced reality yet.

I completely agree. I think by being a person who chooses to be in the spotlight you open yourself to attention and when the tide turns its not fair or pleasant to think of someone dealing with that especially when they are dealing with their own personal human issues. But it's the double edged sword that everyone famous deals with and there's not any way to say this without sounding unpleasant but Ariana has enjoyed success, adulation, praise and superstardom, and so like every other singer actor and celebrity before her she has to now navigate this because that's the price you pay by default.
I really do hope she gets better and I hope the best for her because to come through this will make her stronger.
I myself am a naturally slim guy and when I've been healthy I am strong and look okay as that's my natural frame but I have to work at it just as that's my metabolism.
However in the past I've been very thin at one point through not taking care of myself and being in a very low place personally, emotionally, financially, and so my health reflected that, and I could see a big change losing what I couldn't afford to lose... and at one point I swear couldn't even take a bath without having a strange pain from lying in it as the back of my thighs would hurt thats how skinny I got.... and I crawled my way back to health.
I've had covid and stuff a few times since and dropped weight but never THAT much again and it's truly a sorry state to be so thin.
You don't look good or feel attractive or even like a whole person so I say this to comment from my own reflection on my own times I've struggled and to make the point that I just wouldn't ever ridicule someone going through their own.
Life is a journey and to become so famous and Work on her talent and overcome things I know she is a strong person and she can totally get better but as someone who's been low I can see she's dealing with all this publicly
It's something she can't change. The publicity I mean. And to expect a pass because she doesn't like it kind of tells me she still has to face up to some aspects of that on top of everything else so God Bless her and I pray she gets to a well place because she really looks undernourished and unhealthily skinny and that - if she doesn't overcome that Will have a severe effect on her health emotionally physically and mentally...but she can do this so I really wish her that from one person to another ❤️
Lorry you were very kind and empathetic as always so I think you said exactly the right things here and it is what needed to be said, even if its not the PC thing to speak out these days

Her making this only about her thinness is blasphemous. She’s naturally small so it’s not too much of a shock. Her weight loss is obviously highlighting her previous surgeries & that’s expected. The issue is, at one point she was overly tanning. Then she was trying to align herself with Japanese culture whilst blatantly denying it. Now she’s both acting & speaking VERY different. I just saw a video she was speaking in & couldn’t believe my ears. It was very bizarre. All of these things combined makes me very concerned.

thank you for addressing this lori! just as an FYI because i‘ve seen several comments on here misquoting the tiktok: ariana never claimed to be at her healthiest right now. what she said and what has been greatly misunderstood is that what people are comparing her current look to was a very unhealthy version of herself, when she was on antidepressants and drinking (personally, i‘m assuming she is referring to 2018-2019, as that was an incredibly hard period for her). those are two very different statements!
she further pointed out that people who have an issue usually already know and are working on it. also said repeatedly that you never know what someone is going through. it‘s hard to address/communicate what you‘re going through *when* you‘re going through it and in the thick of it, so i do understand where she‘s coming from when she‘s asking people not to comment on her body as much. it‘s been the only focus of the media on her lately, and if she is in recovery, that must not be easy. whether or not that is a reasonable wish for someone in her position is a different question, but i fully believe it is a valid one.

I think there’s a big difference between commenting on something’s bodily appearance and their appearance in clothing/fashion. She’s a natural small person and has always been known for her fashion but that doesn’t mean she wants comments about her body (positive or negative). I’m not commenting at all on the state of her health because that’s not my place to say but I can say from personal experience that I’d much rather have comments made about how I choose to style myself than how my body looks. Sometimes people’s “positive” comments about your body are still critiques. I think it is fair for her to ask for people not to comment on her appearance (in regards to her body) but whether the media or fans will ever respect that request is a different story. None of us know her personally and I think all we can hope for it that if something is wrong that the people who are close to her can help her through that. At the end of the day I don’t think commenting on how “sickly” she looks helps the situation.

Somewhere around season 13 I just started noticing that she looked amazing and I felt sure that she clearly had something done, but whatever it was, it was so subtle and well done that I can't figure out what's different.
