Which one of these candies would YOU bring back?
Choco'Lite!
Just one?!!? Boy, that's tough...as far as the ones in this video it would be a toss-up between Marathon and Choco-Lite. But since I loooove caramel it would have to be Marathon! And even though I'm a diabetic now, if every candy I loved as a 70s kid were to come back just as they were then (to Hell w/ "reimagined" and "rebooted") I would still buy nonetheless...would just have to be a little more careful is all!
Choco'Lite!
Marathon bar and Summit bar!😀👍
Bonkers, Bar- None, Lifesavers holes, freshener up chewing gum, summit,
I grew up in the 7o and 80s it was the best time to be young
Anyone remember the Charleston Chew bar and Chunky?
Charleston Chew is still around, but limited. The last time I remember seeing them was at dollar stores in a larger Marathon-sized bar before recent inflation kicked in.
I lost my first tooth on a Charleston Chew 😊
Chunky is thickera
You can still get a Chunky.
They still sell both. Saw them at a Cracker Barrel last week.
Let's all take a moment and just appreciate that Zagnut is still in existence.
And the Clark bar
What I've noticed from eating candy bars since the 1970s... they've definitely gotten smaller.
And they TASTE different! Like a waxy aftertaste.
Absolutely!🤨
FINALLY Choco' Lite. I been watching and following channels that upload this kind of content. Not one of them ever mentions Choco' Lite. How I wish they'd bring some of these back. Summit bars were great too.
Omg same here!!! Nobody remembers that candybar and it was soooo good.
❤ same - agreed 💯🥰💯!!!
I LOVED Summit candy bars!!!!!! Mmmmm....
A chocolate mousse candy bar.
@@tgish1 I Loved Choco Lite
I like the bottle caps,
fun dip wacky packs
The marathon bar was my favorite!
The Marathon bar’s chocolate popped off when you bit it.
Anyone remember the 7up chocolate bar with 7 different inside tastes like nugget, caramel, mint, strawberry,
Loved those candy bars!
I lived in the same city that made them. They were the best, they were on Pearson's sign for YEARS after they stopped making them.
Yes i think u still can find it but it is called sky bars
Yes! I was beginning to think I'd imagined it! The coconut part was gross to me, but loved the rest. Like a chocolate assortment in a bar. Never popular.
@sharonrusso1191 I had a Sky Bar a few years ago. Similar concept, but not the same thing.
Bring back Choco'Lite candy bar. It's been way too long ago! Best candy bar ever!
Absolutely, this generation doesn't have the slightest idea what a good candy bar was💯😎🥰!
They WERE AWESOME!!! Bring 'em back PLZ!!!
Looks like you used the American Marathon bar footage along with footage from the UK's Marathon bar, which is our Snickers. I loved both bars, but I miss that laced chocolate covered caramel bar.
Always loved the long braided chocolate & caramel bar Marathons. Sugar Daddy’s were good too.
ChocoLite, BarNone, and Marathon Bar(the braided chocolate covered caramel bar). Those three I would love to see come back, I loved those when I was growing up.
What about the 10:30 bar? Zots? Milkshake? Man, the 70s was the Golden Age for so many things: music, cars, clothes, food, and...candy!!! I was born in 1970 and it was a great time to be kid, a great time to be alive but unfortunately I didn't get to be an adult then (I had to to wait til the 90s when things started to suck). But yeah, I remember my sister and I would go to the drug store w/ a dollar or so and come back w/ a brown bag full of candy. Wouldn't trade that for anything! 70s forever!!!!
Zots are still around
❤ Same here. It was the best!!
Yes the milkshake bar was delicious
Penny Candy, you could fill your bag cheap. Collecting and trading bubble gum baseball cards. Loved and miss these retro candies, chocolate bars, gum and treats. Wish they'd bring them back.
The little colored malted milk balls were my favorite and, the sweet- tart necklaces and, when, they came out with the bracelets! Yeah, the first thing at Easter one of the first things, I want to go grab and put in the cart is the multicolored Polk- a-dot malted milk balls!
Does anyone remember ROTHSCHILDS toffee candies?
Those were divine!!!!!!
Freshen up gum!!! Was cool! Chunky still around here in Kalamazoo Michigan lol! Choco lite i miss!
I still buy Wacky Wafers as they still make them and sold to retro candy stores! It's nice to know that you still can buy a candy from your childhood.🍓🍊🍌🍉
I couldn't find Wacky Wafers last time I looked... where do you get them?
@@pelqel9893 I found them in a retro candy store in Rockport, Mass called the General Store on Bearskin Neck! Love thar store! Has a wall of retro candies from back in the day!
I think the boy in the Reggie Bar commercial clip was Philip McKeon, who played Tommy Hyatt on the TV show “Alice” (anyone remember that show besides me?)
Well kiss my gritts, I sure do. I don't think that was him but they do look alike. Rip phillip.
Bun and Goo goo cluster bars were just like the Reggie bar!!
Why the Marathon bar shown as the braided thing and as a Snickers?
Good eye there! Whoever edited the video together got confused. In the UK back then, their Marathon Bar was the same as our Snickers. Our Marathon Bar was (and still is) a Curly Wurly Bar. Whoever edited this didn't pay too close attention to what was in those clips, because quite a few were for the UK Marathon Bar. FWIW the UK changed their Marathon Bar name to Snickers in 1990.
Remember in the 70's when we had candy stores ?
Bring back the chocolight candy bar
Try Aero bars they taste just like choco lite!!
Remember the PowerHouse candy bar?
One of my favorites
My alltime favorite. I believe it ran from the early seventies through the late eighties. By Peter Paul Candies.
Summit bars were divine! I used to buy them at the concession stand at the summer day camp I attended in 1979.
My favorite candy bar was "Milkshake"..lthey were great and putting them in the fridge made them even better! Sure miss them
Candy cigarettes were fun.
I miss the 70's
Me too
Awesome video! I have been waiting to see a video like this for a LONG time! Love seeing videos about vintage candy from the past!
OMG I remember all of these!!
And I do want them back
HOW? How could you forget the Mars Bar? It should have ben at the TOP of the list!!!
I’m curious if the departure of these candies left a void?
I haven’t thought about Dynamints in years. I used to love those.
I remember when the 100 grand bar was the $100,000 bar
Where those chocolate bars back then less sweet than they are today? I can't eat one today without it make my heart race, and leave this sickly sweet aftertaste.
I would say yes. And, back then they were made with real sugar, not high fructose corn syrup like today.
Bar None. How did I forget. My favorite for a very long time!
Alot of these candies, Lifesavers holes was only in the 90"s, bonkers, PB max and Reggie were 80s candies
I was looking for this comment.
Great stuff.
The gum comercial at 17:07 was actually advertising a different brand called "Hubba Bubba" just introduced in the 70s. Their claim was you could blow double the size bubbles and they won't stick to your face. The comercial was set in the west as someone announced "ut oh, there's gunna be a gum fight". Two "gum fighters" would square off, start blowing a bubble, one would pop first and stick to their face, since the other's bubble was bigger, it would pop last, then they would remove the gum with no problem or mess. I remember squaring off with my friends trying to act out the commercials. 😂
Choco' Lite and Summit Bars. My favorites. I want them back.
I want the CHUNKY Block Bar back to its Original bigger size. Summit was good too 👍🏾
There was that gum that had a liquid center. Can't remember the name of it. It was pretty big around 1977. You bit into it and the liquide would explode out of it.
That gum was called "SQUIRT" and was advertised as the gum that goes "squirt" !
@@drbluzer ah ok. Thanks. Kind of miss it.
Also, Freshen Up gum had a liquid center.
Didn't he mention those squirty gums?
If you miss the Marthon braided candy bar.... look to Cadbury's Curly Wurly on which it was based... still available if you have a British imports store in your city
Oh Henry! and Rally bars are two candy bars that I no longer see. I did see Oh Henry! bars twenty years ago at a gas station, but I lost my sweet tooth too long ago to try it.
Some of these I don't remember. And I was there!
Me Too !
Do you remember the candy cigarettes? My dad wouldn't let us buy them though!😂
Some of this stuff actually came out in the late 80s/early 90s, like PB Max and Bar None
I remember being Super young and the Marathon bar was my favorite treat to get at the store.
Chocolite was later reshaped and named Aero by Nestle as they took out the 'crispy chips' that some complained about but others enjoyed. They even made a mint chocolate version that was excellent. It can be found online at some retro candy shops or amazon.
wacky wafers and tart & tinys, those are the two I remember.
would bring back both of those.
Candy under a buck?? Musta been from the last century 😳😳😱🤯!
What about Chunky! That was my favourite that my dad always used to buy me. It had a unique texture, just a thick chocolate square that I miss SO MUCH!
Bring back the SloPoke caramel suckered! They lasted forever!❤
@SusieAnd...SloPoke suckers!
Like Sugar Daddy and Sugar Mama suckers. We used to eat some and then put it in the "icebox". It lasted for days!😂
Marathon bars, Dynamints, and Fortune Gum Rocked !
I remember all of these from the dime store near Grandma's house
Remember the candy necklace?😄
But several of those Marathon bars weren't braided and looked exactly like Snickers
loved the marathon rally bar
Choco'lite = Aero. Dynamints = Tic Tacs
Yeah, Hershey’s had one out several years ago but, long gone before the pandemic but, not as creamy as the Choco- Lite!
I personally prefer No Jelly, peanut butter and crispy rice covered in chocolate. It was made by Peter Paul.
P.B. Max was from the 90s. Bar None was from the 90s, too.
Yes! Just looked this up because I thought I was going crazy.
Bar None was out before the 90s, it was out in the late 70s!
Go to Old Time Candy!! Lots of stuff from back in the day and I’ve never been disappointed!!!
Oh, Marathon bars were really good.
I miss Wacky Wafers the most.
Used to get them at the snack stand when I played little league ball. That and a stick of Big Bubba bubble gum. After every inning, I'd pull it out of my back pocket and take a chomp. By the end of the game I had a huge wad of gum in my mouth and a sore jaw😂
Why did he keep calling Gatorade (pronounced Gātorgüm), Gahtorgoom?
You keep confusing the American Marathon bar wth the British Marathon (later Snickers) bar.
OMGosh! Thank you for clearing that up!!!! I wondered why it looked SO different in the shots on the video!!! Plus you can still get Marathon bars- they sell by Cadbury and they have a new name- Curly Wurly!!!
@@t2delan1 I love curly wurlys!
Marathon bars!
The candy back then was better than it is now,, the stuff today is horrible.
We have great candy, you just are not going to get it in a gas station.
I miss the Hershey's Rally bar from the early 70s
My mother was born in the 1970's
M&M Sprint bar!!!!!😮🥰
Marathon still exists. It’s called curly wurly. Can find usually in British specialty stores
They’re not the same. I ordered some from England years ago. The Curly Wurly is much smaller, and the caramel is hard. It was disappointing.
Isn't that Philip McKeon in the Reggie bar commercial... gotta be.
I was thinking the same thing!
Definitely was not him, it was Tanner from the movie "The Bad news Bears"
Growing up in Calgary, I miss Macintosh's toffee. You would stick it in the freezer to harden, slam it on the counter and it would break into smaller chewable pieces. yum yum. Don't know if it is still sold there.
I want Kraft fudgies back, they had the gold foil around them
Saw those recently at a gas station in Traverse City, Michigan!! They’re around 😮😅
I totally forgot about them!
Only, they keep switching between the Marathon bar of the 70s (braided chocolate and caramel), and a different bar called Marathon that came later that had chocolate and peanuts that was more like Snickers.
I had a marathon bar everyday when i was pregnant with my first child and whats funny she hates chocolate always did and shes 45 years old lol i guess i ate one to many lol
Cosmic Candy was the pop rocks like I remember most!
I haven't seen Nutter-Butter
for a long time.
I want one!!!
Marathon bar. Just don't stretch the caramel too much cuz all the chocolate would flake off
NO! The original bar none did not have caramel. The 2nd version did. I'm very passionate about this. Fave candy bar of all time😂😭😩
Gatorgum, Gottergum, Gattergoom... all of these things.
Fruit Strip Gum, Uno Bars, Bubble Yum, Cinnamon flavor square shaped suckers, Red Hots Jaw Breakers, Pixie Stix, Big Hunk, Sugar Babies........
You seem to have missed Wacky Packages... Sigh.
Life saver Holes candy came out in 1990 and was canceled in 1991
OH YEA!!!!!!!!😂
There are 3 candy bars from the 70s I wish they would bring back. The Nestles Chocolate Bar and the Nestles Chocolate Almond Bar. They both beat the Hersheys bars by a country mile. The other one is the Butternut Candy Bar. I thought that it was much better than Snickers, and that it too won by a country mile.
To summarize: chocolate, caramel and peanuts
And another one i miss from childhood is the monster movie card u got 5 cards and bubblegum all for 10 cents
Starbase is still available in some stores that have a British section in their International Aisle.
The Tart n Tinys look like the SweetTarts chewy bites they have. I'm eating them now and they're really good
Gotter Gum? REally?
0:49 features Hollywood legend John Wayne's son Patrick Wayne (Patrick John Morrison).
Yep. Known fact. That was the Duke’s boy
PBMax and Choco’Lite are the only ones I’d actually buy today if they were available.
Clark candy bars
I like the marathon bar and zero bar.
Walmart has zero bar
What about Peter Paul Peanut Butter and no Jelly and Powerhouse?
I liked the caravel bar more than the 100,000 bar.
Forget the Reggie bar. I hated it as a kid. Oh and I'm a Dodger fan. LOL.
Summit marathon candy bars pop rocks
You kept showing a Snickers bar during the 1st segment. Marathon bar! The smaller one is a snickers bar!
Half of these candies are 80s and 90s candies. Other candies have more than one product with the same name and they were both used in the same entry and niether was described correctly. The lack of research is disappointing.
