Sweet Potato Casserole

- This buttery-sweet casserole is a winner!
Ingredients: 29 oz. can sweet potatoes (drained)
½ cup light brown sugar
1 egg (beaten)
¼ cup butter (melted)
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
TOPPING
½ cup light brown sugar
¼ cup flour
1 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup butter (melted)
Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes - Zábava

That's SO true, Ken....one day---the people we take for granted for being in our lives and cooking delicious holiday meals---will not be there, and so, it's up to us to have the recipes to be able to continue traditions and create memories for future generations. Keep ALL the recipes on file---you never know who'll want something that's new and different to them.

What you said about recipes from your mom, it is so true. My mom was a fabulous cook and when she went to Heaven, I looked forward to her recipes. Unfortunately, the 4 recipe boxes were taken by a family friend who was helping me pack up the house. Of course, she denied taking them. I do have a couple recipes from my mom, but I’m still devastated by all the recipes I’ll never get back. Thank you for this recipe...it’s very close to my mom’s (I do remember she added a splash of OJ). This will be gracing our Thanksgiving table!

what you gonna wanna do is boil a lot of yams, mash it up good, sprinkle chopped pecans on top with a layer of marshmallows. Oh and throw a stick of butter in them taters.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving! I’m going to try this as a test run for the holidays but maybe use cooked fresh sweet potatoes instead.(I don’t like canned ones). Each year I never seem to do them consistently according to my niece. Likely because I throw the basics together without thinking of amounts. Too sweet...not sweet enough. Maybe this recipe will work and then I’ll have a go to recipe.
