How Reagan leaves Statler runs parallel to Rand trying everything to get Tomiko back and goes to show she is not her father at all. Rand would risk the universe to get what he wants while Reagan was willing to sacrifice her happiness for the person she loves. Was sad at the break up T_T

Another reason to cry about Reagan and Ron: The final episode goes full circle to the first episode when Ron says that Reagan doesn’t understand what it’s like to erase someone’s memory and be the only one that has to live with them. I think the point of her friends flaking out on the mission is to prove that the Robes are right, Reagan is the only one that can see the bigger picture. This was shown by the Robes' examples of human history where her friends are portrayed as idiots that need a leader and she's that leader. So, while those events do negatively effect their characters, it still works thematically.

Brett is a truly amazing friend to Reagan, even more so this season. He suggested that she attend AA which is how she met Statler and learned to come to terms with Rand being in charge. He saved her when JR tried to change reality and he even brought the team back together. He covered for her when the anomalies needed to be fixed so she'd have the chance to spend a day with Statler. He was even willing to shoulder the burden of being a solo leader if it meant Reagan had a chance to live a happy and healthy life. On another hand, Reagan pushed Brett to be better than what he thought he could be and she never doubted him, even when he had some fumbles.

I actually think it’s realistic and in some way therapeutic even when the team abandoned Reagan when their individual benefits are at risk. It shows you how it’s 100% possible that your friends bail on you even when it’s a crucial moment in your life, and that sometimes only you yourself can fix your problem. There’s the freedom of choice for everyone in the world, and them choosing what’s in their best interests don’t necessarily mean you’re not friends with them, rather that you haven’t reached that intimacy. Even Reagan herself eventually understood that and let Brett go for that. Really stopped my self-loathing to some extent as I was frequently thinking why people around me don’t have my back… but that’s just me

Inside Job made a really compelling love story. Most shows the romance is the weakest area but it was very balanced. It wasn’t shown as perfect, sometimes Reagan was in the wrong, sometimes Statler wasn’t perfect, but they worked on it together. Sometimes you want things to work out with someone but it takes real character growth to realize you’re the toxic one in the relationship. It is the complete opposite of Rand and Tamiko‘s relationship which comes off as more vain. I think the ending was meant to show the character growth of both Reagan and Brett.

The Reagan and Ron stuff felt like it fit completely. We needed that (however sad) development for Reagan’s character, and that wholesomeness added with Ron. We had wholesomeness in S1 with Brett and Reagan becoming friends, and now that they are established bffs, theres less stuff to work with in regards to the fluff that is needed in a dark comedy to balance it out. Ron was a great fit, lovable, sweet, and caring with no ulterior motives. But… I feel like Reboot was put in because they needed that action sequence for the climax and falling action of the season. A lot of aspects of Reboot fit into the story, but it felt really rushed. I agree it needed way more foreshadowing, and I honestly think the entire season would’ve benefitted from being an episode or two longer.

      1. The paths were mutually exclusive, working with the shadow government was the only way Reagan would be able to influence the world with her genius, but Statler was sick and tired of the shadow government and wanted away from it entirely. There was no way for Reagan to both simultaneously be in a loving relationship with Statler and improve the world for everyone with her intelligence. Ultimately it would incredibly selfish of Reagan to choose to live a normal life with Statler in Appleton, while it is obviously tragic, it shows Reagan as selfless character willing to sacrifice her happiness for the betterment of the human race, knowing damn well that Brett wouldn't be well suited to run Cognito, and that no one else would be either. No one has the mix of genius understanding, and will to do what Reagan will as the CEO of Cognito to benefit the world. I definitely think things could've been stretched out a bit longer but Ultimately Reagan is the main character and there was no world where Statler could remain a character for that long, since it's established fairly early in season 2 that Statler is sick of being a part of the shadow government.
      2. Yeah didn't expect Brett to get so much character work this season, it's really impressive to see how much he has grown but I do hope Air-bud doesn't become a real problem later in the show like Robot Reagan (It's totally gonna become a problem, both of them) But it is a little sad they focused so much on airbud during that final episode since it feels like that episode was wasted on a punchline of "Now there is a rule that dogs cannot play basketball"

honestly it can be seen that the show was meant to end of season 2 (initially the show was intended for only 2 parts) and then netflix saw how good it did and is pushing it for a 3rd season, indeed the whole project reboot was added out of nowhere and the build up of last episode itself was leaning towards an ending, Brett was already confident enough to handle the team and it is very explicit that raegan does not wants to keep workign at cognito (the scene of her overdues, her finger and her pills reflect this). So sad that the show did not finished then, Raegan deserved that happy ending.

Well I’m glad you enjoyed the show I guess. But for me 😢 even though it doesn’t feel rushed I feel like there should have been more episode this season to make us see the chemistry between Reagan and Ron before essentially killing him off and expecting us to be emotional for Reagan. The reboot project was also out of nowhere, I think it would have been better if there’s more build up to It

Overall this season was great but its canonical events feel rushed. the episodical adventures are great but hopefully the canonnicity gets some improvement soon. it feels like the staff might be scared that thier project will be scrapped by Netflix thus ended up kinda rushing certain events but since s2 has been met with positive feedback too, hopefully they can get proper reassurance that the show is here to stay which i hope it does

I really loved Season 2, but aside From Reagan, Gigi, and Brett, I feel like the rest of the main group didn't contribute that much, which makes them seem more selfish during the finale. At least with Gigi, they established several times during the first and second season how she tried so hard to join the Illuminati. Her leaving the group was selfish and not justified, but well explained. Also, I hope this isn't the last we see of Statler. He added so much to the group dynamic and could be given more background and personality in future seasons. Imagine if in the next season, the Robes threaten to harm Ron or his future. It could force Reagan to make hard decisions and could make her question if its even possible for him to leave his former life.

I really enjoyed the relationship being shown and improved more between her and Reagan with giving advice about Ron, and it was so nice to see them get a bit closer. seeing as this batch of episodes is technically a continuation to the first 10 eps, making a full first season. it kinda confuses me to why this second part only had 8 episodes when netflix at the very beginning ordered 20 (which you’d imagine would divide itself into 10 eps for part 1 and part 2) while i’m not sure if those 2 episodes were confiscated in order to spend more on the animation (or just a byproduct of netflix staff shortages in general) i like to think that to a degree even the writers knew that having those extra 2 episodes to flesh things out wouldn’t of been more beneficial towards making this part as good as it could be. (unless those 2 episodes turn out to be standalone holiday specials released later on)
((i ended up on dwelling into this idea more but even though it would be impossible to make it take place in the middle of part 2 on a continuity level if we were to hope it served as additional ron development, if they just used it as an opportunity to develop all characters and their familial relationships i wouldn’t mind at all))

The ending broke my heart, but I don't know if "sacrifice" is the right word to describe it, though the show tries to frame it this way.
It's soul crushing to recognize that your partner would be happier without you, but Reagan didn't seem happy in the timelines where she "had it all" either, due to the strain of trying to balance the relationship and work. Reagan is, fundamentally, very ambitious where Ron seems to want a simpler life. I don't recall them showing a single timeline where Reagan was happy and Ron wasn't. They both seemed unhappy in all the timelines they were together. Ultimately, the choice to seperate was better for both Ron and Reagan.
I guess it could be seen as a sacrifice if you subscribe to the idea that Reagan is fundamentally unhappy in every timeline, and the only difference is sometimes she has Ron, but I don't think the writers were going for that. (And I don't want to believe that for poor Reagan.)
I feel the real tragedy is that two people can love another deeply, but want different things, and be fundamentally incompatible. Reagan is the only one who remembers their relationship, sure, but it is implied she chooses too. (i.e. When she tells Brett, "I wanted to remember.") Ron had to forget Reagan either way if he was going to leave the shadow government behind and pursue the life he wanted.

I agree with most of the points you brought up here and think that for the most part, your opinions are very solid, but the thing I don’t agree with is when you bring up the fact that the team don’t seem like a group of friends, because in my opinion, the show seems to portray them as oh, their a work team, not like a group of friends, and in season one they were shown to mostly be Distant and when you really need them, they were just disappear, except for mostly Brett, who, in the end of the reality storm episode was the one to bring them all back together, so it really mostly seems like there’s more supposed to be like just a team that never really ever trust each other in the first place and it’s not surprising when they don’t team up than our group of friends who are just really shitty friends

All the possible timelines we see Reagan look at involve her running Cognito, either openly or behind his back, and none of them work out. Meaning either she avoided looking at timelines where she erased her memory and ran away altogether, or looked at them and decided it wasn't enough. She's seen what trying to get it all did to her father, so she sacrifices her love and keep her job. It's sad seeing her give up the best part of her life for a dream she knows isn't originally hers in the first place. And of course she tells herself she's doing the selfless thing, even though she's literally dumping him for a promotion. Not sure where you take her character after this, but definitely curious.

We only have 18 episodes, so it’s safe to assume that 2 were pushed to P3 for a total of 12 episodes in P3. The creators probably thought they had more time for buildup then they did, so that’s probably why things may seem a bit rushed.

Keep in mind this is not an actual second season, it's just 1 season that was cut in 2. A common tactic netflix has done to shows like Centaurworld and Cuphead Show. This distinction matters because it means netflix didnt want to pay for another entire season, and they absolutely do still treat animation like it's second-rate. They SHOULD NOT be credited for 'listening' or saving anything. This show was ordered for the amount of episodes it has, it wasn't another ordered batch.

I think the two plot finale kinda connects. As Reagan becomes head of Cognito, we already know she would propel the company to new heights, but has the issue with Ron to deal with. Choose love, lose job, vice versa. But then Brett is there, in the first season he was hired to be co-CEO basically, something that continues to this point in Reagans life. The plot with the anomalies shows Brett can lead Cognito just as well as Reagan, even coming up with solutions for seemingly impossible situations. The plot with Brett is to add mystery to the future of the show and Cognito as the episode develops, that Reagan could choose to give up her job, but Cognito would be alright in Bretts hands. So throughout the episode, we truly don't know what will happen, because more than one outcome is perfectly possible.
