It’s so weird. This song is officially 10 years old, now. It was officially released on January 1st 2013 via Island Recordings. Takes me back to college and the worry I had when dating my friend…who’s now my wife! I was so worried it wouldn’t work out and that I’d lose such a good friend.

From what I can see its based almost entirely on 80's MTV videos, even down to the hairstyles and 'cut jumps'.
We all know that Neon Trees likes them some themes in their videos, and this theme screams "80's pop band".
Yes exactly. That's what caught my attention when I first heard it on the radio. I think it came when it got to the chorus and he sings "ooh ohh, ooh ohh". I'm trying really hard to think of an older song that is relatable, but I probably can't because it's like an amalgamation of everything 80's.
Listen to the song "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit. That song is just like this one, but with an early 90's dance vibe going on.

I got to see Neon Trees in concert at the Dew Tour in Salt Lake a couple years ago.
They're absolutely fantastic live. I had heard a couple of their songs before seeing them at a music festival last fall, but by the time the show was over I had so many songs stuck in my head. So much energy at their shows, it's awesome.
I just saw them live today and it was fun lol. Lots of energy and creativity.
Etienne Adams They played here in Okla. City about six months ago but I had a gig the same night. everyone said it was a great show. I heard the singer caught some flack for " coming out of the closet ". Why would anyone even care about stuff like that anymore ? I salute the gentleman for his art his talent and his being whatever the hell he wants to be. I hope this band is around for a long time. This is some great pop music.

An old Mormon missionary companion of mine told me about Neon Trees. He's no longer in the Churchm, but we're still friends. We discuss and debate and argue like all friends do. I listened and I like his music. He's talented. Very retro. I shared it with some active Mormon Church friends of mine, you'd have thought I'd committed the biggest sin. LOL. Come on now, it's music!

Gotcha. I thought that's what you meant. :) They were a blast. I guess I was a true teen of the 80's. My birthday is the day before New Years Eve....so I turned 11 on the last day of the 70's, and I turned 21 on the last of the 80's. I definitely think it was the best decade cause it was just so damn fun. The clothes and hair were whacked but at the time it was normal!! LOL. And you can't beat the music...the clubs...MTV...everything.

I saw them once before (when they opened for My Chemical Romance). They were staying at the hotel I ended up at. I actually walked to the venue behind them. I was walking and I kept thinking "That dude looks way familiar. The hair." When they walked up behind the theater it finally hit me. Met Tyler later at the hotel (he was making some adjustment to the reservation or something and I was in the lobby microwaving food). I said hi and said how awesome they sounded at the show. He said thanks and asked where I was from. Then we talked about how long bus rides suck (I had taken a bus 17 hours one way to see that show). Then he shook my hand and we parted ways. I saw him and Elaine later too, sitting outside on the sidewalk outside their room while I was getting some fresh air and calming down from the awesomeness of that night. It was a night I'll never forget.
